Shreyanka Patil, Priya Mishra ruled out of India A women's tour of Australia

Mumbai: Shreyanka Patil and Priya Mishra have been ruled out of India A's upcoming tour of Australia due to injuries, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed on Thursday. The duo's participation was subject to fitness clearance. "Both players remain under the care of the BCCI Medical Team at the Centre of Excellence and are currently undergoing their Return-to-Play protocols," the BCCI said in a statement. Shreyanka has been sidelined for some time now. She initially suffered a finger injury during the Women's Asia Cup in July last year but managed to feature in the T20 World Cup held in the UAE in October. However, another injury ruled her out of the 2025 edition of the WPL. With both Shreyanka and Priya unavailable, Bengal batter Dhara Gujjar and Uttarakhand allrounder Prema Rawat have been drafted into the squad for all three formats. Dhara was previously named in the one-day and four-day squads while Prema had only been picked for the T20s. Additionally, wicketkeeper-batter Yastika Bhatia has been added to the one-day squad. She represented Mumbai Indians in WPL 2025 and, more recently, featured in two tour matches against the ECB Development Women's XI. India's multi-format tour of Australia begins with the T20I series in Mackay from August 7 to 10, followed by ODIs in Norths on August 13, 15, and 17. The tour concludes with a four-day match at Allan Border Field in Brisbane, starting August 21. Radha Yadav will lead the team across all formats, with Shafali Verma also named in each squad. Why Harmanpreet Kaur Shared Her Player-Of-The-Match Award With Fast Bowler Kranti Goud

Last Updated: In India's series-clinching performance in the third ODI, Harmanpreet Kaur and Kranti Goud were the star performers. India captain Harmanpreet Kaur won player-of-the-match award for an excellent century against England in the third and final ODI of the bilateral series which concluded on Tuesday in Chester-le-Street. Kaur scored 102 off 84 to help India post a match-winning total of 318 in reply to which England managed 305. Kaur struck 14 fours during her innings to lead the charge with the bat for the visitors as they became the second team after Australia to beat England in England in back-to-back ODI series. A major role in the historic achievement was played by rising fast bowler Kranti Goud who produced a sensational effort with the ball to finish with career-best bowling figures of 6/52 from 9.5 overs to help India win by 13 runs. After the end of presentation ceremony, in a heartwarming gesture, Kaur announced she's going to share the player-of-the-match award with her young teammate whom she lavished with high praise. 'I want to share my player-of-the-match award with Kranti because she bowled one of the best spells of her career. It's a great achievement for a bowler. We've been dying for a fast bowler like you. Well done, Kranti you deserve it," Kaur said in a video shared by the BCCI. India secured a 2-1 series win and thus brought an end to what has been a successful tour that saw them also clinch a historic T20I series triumph over England. Who is Kranti Goud? The 21-year-old Goud is a right-arm fast bowler hailing from Madhya Pradesh. She made her ODI debut in May against Sri Lanka in Colombo. She played her maiden T20I against England in Birmingham earlier this month. Earlier this year, she represented UP Warriorz in the WPL 2025 where she took six wickets in what was her maiden campaign of career. Growing up, Kranti took interest in fast bowling after watching bhaiyas play tennis ball cricket. For a long time, she didn't know that there's something called spin bowling in cricket and that is the reason she developed an interest in fast bowling. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. WPL: UP Warriorz parts ways with head coach Jon Lewis after three-year association

UPW's decision to part ways with Lewis, who had also served as head coach of the England women's for nearly three years, comes after the Deepti Sharma-led side finished at the bottom of the five-team table earlier this year. read more Besides the UP Warriorz in the WPL, former England seamer Jon Lewis had also served as head coach of the England women's cricket team from November 2022 until March this year. AP Women's Premier League side UP Warriorz have parted ways with its head coach Jon Lewis after a three-year association which started in 2023. The Warriorz, who finished at the bottom of the standings in the WPL 2025, informed the development in their Instagram handle. 'From day one, you believed in us. Through the highs, the learnings, and everything in between, Thank You, Coach Jon Lewis, for leading with heart, calm, and belief. ENG-W vs IND-W 1st T20I preview: India aim to end poor T20I record in ENG

As India gear up for the first T20I against England at Trent Bridge on Saturday, the Women in Blue are not just eyeing a positive start but also looking to reverse a long-standing poor record in T20Is on English soil. With the ICC Women's World Cup scheduled to be held in England next year, this five-match series offers the perfect dress rehearsal for Harmanpreet Kaur and her team. Having bowed out early in the last edition, the Indian camp views this series as an ideal opportunity to familiarise themselves with English conditions—both in terms of the challenging pitches and the ever-changing weather. According to the team management, these games will help them identify key players who can thrive in such scenarios, as well as fine-tune their strategy. Eyes on new faces and returning stars India's squad features a blend of youth and experience. Explosive opener Shafali Verma returns to the top of the order and is expected to open alongside Smriti Mandhana, replacing Uma Chetry, who didn't quite grab her chances earlier. Alongside established names, the inclusion of Kranti Goud, Sayali Satghare and Sree Charani indicates a forward-looking approach from the selectors. Sneh Rana, back after over a year, is being closely watched following a strong WPL 2025 season. Amanjot Kaur, who brings pace and depth with the bat, also adds to the all-round strength. With Renuka Singh and Pooja Vastrakar sidelined due to injury, the younger players have a chance to prove their mettle in a challenging environment. Tough challenge against star-studded England India lost both their warm-up matches against the ECB Development Squad—signalling the uphill task they face against a full-strength England team led by Nat Sciver-Brunt. England have depth and variety in their ranks, including experienced players like Tammy Beaumont, Amy Jones and Danni Wyatt-Hodge, along with rising stars like Alice Capsey, Issy Wong and Sophia Dunkley. The Indian think tank will be counting on their top-order batters—Harmanpreet, Mandhana, Shafali, Rodrigues and Richa Ghosh—to hit the ground running. Harmanpreet, buoyed by her leadership role in Mumbai Indians' second WPL title win earlier this year, is expected to lead from the front. However, India will also need more contributions from the lower order, which has underperformed in recent outings. Battle against history While England start as favourites at home, India see this tour as more than just a series. It's a scouting ground, a test of temperament, and a mission to rewrite their T20I story in England. As per the coaching staff, every match here holds World Cup value. A win in the opener would not only give India momentum but also a psychological edge in a year of rebuilding and preparation.
