On This Day: Spice Girls Released 'Wannabe' — Here's Where They Are Now originally appeared on Parade. The Spice Girls' iconic hit 'Wannabe' turns 29 today. The 1990s anthem was released in the UK on July 8, 1996, and went on to become the group's most popular song of all time. It reached No. 1 in the UK and stayed there for seven weeks. The upbeat track also topped the Billboard Hot 100 in the U.S. The Spice Girls went on to dominate the charts in the late 1990s and early 2000s with hits like 'Say You'll Be There,' '2 Become 1,' 'Mama' / 'Who Do You Think You Are,' 'Spice Up Your Life,' 'Too Much,' 'Viva Forever,' 'Goodbye,' and 'Holler' / 'Let Love Lead the Way.'The group officially disbanded in February 2001 but have, by all accounts, remained close. While a long-rumored reunion tour has been dangled for years, all five Spice Girls did reunite for Victoria Beckham's 50th birthday party in April 2024. So, what are the Spice Girls up to now? Here's what the ladies have been sharing on social media lately: Victoria Beckham (51), aka 'Posh Spice,' recently celebrated her 26th wedding anniversary with husband David Beckham. In a sweet social media post featuring the couple kissing in a pool, the fashion designer wrote,'Another year, another chapter in our love story.♥️I'm so proud of the beautiful family and life we've built together. You and our four incredible children complete me. I love you so much @davidbeckham xx Here's to 26 years!! Xx' Melanie Brown (50), aka 'Scary Spice,' married hairdresser Rory McPhee over the weekend at St. Paul's Cathedral in London. Celebrity guests included Cara Delevingne, Daisy Lowe, and fellow Spice Girl Emma 'Baby Spice' Bunton. Mel B shared a photo of herself with a kilt-wearing McPhee, the bride wearing a short white jacket over her gown that read: 'Just Married.' Emma Bunton (49), aka 'Baby Spice,' looked pretty in pink at Mel B's London wedding, where she represented the Spice Girls in style. The singer and broadcaster shared her wedding-day look on social media, which fans called 'absolutely stunning.' Melanie Chisholm (51), aka 'Sporty Spice,' is living up to her nickname well into her 50s. Also known as 'Mel C,' she's built a career as a DJ, TV judge, and author. In a recent video post, she showed off her fitness, powering through an intense gym workout alongside a training partner. 'We train hard,' she captioned the clip. Geri Halliwell Horner (52), aka 'Ginger Spice,' recently attended the premiere of the new F1 film alongside her husband, former race car driver Christian Horner, and the film's star, Brad Pitt. One fan perfectly summed up the moment, 'Ginger Spice next to Brad Pitt is just making my '90s heart sing.'🎬SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox🎬 On This Day: Spice Girls Released 'Wannabe' — Here's Where They Are Now first appeared on Parade on Jul 9, 2025 This story was originally reported by Parade on Jul 9, 2025, where it first appeared.

Mel C explains why she missed Mel B's wedding - as just one Spice Girl attends

While she couldn't be there in person, Mel C sends a sweet message to Mel B after missing her London Wedding. But fans notice she isn't the only spice girl to miss the special day Melanie C was nowhere to be seen at Mel B's lavish London wedding this weekend. The former Sporty Spice skipped her bandmate's big day at St Paul's Cathedral on Saturday, leaving Emma Bunton as the only Spice Girl to actually show up and celebrate. ‌ Bride Mel B, 50, tied the knot with long-time partner Rory McPhee in a show-stopping ceremony at the iconic London landmark, sealing it all with a kiss on the steps outside. ‌ The 'Wannabe' singer looked stunning in a gown detailed with pearls around the collar and sleeves, finished with a dramatic flowing veil. 'So so happy for you both and beyond gutted I couldn't be there,' she wrote alongside a photo of the happy couple. ‌ 'Excited to celebrate with you really soon. Yipee!' she added, before sharing a backstage snap from her Stockholm gig with the caption: 'Bit of a soggy one last night.' And Mel C wasn't the only English Spice Girl to skip the wedding - Victoria Beckham and Geri Horner also didn't make the ceremony, though Posh still sent Mel some love on Instagram ahead of her big day. ‌ Victoria posted a glam throwback snap of her and Mel with the caption: 'Sending love to you @officialmelb! @rorymcphee is a very lucky man! xx' It is said Victoria was out of the country on long-standing plans and 'simply couldn't be there,' despite having a good relationship with Mel. 'There's no issue between them, they haven't fallen out. It's just one of those things,' a source said. ‌ Meanwhile, Geri's absence is thought to be down to her rocky history with Mel after a revelation back in 2019, when Mel claimed the two had once had an intimate fling during the Spice Girls' early days. Geri reportedly felt blindsided and hurt, and was said to have been left disappointed that Mel never apologised. Still, it didn't dampen Mel's big day, as she and Rory, 40, finally said 'I do' after three years together after being engaged for three years. The hairdresser popped the question in 2022 during a romantic getaway to Cliveden House in Berkshire, surrounded by rose petals and a roaring fire. Mel later gushed: 'He said, 'I love you, you're my best friend and I want to spend the rest of my life with you.' It was very romantic. I love flowers.' It marks the third time down the aisle for Mel, who was married to Jimmy Gulzar from 1998 to 2000, and later to Stephen Belafonte from 2007 to 2017. She also shares daughters Phoenix, Angel, and Madison from her previous relationships.

Spice Girls icon Mel B stuns in bespoke gown as she weds Rory McPhee

Spice Girls icon Melanie Brown – aka Mel B – has officially tied the knot with Rory McPhee in a star-studded ceremony. The newlyweds exchanged vows at St Paul's Cathedral in London today, with Mel, 50, having announced her engagement to the hairdresser in October 2022. Celebrity faces were spotted arriving at the ceremony this afternoon, with those on the guest list including former bandmate Emma Bunton, known as Baby Spice, who attended with her partner, Jade Jones, and son, Beau. Other famous pals donning their finery for the grand occasion included Katherine Ryan, Alan Carr, Angellica Bell, Daisy Lowe, Cara Delevingne, and Gaby Roslin. Noticeably absent were Spice Girls Victoria Beckham and Mel C, but VB's parents, Tony and Jackie Adams, were present. The fashion designer also reached out to Mel ahead of the wedding with a sweet social media post. Ahead of the wedding, Scary Spice Mel worked closely with Evelie Bridal and Josephine Scott to design her luxury georgette crepe gown. Of course, all eyes were on her show-stopping dress as Mel arrived at the cathedral, and upon her exit, new husband on her arm as they climbed into a horse-drawn carriage to make their getaway, royal wedding-style. Caroline Black, owner of Evelie Bridal, told the PA news agency: 'For her look at St Paul's Cathedral, Melanie B wanted a bespoke gown that embodies strength, sensuality, and timeless glamour.' The dress has been described by Caroline as a 'luxury georgette crepe gown with a sculpted corset bodice', featuring 'intricate draping that hugs the silhouette and flows into a dramatic, sweeping train'. It also had a 'sheer illusion detachable jacket, hand-embellished with pearl constellations,' which has been described as creating a high-neck, long-sleeve effect that framed the singer's shoulders and added 'ethereal elegance to complement the ceremony and honour St Paul's etiquette'. Mel also wore a cathedral-length veil, which was embroidered with scattered pearls to complete the look. Speaking about the process of styling the Wannabe hitmaker for her wedding day, Caroline hailed it as 'an honour' and 'nothing short of extraordinary'. She said: 'Helping a real Spice Girl choose her wedding dress—what could possibly top that? 'But what's truly made this experience so meaningful is getting to know Mel as just Mel, not the icon, but the woman.' Josephine added: 'Designing this gown for Mel was about capturing her fearless spirit and softness all in one look. 'She's iconic, powerful, and radiant—and this dress had to be worthy of that. 'Every detail was chosen to honour her strength and sensuality while celebrating the woman and the love story beneath the girl power.' After officially becoming Mr and Mrs, Mel and Rory shared a snap from today on Instagram, captioned simply with the date and a red heart. They were quickly inundated with congratulatory messages from fans and celebs not in attendance, including Paloma Faith and Sofia Vergara. Mel was previously married to Stephen Belafonte until she filed for divorce in 2017 following allegations of abuse. They have a daughter, Madison Brown Belafonte. Mel B also has two daughters, Phoenix Chi Gulzar and Angel Iris Murphy Brown, from two previous relationships. Rory is a celebrity hairstylist said to be a specialist when it comes to curly styles. He's previously worked with fellow stylist Lee Stafford and for major brand Redken, which is part of the L'Oreal group. More Trending Mel and Rory didn't get together romantically until 2018, despite knowing each other for years before. It's believed he was a family friend of Mel's cousin, having gone to school with Christian Cooke. Rory's hairdressing expertise is believed to have helped him in wooing Mel, as the star chopped her famous curls off after her previous relationship ended. While Rory began 'nurturing' her locks, she praised him for doing the same to her 'belief in love again and trust'. Got a story?
