Walmart is holding a huge summer sale to rival Amazon Prime Day, here are 7 deals to shop now

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. I'm a shopping expert, and one thing I've learned about big box retailer, Walmart — it will not be outdone. Starting July 8, Walmart is holding a huge summer sale to rival Amazon Prime Day, which runs from July 8-11. Walmart said to Amazon, "I see your four-day sale, and I raise you with a six-day sale". As Walmart announced Monday, Walmart Deals start online at midnight ET on Tuesday, July 8, and in stores at local opening times. Walmart Plus members get exclusive early access to deals beginning Monday, July 7 at 7 p.m. ET. That's one of the many perks of being a Walmart Plus member — first dibs on everything. Given that the sale runs through Sunday, July 13, you're getting six days of access to the best Walmart deals of the year. Besides early access to the retailer's best deals during big sales events, Walmart Plus members also get first dibs on high-demand restocks. For example, on June 25 at 9 pm ET, Walmart Plus members get early access to this chance to buy the Nintendo Switch 2. Walmart Plus costs $12.95 per month or $98 a year. Members get access to exclusive deals as discussed above, free express delivery, a Paramount Plus subscription, travel discounts, gas station discounts, and more. As a reminder, Walmart Deals start online at midnight on July 8 with early access starting at 7 p.m. ET on July 7 for Walmart Plus members. In the meantime, scroll on to browse Walmart featured deals at seven discounts I recommend. The Switch 2 is coming to Walmart tonight at 9PM ET — but there's a catch

Sam Rutherford for Engadget Walmart has confirmed that the Switch 2 will be available on its site tonight at 9PM ET, but the first hour of availability will only be open to paid Walmart+ members. So, in order to potentially add the new Nintendo console to your cart, you'll need to be a full Walmart+ member (free trial members aren't eligible). The good news? That privilege will only cost you $13 per month (or $98, if you want to take the plunge for a full year). That's not bad when you consider that opting for the Switch 2 from third-party retailers on Walmart will set you back almost $800. And in addition to granting early access to hard-to-find items like the Switch 2, Walmart+ includes several perks including free delivery (including grocery and pharmacy items), discounts on gas purchases and even a complementary Paramount+ subscription. Walmart will be offering both the baseline $449 Switch 2 and the $499 Mario Kart World bundle. If you're interested in taking the plunge, we'd recommend getting the Walmart Plus sign-up out of the way now, and then returning to the site 10 minutes before the clock hits 9PM (6PM Pacific). Of course, you can wait around to see if any are still available by 10PM, but we wouldn't hold our breath. If you're looking for other Switch 2 vendors, check out our full Switch 2 retailer roundup.

The Switch 2 is restocking at Walmart tonight — Here's how to score one

Ever since its announcement, gamers everywhere have been excited about the Nintendo Switch 2. It comes as no surprise that the console sold out of pre-orders shortly after release. If you want one of the highly coveted handhelds, you'll need to be prepared, so I've broken down what you need to know about getting one from Walmart's incoming restock tonight. Walmart is officially restocking the Nintendo Switch 2 at 9 p.m. Eastern time today, June 25. Walmart Plus members will have one hour of early access before everyone else. Nintendo Switch 2 $449 Like the original Switch, the Nintendo Switch 2 can be used as a handheld gaming system or connected to your TV at home. This new model has more powerful hardware and supports 4K resolution, HDR, and 120 FPS gaming. View at Walmart Anyone who has dabbled in buying a high-demand item knows that an hour spent waiting equates to an eternity when it comes to scoring an order. For most orders, turning up an hour late is the same as not trying at all. That makes a Walmart Plus membership an essential tool for getting in on tonight's Switch 2 restock — and luckily, there's a free 30-day trial that newcomers can take advantage of for that window. I highly recommend signing up during these hours before the restock if you're really dedicated to getting a console. It's free and may be your only chance to get a Switch 2 anytime soon. It also comes with a slew of other perks that any shopper can enjoy, like free grocery delivery, free shipping, Paramount Plus access, and more. Nintendo Switch 2 first impressions If you're unsure whether you want a new Switch 2, we've already reviewed the console. It feels great and is a clear improvement upon its predecessor without too many unnecessary bells and whistles. While it may not be worth the monetary investment from current Switch owners, newcomers to this generation of Nintendo gaming should definitely consider picking one up instead of the older model. I was lucky enough to score a Switch 2 during the preorder phase, and after some light gaming on it, I've loved the quality-of-life changes the device offers. It feels great in hand, and collaborative gaming is easier than ever with the built-in GameChat features. As a longtime Nintendo gamer, I'm glad I scored one, but due to its very limited amount of exclusive titles right now (literally only Mario Kart World as of writing), I can easily tell my friends to wait for more games to release before feeling any major FOMO.

The Nintendo Switch 2 will be available for Walmart Plus subscribers today at 9pm Eastern

Most restocks are free to participate in, but not the latest one at Walmart. The retailer will stock both the $449.99 standalone Nintendo Switch 2 and a $499.99 bundle that includes the system along with a digital copy of Mario Kart World exclusively for Walmart Plus subscribers today starting at 9PM EDT/6PM PDT. Mind you, there's no discount. You're just getting a chance to buy one. The Switch 2 has been difficult to find, and there haven't been many opportunities to buy one if you missed out on a preorder before its June 5th launch. It's disappointing that the restock is locked behind a subscription, but hopefully the retailer has many consoles to distribute. Walmart Plus costs $12.95 per month, or $98 per year, but you can sign up for a free, 30-day trial if you're primarily interested in using the service to pick up a Switch 2. The Nintendo Switch 2 has been out for less than a month, but it's already the fastest-selling game console.. The Switch 2 has a 7.9-inch 1080p screen, which is both larger and higher resolution than the original Switch's 6.2-inch 720p display. Its magnetically-attached Joy-Con 2 controllers are larger, and have improved top buttons. An exclusive feature called GameChat allows you to hop onto a call with people on your friends list with the push of a 'C' button embedded in the console's right Joy-Con 2 or Pro Controller. Heck, you can even use either Joy-Con 2 on its side to use as a mouse in supported games (of which there currently aren't many).
