Fans are celebrating the "refreshing" honesty Raising Hope star Martha Plimpton offered up during an interview with Jesse Tyler Ferguson recently, where she opened up about the financial struggle she was facing before landing the role that earned her an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress In A Comedy appearing on the Modern Family alum's podcast 'Dinner's on Me,' the actress revealed that she was flat broke leading into her starring role on the beloved sitcom. Just before booking the gig, she had a meeting with her accountant, where the two discussed the measly $300 she had to her name. "Something needs to happen," the financial pro told her. "I remember putting on Facebook, 'I'll babysit. I'll do anything.' At the time, I was friends with this woman and she almost responded too quickly—and too gleefully. 'I'd love to hire you if you could be in Brooklyn at 6 a.m. on Thursday morning!'" She begrudgingly accepted the offer, but that same week she found out she'd gotten the job on Raising Hope. Fans were flabbergasted by the Emmy Winner's (she took home the win for Outstanding Guest Actress In A Drama Series in 2012 for her work on The Good Wife) story, with one comment reading, "I hate hearing such talented people aren't bogged down with calls when they should be constantly busy and booked." "This is SO refreshing to hear," someone else commended, while a third praised the "amazing and inspiring" tale. "Martha rocks! Always, always been a fan since the '80's!" fans rushed to sing her praises, with another agreeing, "I love her. Everyone should follow Martha. Queen." "Martha is a treasure!" somebody else declared, as another dubbed her a "🙌Legend!" "Always and forever a Martha fan❤️," another announced.
