Xiaomi Pad 7S Pro is official, it has a bigger 12.5" display and Xring O1 chipset

The Xiaomi Pad 7S Pro 12.5 is the first tablet to use the company's own Xring O1 chipset and it arrives a month after that chip made its debut with the Xiaomi 15S Pro. That is not the only change from the Pad 7 Pro, however. For starters, the 7S tablet has a larger 12.5' display – Xiaomi says it offers a balance between portability and screen size compared to 11' and 14' slates. The display still has a 3:2 aspect ratio and a 144Hz refresh rate. The larger tablet is slimmer at 5.8mm (vs. 6.2mm for the Pad 7 Pro). It does weigh more at 576g (up from 500g), but that can be accounted for by the larger display and larger battery. The Pad 7S Pro is powered by a 10,610mAh battery, which supports faster 120W charging. The previous Pro has an 8,850mAh battery with 67W charging. Xiaomi advertises this as a computer companion and even a full laptop replacement with the optional keyboard add-on. It attaches to the tablet magnetically and has a fully adjustable hinge. It runs a new version of WPS Office and supports ZWCAD (compatible with DWG) and CAJViewer (a multi-format file converter). The tablet can do wireless screen mirroring to a PC with a latency of just 41ms. It can also share a keyboard and mouse with a PC and offers easy file transfers. Both Windows and Mac systems are supported, by the way. One change worth mentioning is that the S-model has more speakers – up to 6 now and with Dolby Atmos support. This paired with the larger display promises a more immersive experience for video and gaming. The Xiaomi Pad 7S Pro goes on sale today, starting at CNY 3,300 for the base 8GB/256GB model. There are different configurations going up to 16GB/1TB, check the table below – note that while we've included a conversion to USD, Xiaomi hasn't announced a global rollout yet. Also, the keyboard add-on we mentioned goes for CNY 1,000 and there is a screen protector for CNY 200 (it's the Soft Light kind, which reduces reflections). It features a magnetic, hidden stylus compartment that keeps the HUAWEI M-Pencil (Third Generation) always ready and secure. With just a single motion, you can open the keyboard and get straight to work — even with one hand. Thanks to its multi-angle hovering and skin-friendly, stain-resistant material, it's comfortable for prolonged use. On top of that, the PC-level interaction enhances control with a visible mouse icon — enabling more accurate selections, smoother navigation and a truly desktop-like feel. Enjoy true live-multitasking with up to three apps open at once — for example, join a Zoom meeting, browse on Google and jot down notes in HUAWEI Notes, all at the same time. You can even mirror the display to an external monitor or compress and unzip large files, making this tablet a genuine alternative to a PC. Clear visibility The 12.2' Tandem OLED PaperMatte Display is one of the brightest and most advanced on the market, delivering an immersive viewing experience with its impressive 92% ultra-high screen-to-body ratio. Whether you're replying to emails in a sunlit cafe or working late at night, the display offers crisp clarity and vivid colours — all without the glare or eye strain. Its PaperMatte surface, combined with HUAWEI's Anti-Sparkle technology, eliminates screen flicker and reduces eye fatigue, while simulating the natural feel of writing on real paper. Compared to standard displays, the HUAWEI MatePad Pro 12.2' (2025) excels in both indoor and outdoor conditions, maintaining visibility even under harsh lighting. At its core lies an industry-first dual-layer Tandem OLED panel, capable of reaching a remarkable 2,000-nit peak brightness. Xiaomi founder and CEO Lei Jun stays on as honorary chairman at Chinese software firm

Lei Jun – the 55-year-old Chinese entrepreneur transforming Xiaomi into a technology conglomerate covering smartphones, electric vehicles (EVs) and chips – will retain his seat as 'honorary chairman' at Beijing Kingsoft Office Software, suggesting that the founder remains committed to taking on multiple roles on the business front lines. In his honorary chairman role, Lei, the 'actual controller' of Kingsoft Office, will provide guidance on technology innovation, management and corporate culture, without drawing a salary, according to a filing by the Shanghai-listed company on Thursday. Shares of Kingsoft Office rose 0.7 per cent on Thursday morning. Lei's reappointment at Kingsoft Office – which is known for its WPS Office software , a popular local alternative to Microsoft Office – followed weeks of intense public scrutiny regarding the safety of Xiaomi's driving-assistance system.
