Ujjain tops SSL in 3-10 lakh category
Ujjain: Ujjain secured first position in Super Swachh League in the category of cities with population of three to 10 lakh. Ujjain Municipal Corporation (UMC) chairman Kalavati Yadav, Mayor Mukesh Tatwal and commissioner Ashish Pathak received the award from President Droupadi Murmu in New Delhi. "This achievement was made possible through public involvement. The achievement not only demonstrates efficiency of city's sanitation system but also highlights cooperation and awareness of its citizens," Tatwal said. Pathak was of the view that Ujjain effectively adopted standard operating procedure according to the cleanliness mission standards, leading to the recognition. UMC strengthened door-to-door waste collection and transportation system in the city. It organized waste management and maintained continuous monitoring of waste segregation, recycling, and proper disposal. Dewas best in league of its own, bags Presidential award
Indore: Dewas achieved a significant milestone in Swachh Survekshan 2024, securing the first position in the category of cities with a population between 50,000 and 3 lakhs. This prestigious award was presented by President Draupadi Murmu at a ceremony held today, Thursday, in Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. Madhya Pradesh urban administration minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, Dewas mayor Geeta Agrawal, and municipal commissioner Rajnish Kasera jointly received the award from the President. This marks the first time Dewas was honoured with a Presidential Award. The city also received a Five-Star Rating for its cleanliness efforts and earned its second consecutive Water Plus Certificate. For the past three years, Dewas consistently ranked 25th among over 4,000 cities nationwide in Swachh Survekshan 2021, 2022, and 2023. While the municipal corporation previously claimed a Five-Star rating in past surveys, it consistently received a Three-Star rating from 2021 to 2023. The corporation first received a Three-Star rating in 2019 but missed it in the 2020 survey. A delegation including mayor Geeta Agrawal, speaker Ravi Jain, municipal commissioner Rajnish Kasera, MLA representative Durgesh Agrawal, and health officials marked their presence in Delhi to receive the award. Back in Dewas, the municipal corporation's officials congratulated each other and distributed sweets, celebrating their first-place win. Employees also marked the occasion with fireworks, expressing their joy and pride.
