‘Porch pirate' seen on video took package with medical supplies, Rockdale authorities say
Rockdale County Sheriff's Office said an unidentified male suspect was seen stealing a package from a front porch on July 4. Peterson is handling the case and is seeking assistance from the public to identify the suspect. As Falcons open up training camp, Penix Jr. says offense's goal is to be unstoppable
The Atlanta Falcons opened training camp this week. The defense will be a work in progress, but the offense should be one of the most explosive in the league. Training camp marks the beginning of a new year, new expectations and lots of excitement. Fans have already reserved all the passes for the first three practices. Head coach Raheem Morris says he's fired up for his second season. Channel 2's Alison Mastrangelo asked if he feels different heading into training camp this year compared to last year. 'That's a good question, Alison, it's like I don't know if it feels different. I just think it feels more settling, more at ease. I think it's feels even more familiar than it had felt before,' Morris said. 'Being back the second time, being back with the same people, being back a lot of the new faces, being with your second draft class." Michael Penix Jr. is coming into Year 2 knowing his role. He's no longer a backup or rookie, he's the starting quarterback. This offseason, Penix Jr. put in extra work with Drake London and Kyle Pitts. He has high expectations for the offense. 'You know, we should unstoppable. So that's our goal. We want to be No. 1 in all the categories on the offensive side of the ball," Penix Jr. said. Penix Jr. said this offseason he worked on his golf game with Pitts. He started playing last year and has taken a few lessons. He said Pitts is a much better golf, but he enjoys spending the time with his teammates as he continues to build confidence and relationships away from the field. Braves reliever Jesse Chavez retires after 18 seasons
Jesse Chavez, the often-traded reliever who pitched for nine teams in 18 seasons, announced his retirement Thursday. 'As of now, I don't think we're going to keep going,' the 41-year-old Chavez said on the 'Foul Territory' podcast. 'Time to turn the page and focus on the next chapter of life.' Atlanta designated him for assignment last week. Gas prices $0.45 less per gallon in Georgia than last year, AAA says
The latest gas prices in Georgia remain lower than the year before, and are still going down even compared to the last month. AAA's gas price tracker shows that in Georgia, the state average gas price remained the same, a full five cents lower than in June. Compared to last year, AAA said prices in Georgia were 45 cents less than in 2024. 'Gas prices remain low across the country in many states, providing some relief for drivers; however, with hurricane season in full swing, any significant storms could disrupt supply and lead to higher prices at the pump,' Montrae Waiters, AAA-The Auto Club Group spokeswoman, said in a statement. 'It's a good time for drivers to consider fuel-saving strategies to prepare for potential fluctuations.' Delta flight headed to Atlanta returns to LAX over smoking engine
Trouble with the engine brought a Delta flight headed to Atlanta back to the airport in Los Angeles Friday. Delta flight 446 was diverted back to the airport shortly after departure, Delta Air Lines reports. A photo and video shows smoke coming from the left engine of the plane. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] An emergency was declared with Air Traffic Control for priority handling for the aircraft. 'As nothing is more important than the safety of our customers and crew, the flight crew followed procedures and safely returned to the gate,' Delta said in a statement. 'We apologize to our customers for the delay in their travel plans.' The aircraft is a Boeing 767-400 with two pilots, seven flight attendants and 226 passengers. The flight landed safely and taxied to the gate under its own power, Delta said. All aboard got off the plane normally. Delta said the local fire department examined the aircraft as a safety precaution, and the airline's maintenance teams will examine the aircraft. Passengers will be sent to their final destinations on a new aircraft.
