Joint security plan launched to stabilize Tripoli
The Ministry of Interior of the Government of National Unity launched on Wednesday the joint security plan to secure the capital, Tripoli, under the supervision of the city's Security Directorate and with the participation of both security and military agencies.
The move comes in implementation of Presidential Council Head Mohamed al-Menfi's decision to form a joint committee for security and military arrangements in the capital, chaired by Tripoli's Police Chief, Major General Khalil Wahiba, under Decision No. 34 of 2025, issued on June 4.
According to the Ministry of Interior, the step is part of ongoing efforts to address current security challenges, enhance stability, and enforce the highest levels of security and administrative discipline within the city to ensure the protection of citizens and the safeguarding of public and private property.
Major General Wahiba gave the official go-ahead during a field tour that covered several key locations in and around Tripoli, marking the beginning of the plan's implementation on the ground. The plan includes intensifying security presence and deploying patrols across main squares and vital facilities.
Wahiba stressed that 'the success of this plan requires effective coordination among all security units, in addition to public awareness and cooperation, in order to contribute to preserving security and stability in the capital.' Tags: Ministry of Interior Tripoli Ceasefire
