The 28-year-old defender leaves Southampton after making over 200 appearances, including 33 in the Premier League last season. Walker-Peters, a product of Tottenham Hotspur's academy, earned two caps for England in 2022. His move to West Ham reunites him with coach Graham Potter, who played a key role in convincing the defender to join. Walker-Peters, who has earned two senior caps for England, expressed his excitement at joining West Ham and is eager to begin pre-season preparations with his new teammates. 'I'm really excited. It feels like it has been a long time coming—I've been linked with a move to the Club in the past—and I'm just happy to be here now," he said in a club statement. The defender cited manager Graham Potter as a major factor in his decision to join the club. 'I spoke to Graham Potter and he was a big, big part of me making the decision. I've always liked his style as a coach, and I think it will suit me well," said Walker-Peters. 'He spoke about the family feel at the Club, and that's what I'm all about. I'd like to think I'm going to be a good fit for West Ham United." Comfortable playing on either flank, Walker-Peters adds both quality and depth to Graham Potter's squad ahead of the new season. Potter, who has previously admired Walker-Peters from afar, is looking forward to finally working with the full-back.
