KUANTAN: A cooking oil packaging company pleaded guilty at the Sessions Court here today to submitting false information related to the controlled item some two years ago.
Edge Shipping Resources Sdn Bhd, represented by its owner Abdul Rahman Ahmad, pleaded guilty after the charge was read before judge Wan Noor Aisah Mohamed.
The company was accused of submitting false documents — 42 invoices — to a mini-market in connection with the supply of controlled goods, namely cooking oil, as requested by the assistant supply controller.
The offence was allegedly committed at a premises along Jalan Pantai Sepat at 4.30pm on November 1, 2023.
The charge was under Subsection 8(4)(b) of the Control of Supplies Act 1961 and is punishable under Section 22(1) of the same Act, which carries a fine not exceeding RM2 million, and for a second offence, a fine of up to RM5 million.
Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry's deputy public prosecutor Munirah Shamsudin appeared for the prosecution while the accused was represented by lawyer Ahmad Faizzuddin Fatahai Ariffin.
Ahmad Faizzuddin requested the court to set a new date for the presentation of the case facts before sentencing.
Wan Noor Aisah fixed August 8 for the hearing.
