(Image via WWE) Rhea Ripley is one of the marquee players of the women's wrestling segment of the Stamford-based promotion. The Australian powerhouse has taken the WWE by storm with her dominating presence and ultimate wrestling prowess. However, Rhea Ripley has recently shared the backstory of how she got her nickname and what the initial suggestion she made to WWE was for her name. Ripley was last seen in action against Raquel Rodriguez on WWE RAW's June 23rd edition, where Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez ambushed her. Rhea Ripley suffered a 2-on-1 attack after being called out by Raquel Rodriguez during the segment. However, the reaction she generates every week on RAW is a testament to just how beloved she has become among fans. Rhea Ripley reveals her initial nickname suggestion to WWE WWE superstar Rhea Ripley has opened up about the origins of her iconic ring name recently during a podcast with Chris Van Vliet, where she described how the creative process behind the process was not smooth, and how she has faced rejection on making nickname suggestions. Rhea Ripley is famously known among her fans and the WWE universe as 'Mami'. However, the WWE icon has revealed that Mami was not the initial name that she had suggested to the company. During the Insight Podcast, Ripley revealed that she had initially suggested the name Papi instead of Mami to the creative team. But, the recommendation got flatly rejected by the company. Rhea Ripley: Mami Is ALWAYS On Top, Dirty Dom, Crazy Fans, Fav WrestleMania Moment, Buddy Matthews Describing the situation, she said, 'No, I was trying to push the Papi agenda. And they were like, 'Yeah, we can't do that.' And then Priest was like, 'What about Mami?' I was like, Okay, guess I'll be Mami. I was really set on the Papi thing. I was like, I can be a little s**t stirrer, just be Papi this, Papi that. But they're like, we just can't go there. And I was like, 'Okay, I respect that.' Mami's gonna grow on me, though.' In addition, she has also revealed how she initially hated her husband, Buddy Matthews : 'I used to hate him. I think he said this when he was (on Insight). I hated him. I hated him with a passion because I loved Sway, which was a female wrestler, and he was from Melbourne. He came from the back, and he just punched Sway straight in the face. I was like, sir, how dare you? I don't think I saw him before that, too.' Mami further stated, 'I think that was my introduction to Matt Silva at the time. And he punched Sway straight in the face. And then Jimmy Scarlet jumped the barricade and chased him away. And then they had a whole feud and all that. But, yeah, I didn't like him.' Report: Chad Gable Injury Update

It looks like the injury keeping Chad Gable sidelined is more serious than some thought. Earlier this week, Cory Hays reported that Chad Gable is currently dealing with 'an undisclosed injury.' It was also noted that this is likely why Penta attacked Gable on Monday's episode of WWE RAW. On RAW, Gable was backstage with Ivy Nile when Penta approached. Gable concluded their 'lesson' and went to mock Penta, who just had a match with Bron Breakker. Gable teased finishing the job Breakker started, but Penta took exception to Gable repeatedly poking him in the chest. Penta superkicked Gable and screamed, 'I told you, Cero Miedo' before snapping Gable's left arm back. It was noted that Penta's attack allowed Gable to be written off of television, 'or reduce his workload temporarily while he recovers.' The exact nature of the injury was unknown, but it was significant enough to require WWE to change plans. Now, is reporting that Gable is set to have surgery for the undisclosed injury. Gable will have surgery in 'early July' to repair it. It's unclear when Gable will return to WWE TV. Fightful (via Fightful Select) also learned of a similar injury, as it appears El Grande Americano suffered a similar injury to Gable. However, it's a 'total coincidence' that two completely different people got the same injury in the same way. ? Chad Gable's last match in WWE (as Chad Gable) was a loss to AJ Styles on the June 9 episode of WWE RAW. 'El Grande Americano' had his last match on June 18, a Speed Championship match win over Berto. Check out everything that went down on this week's episode of WWE RAW here. During the segment, Jade Cargill and Roxanne Perez locked horns, where the latter took control early, playing mind games and eventually targeting Cargill's left leg, severely compromising it to the point Jade is unable to properly battle. However, Cargill fought back, slamming Perez down with Jaded to pick up the win and secure the spot in the finals. Near the entrance ramp, Cargill celebrated the win as Asuka appeared and the two finalists faced off right near the Queen of the Ring crown, where she addressed her match at the Nights of Champion and cleared the doubt related to Damage CTRL. WWE RAW: Seth Rollins reveals his ‘endgame' two days after John Cena's ‘pipe-bomb' promo, fans call him repetitive and underwhelming

A lot of what happens in the WWE is dependent on the various segments and promos that the stars cut during their buildup to a fight. Skill on the mic is as important as your skill in the ring, and sometimes maybe even more, and hence a lot of wrestlers who have great in-ring talent but poor mic skills keep falling through the cracks in the system. In the past few weeks, there have been some great promos cut by WWE superstars, including John Cena, Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton. However, last night on Monday Night Raw, Seth Rollins came out with a segment of his own, and fans are calling out the star and the company for regurgitating material that has already been used. Seth walked out with his entire clique, consisting of Paul Heyman, Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed, with the MITB (Money in the Bank) briefcase securely being held by Heyman. Rollins addressed the crowd and said, 'It is very evident that none of you know what you want, so I don't really care anymore. All the things you think you want are because of me; Roman Reigns exists because of me. CM Punk didn't come back to the WWE because you chanted his name; he came back because this company wanted to cash in on how much I hate him.' ALSO READ | WWE RAW: Goldberg returns to challenge Gunther for the Heavyweight Championship, Cody Rhodes saves Jey Uso from Seth Rollins As he proceeded to list out all the events and superstars he was responsible for in the WWE, the fans that were singing along to his theme song started to jeer him. While this is the reaction that the WWE expects from the audience, because Seth Rollins is a 'heel', it soon became clear that they weren't booing him just because he was the bad guy. Many viewers commented that this is exactly like a promo Seth cut back in 2024 and made fun of the writers and the wrestler as well. A user commented, 'Can't believe this happened a year ago today,' while another wrote, 'Who writes his promos?' The guy literally says the same thing every time.' While the WWE universe has always been pretty unforgiving when superstars fail to deliver a moving segment, disappointment with this particular promo is more than justified. Over the last few weeks, the audience have been treated to several entertaining and engaging promos, especially at the hands of John Cena and CM Punk. Both men who are going to face off against each other at the Night of Champions went toe to toe during their buildup to the match, and Cena really raised the bar at last week's Smackdown with his 'pipe bomb' promo. John Cena not only put CM Punk through a table; he sat at the turnbuckleof the ring and recreated Punk's infamous promo from 2011, where he constantly broke the fourth wall and accused Cena and the people in charge of being greedy and manipulative. While CM Punk's mic was cut off back then, John Cena continued to pull back the layers of Punk's return to the WWE and what he did during the interim. He called out the names of several wrestlers who left the company and found success elsewhere and accused Punk of turning into the very thing he was against back in 2011. The Night Of Champions will take place at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Abu Dhabi, on June 28. John Cena will face CM Punk for the undisputed heavyweight championship, while the King and Queen of the Ring finals will also take place at the same event. Randy Orton will face Cody Rhodes, and Jade Cargill will face Asuka, and the winners of both the matches will have a chance to fight for a title at SummerSlam.
