WMX leader Lachlan Turner wins first Women's moto at the Loretta Lynn's Nationals

Women's Pro Motocross (WMX) leader Lachlan Turner led the 10-lap Women's Moto 1 at the Loretta Lynn's Amateur Nationals to begin her quest for a first Women's divisional title. Despite failing to win the Women's division in the prestigious event, Turner is the reigning Girls champion. More impressively, she won last year's WMX title in the first year of the series' return. The only thing keeping the day from being perfect on Wednesday at the Loretta's was Turner's failure to get the holeshot. That honor went to Jaelyn Wishon, who retired with two laps remaining to finish 40th. Dan Beaver, Once in the lead, Turner was never challenged. She had a five-second advantage over the field at the end of the first lap and steadily increased it until she finished more than 30 seconds ahead of Kyleigh Stallings, who is currently fourth in WMX points. Stallings started the race third behind Turner and Jordan Jarvis, but moved into second on Lap 2. And while Jarvis could not get around Stallings, the two were in close contact throughout the middle of the moto, often separated by one second. Stallings won the contest and finished in second place. Jarvis rounded out the podium in third. Fourth-place Mayla Herrick and Mila Baltyk rounded out the top five. Moto 2 for Women is scheduled for Thursday. Oasis to Launch Pop-Up Merch Stores Alongside Reunion Tour Dates in U.K. & Ireland

Oasis has announced a series of pop-up stores for fans to purchase merchandise for its hotly anticipated reunion tour, which kicks off on July 4 in Cardiff, Wales. The official Oasis Live '25 Fan Stores will launch nationwide throughout the U.K. and Ireland, giving fans the opportunity to purchase merchandise ahead of the shows. The first space will open in Manchester on June 20 until July 27, with stores in Cardiff, London, Edinburgh, Dublin and Birmingham set to be announced in due course. Locations for each are to be confirmed in the coming days; there is currently no confirmation if the band will open similar pop-up stores for their other dates later this summer. The band's web store will also begin stocking official tour merchandise later this week, with details set to be confirmed imminently. In November 2024, it was announced that Oasis had selected Warner Music Group's merchandise and fan-experience division WMX as the official partner for their Live '25 reunion tour. In May, Amazon also launched its own exclusive range of Oasis merch, including a reproduction of a T-shirt from the band's Knebworth shows in 1996. They're not the first to announce pop-up shops to meet fans' demand for merchandise. Last week, Dua Lipa announced an pop-up in London ahead of her sold-out shows at Wembley Stadium (June 20, 21), and Tyler, the Creator, Harry Styles and more have all tapped into the lucrative merchandise market with dedicated stores for fans on tour stops in recent years. In August 2024, it was announced that Noel and Liam Gallagher would reunite as Oasis to play a series of concerts, their first since 2009. The band is set to play a run of 41 shows across the U.K. and Ireland, North America, Latin America, Asia and Australia throughout 2025. While details on the shows remain under wraps, Liam has used his social media profiles to tease fans with insider info. When he joined rehearsals in early June, Liam said the band sound 'F–king FILTHY,' and that new drummer Joey Waronker was a 'special' addition to the lineup. It is thought that Waronker will join former Oasis members Andy Bell (bass), Gem Archer (guitar), Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs (guitar) alongside Noel and Liam at the shows. Motocross racer makes Manitoba history with national series title

Manitoba officially has its first woman motocross racer to win a championship in the Canadian WMX series — the highest level of women's motocross in Canada — as Katrine Ferguson captured the Women's Pro West Coast Nationals title earlier this month. For the 18-year-old, motorcycle racing across muddy terrains with jumps, steep hills, and tight turns in 20-minute motos is a unique pursuit, especially in Manitoba, where motocross racers are few and female riders even fewer. But in the Ferguson family, motocross is anything but rare, and as Katrine swept all races in Calgary and Cold Lake, Alta., on her way to win the championship, she did it with her three sisters by her side who all compete or work in the sport with her. Ciel Ferguson Photo Katrine Ferguson won the Women's Pro West Coast Nationals title earlier this month in Alberta. Ciel, Ani, Katrine and Téa, the Ferguson sisters, make up the family-run team who are based in Ile-des-Chênes, a small town southeast of Winnipeg. Alongside their parents, Travis and Marie, the sisters travel together across North America to compete in WMX races. 'There's not a lot of really fast riders that are produced out of Manitoba,' said Katrine. 'So it felt really cool. It felt really cool to represent a province that isn't as much represented in the sport. It also felt really cool, like, I'm Métis, so it felt really awesome to represent my culture as well in that sense.' On top of her racing success, which she says has progressed significantly over the past two years, Katrine balanced training while finishing her first year at the University of Manitoba this spring with an impressive 4.13 GPA. 'I was definitely nervous coming into it,' said Katrine on the recent WMX nationals. 'I feel like there was a lot of pressure on me. People were saying a lot that I was gonna do well or I was going to win, and I felt a lot of pressure, like, if I didn't do that. So kind of the way that I tried to rest my mind and stuff was just focus on the things that I could control.' Ani and Téa were not far behind her, also putting up strong performances and both placing in the top seven. But how did we get here? Ciel, the oldest of the sisters, remembers when their dad first brought home a Honda CRF50 dirt bike one weekend years ago while their mom was away, and they've been hooked ever since. 'Our first while of riding dirt bikes, we were actually not doing motocross,' said Ciel. 'We were doing hare scrambles, riding trails in the woods, and eventually that progressed into becoming motocross racers on track.' Ciel says trail riding continues to give them an edge when it comes to developing the technical side of motocross. The 22-year-old herself has moved on from racing pro after facing injuries, including breaking her collarbone last July and suffering a brain bleed, and is now also focused on starting her own career as a flight attendant for Perimeter Aviation. Ciel Ferguson Photo Katrine Ferguson is the first Manitoba woman to win a championship in the Canadian WMX series. 'Unfortunately, it's very, very difficult to make a career out of racing motocross, especially as a female in Canada,' she said. But Ciel, who still rides and races when she can, flies out to watch her sisters compete and stays involved through behind-the-scenes work — managing the team, handling sponsorships and media, and doing all the photography and videography for the races. 'Motocross is my life, my passion, doing this with my family,' said Ciel. 'So I still want to be connected as much as possible.' Ani, 20, is also heavily involved in the motocross world, working at the Capital Motorsports store when she's not racing. In March, she recently had the opportunity to compete at two of the biggest amateur spring national events in Texas, earning 10th overall in the JS7 class at Freestone MX and 11th overall at Spring A Ding. 'She was able to carry a lot of momentum from racing those big events in the U.S.,' said Ciel. 'And then coming back to Canada to race the women's pro nationals, here she did really good.' For the youngest Ferguson, 17-year-old Téa, her journey to racing wasn't as automatic as her other sisters, admitting she actually hated it whenever her dad tried to get her on a bike. 'I was like, 'I'm never doing this, not doing it,'' said Téa. 'And I stopped for two years. And then, obviously, when you're like watching everybody do something fun, you obviously want to try it again. So I did. Originally, I didn't want to, but now I could not imagine it any other way.' From not being interested, Téa went on to become the first female Manitoban to win a supermini race at Zhoda International Raceway and competed in her first professional women's race in 2022. Unfortunately for the young athlete, she's also been met with some injury trouble, including three serious fractures in her pelvis after a crash during a race in 2023, which required surgery. SUPPLIED From left: motocross sisters Ciel Ferguson, Katrine Ferguson, Téa Ferguson, Ani Ferguson 'My first question was, 'when can I ride again?'' said Téa. ''Like, when can I ride again?' I couldn't imagine anything else. So pretty much, I worked really hard, and like rehab, I just kept my eyes on the goal. I wanted to be back on the bike, so it really wasn't any problem. As soon as the opportunity came, I was riding again and training, and that's just, I don't know, it's where I belong.' Téa, who also plays other sports like rugby and basketball, says this year has been the best she's ever felt racing. Winnipeg Jets Game Days On Winnipeg Jets game days, hockey writers Mike McIntyre and Ken Wiebe send news, notes and quotes from the morning skate, as well as injury updates and lineup decisions. Arrives a few hours prior to puck drop. 'It has been really good,' said Téa on the season so far. 'We all spend the entire summer in a camper together. So it really builds strong connections with your family.' Ciel says the sport has been growing in Manitoba, and that there are a lot more girls in general, especially out west, who are racing, riding and taking the sport seriously. 'We recognize that the role models we are able to be to younger riders, and especially younger women that are starting to get into the sport, that is especially very special for us to be a part of,' said Ciel. Next up for the Ferguson sisters is the WMX East Coast Nationals, kicking off June 29 in Sainte-Julie, Que. The series will then run through Courtland, Ont., Ottawa, Ont., Moncton, N.B., and Deschambault, Que., before wrapping up in Walton, Ont., on Aug. 10.

Lachlan Turner wins Thunder Valley Women's Pro Motocross, extends points lead

Lachlan Turner took the lead from holeshot winner Charli Cannon on Lap 2 of the third round of the Women's Pro Motocross (WMX) season and held the advantage until the checkers waved over Thunder Valley Motocross Park in Lakewood, Colorado. With her second win of the season, Turner extended her championship lead to 13 points. "I love the rough tracks," Turner told Peacock's Jason Thomas after the race. "The rougher, the better. But they did smooth out the track a lot. It was fun battling with Charli. It was amazing." Advertisement In one of the most competitive WMX races of the season, Cannon's early pace and Turner's charge separated the two riders from the field. Cannon beat Kyleigh Stalling into the first turn with Turner and Mikayla Nielsen in tow before two separate battles for the podium developed. As they pushed one another to faster speeds, Cannon and Turner amassed a significant lead over the Stalling versus Nielsen battle. For the first five laps, Cannon matched Turner's pace, but after being slowed in the heavy ruts that developed with a full day's activity, Cannon lost eight seconds over the next two laps. "That was a tough one," Cannon told Will Christien. "Not riding during the week (due to finger surgery five days before the season opener), really shows. I kind of died a bit. The first few laps were good, a couple of good battles with LaLa, but my hand started falling off the handlebars in the rough bumps. That made it tricky, but considering I have a broken finger and my lack of bike time, I'm happy with second." Advertisement This battle pitted last year's American Women's Pro Motocross (WMX) champion against Australia's women's champion. Fireworks developed on the final lap when Stallings attempted to take the final podium position from Round 1 winner Nielsen. Stallings dove to the inside and made contact with Nielsen on the steepest uphill section of the track. Both riders fell, and given the severity of the incline, it took them a minute to get their bikes upright. Riding with injuries from last week's round in Hangtown, a surprised Jordan Jarvis passed the two downed riders, noting that Nielsen was remounting her Honda as she blasted between the two bikes. That was all the encouragement Jarvis needed to beat Nielsen to the line by two seconds. Advertisement Incredibly, the rider who began the weekend with a cast on her left hand, Jarvis, secured the final podium position. "I had some bad luck last week, getting landed on," Jarvis said. "I'm not feeling great right now, by any means, but I was able to stay just close enough to be able to capitalize on their mistake. I'm not entirely sure what happened. Not the way I wanted to podium, but I'll take it." Nielsen finished fourth with Jamie Astudillo rounding out the top five. Stallings finished just outside that mark in sixth.
