‘Flamingo felons' arrested after statue stolen for second time

Two men were arrested after a flamingo statue was stolen in Parma. [DOWNLOAD: Free WHIO-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] The statue, which Parma City Councilman Kevin Kussmaul said was purchased in honor of a little girl with autism, was ripped away Saturday, CBS-affiliate WOIO reported. The Parma sign's flamingo statue was first stolen in May 2024. Three men who Parma police dubbed the 'flamingo felons' were sentenced to 10 days in jail for that crime. Detectives found surveillance footage that captured a white Ford Escape passing through the intersection early Saturday. The registered owner told detectives their 20-year-old son, who lives in their home, had access to the car, police said. The son cooperated with detectives, who then recovered the flamingo. Police identified the son as 20-year-old Colin Donald Deka. The other suspect was identified by police as 21-year-old Jack Christopher Klamert. The Cincinnati Bengals are reportedly parting ways with a veteran linebacker after six seasons. Advertisement The Bengals have not yet announced Pratt's release themselves. Pelissero said the move would give the team $5.6 million in salary cap savings. TRENDING STORIES: Pratt was drafted in the third round in 2019 and started 88 games over 66 seasons, according to the Associated Press (AP). The AP also reported that Pratt requested a trade during the offseason as he was entering the final season of a three-year contract. He finished ninth in the NFL in 2024 with 143 tackles, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and two interceptions. Pratt sealed the Bengals' first playoff win during the 2021 Super Bowl run with an interception in the final seconds against Las Vegas. It was Cincinnati's first playoff victory in 31 seasons. $2.3 million road project underway to improve traffic, safety along busy area road

A long-anticipated road widening project has begun in Beavercreek. [DOWNLOAD: Free WHIO-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] According to a social media post made by a City of Beavercreek spokesperson, construction along North Fairfield Road has started between Lawson Drive and Fairwood Drive. The City of Beavercreek, in partnership with the Ohio Department of Transportation, is expanding the busy stretch of roadway to include a center left-turn lane. Expanding the roadway from four lanes to five will help reduce congestion and improve safety, according to the post. The roadway will remain open during construction, but some side street closures may happen throughout the year, according to the post. Of the $2.3 million spent on this construction project, $1.2 million was funded in federal grants, and $1.1 million comes from the city's street levy fund. The project will also include the reconstruction of the 5-foot sidewalk on the west side, as well as curb and storm sewer upgrades. There will also be a new 8-foot sidewalk installed on the east side, and enhancements will be made to the bridge near Be Hope Church, according to the post. A woman has died from her injuries after a crash in Logan County last week. Osoro was following too close and hit the Tesla in the back, according to troopers. Osoro then traveled left of the centerline and crashed into a Kia Soul traveling northbound, head-on. The Kia was driven by 37-year-old Ashley Thomas, who was flown to the hospital with serious injuries. She died from those injuries on June 7, according to troopers. The driver of the Tesla was not hurt. Osoro was flown by MedFlight to The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center for serious injuries. Man arrested in local sexual abuse investigation

A 45-year-old man is facing charges after a sexual battery investigation in Miami County, according to Miami County Sheriff Dave Duchak. The investigation began after authorities received allegations of 'conduct' that reportedly occurred in the county. Miami County Court of Common Pleas records indicate that the victim is known to Funaro. 'Evidence gathered during the course of the investigation supported the filing of charges and subsequent arrest of the suspect,' Duchak said. Funaro pleaded not guilty to five counts of sexual battery on June 3, according to court records. Jail records show that Funaro remains in custody. He is scheduled to appear in court on June 10 at 1 p.m. Additional information on the investigation or the alleged conduct was not immediately available.
