25-year-old held for $3m scam in US
Ahmedabad: A 25-year-old man of Indian origin Hoffman Estates, Illinois, was arrested in connection with a sprawling financial crime ring that targeted elderly citizens across the American Midwest. A native of Gujarat, he allegedly posed as a federal officer and orchestrated a series of phone scams to siphon off millions of dollars in cash and precious metals. Whitewater police department began probing the case on June 16 after a local resident reported being contacted by someone claiming to be an agent of the Federal Trade Commission. The caller falsely warned the victim that their bank accounts were compromised and linked to drug and human trafficking investigations. The fraudster then demanded large sums of money, including a final demand of $50,000 in cash. On June 25, the suspect arranged to collect the money, but Whitewater police department, in coordination with the Walworth County Sheriff's Office and University of Wisconsin-Whitewater police, set up a sting operation. He walked into the trap and was arrested on the spot. Sheriff's Office in Wisconsin arrests four in two different drug busts, numerous types of drugs and guns seized
WALWORTH COUNTY, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities in Wisconsin made four arrests on two separate drug busts in January. According to two separate releases from the Walworth County Sheriff's Office, one drug search warrant was executed on January 27 and the other occurred on January 31. Illinois man allegedly driving stolen vehicle arrested in Wisconsin for OWI January 27 – 8:15 p.m. According to the release, the drug search warrant was executed at an apartment at 1350 Elkhorn Road in Lake Geneva around 8:15 p.m. Two people at the apartment were detained and arrested: 30-year-old Romario Nabor Silva Cruz 29-year-old Marina Itzel Cruz Martinez Authorities found cocaine, THC and drug paraphernalia along with multiple fraudulent photo identification cards and social security cards, seizing all of them. Both Silva Cruz and Cruz Martinez were taken to the Walworth County Jail. In addition to detainers from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the two face the following charges.
