Regina Hall looks back at 'Scary Movie' 25 years later, recalls her favourite scene from the film

It's been 25 years since Scary Movie hit theatres, and Regina Hall's character Brenda Meeks still makes fans laugh with her iconic lines. The actor, now 54, recently hosted a cookout in Los Angeles on June 25 with Bounty, where she talked about the film's lasting popularity and her summer barbecue favourites, according to People magazine. Hall, while speaking to the publication, remembered her experience working with director Keenen Ivory Wayans. "It was a dream to work with him because I learned so much. It's very wonderful that even after 25 years, audiences still resonate and laugh. I think that goes to the genius of Keenen and the Wayans [family]," she said. "They were able to be a part of that genre of filmmaking with parodies that people can still laugh at." Hall fondly remembered her experience working with director Keenen Ivory Wayans. "I'm such a huge fan of his," she told People. "It was a dream to work with him because I learned so much. It's very wonderful that even after 25 years, audiences still resonate and laugh." Scary Movie was released in 2000 and became a box office hit, making over $278 million worldwide. It was known for poking fun at popular horror films like Scream, The Blair Witch Project, and I Know What You Did Last Summer. The movie's cast included Shawn and Marlon Wayans, Anna Faris, Carmen Electra, Shannon Elizabeth, and Dave Sheridan. Hall also shared that her favourite scene was when Ray (played by Shawn Wayans) dresses Brenda in a football uniform. Even today, fans approach her quoting memorable lines like, "Out of my face!" and "The TV's leaking!" "Kids quote that one. I'm like, 'Oh my goodness, not the children!'," she said. She also talked about why Brenda is still loved by audiences. "Even if you haven't seen all the original movies that we're spoofing, people of all walks of life and cultures they love it," she said. "That's an honour. People love Brenda."

A$AP Rocky might have spilled a sweet detail about his and Rihanna's third child – or trolled us

A$AP Rocky may have given a spoiler about his and Rihanna's new addition. Speaking to 'Entertainment Tonight's' Kevin Frazier at the 'Smurfs' world premiere in Brussells, A$AP Rocky spoke about their third child, joking that he and Rihanna want to have a big family, much like the Wayans family. (Siblings Keenan Ivory, Kim, Damon, Shawn and Marlon – as well as the next generation Damon Jr., Damien and Chaunté – are one of Hollywood's most famous broods.) Frazier then asked of the new child, 'Is that the girl you've been waiting for?' 'It is, man. It is,' A$AP Rocky said with a big grin. He then lifted a Smurfette doll, which is the character Rihanna voices in the new film, saying, 'Right here, right here.' 'You know what I'm asking!' Frazier laughed. A$AP Rocky continued laughing. If true, the new baby would be the couple's first daughter. Rihanna and A$AP Rocky are already the parents of two toddler sons, RZA and Riot. Rihanna revealed she was expecting the couple's third child on the Met Gala red carpet, after announcing their second pregnancy during her 2023 halftime Super Bowl performance. The 'Smurfs' movie is set to hit theaters July 18.

A$AP Rocky might have spilled sex of third baby with Rihanna

A$AP Rocky might have just revealed that he's about to be a girl dad when his third baby with Rihanna is born. The rapper, who already shares two sons — 3-year-old RZA and 22 month old Riot Rose — with the Grammy winning singer, appeared to hint that the couple is expecting their first baby girl. During an interview at the world premiere of 'Smurfs,' Entertainment Tonight host Kevin Frazier asked the rapper, 'Is that the girl you've been waiting for?' Rocky replied saying, 'It is, man, it is.' He then played off the moment by holding up a Smurfette toy in attempt to redirect his answer while saying, 'Right here, right here.' When asked if the family plans to keep expanding, Rocky says the duo is just getting started. 'We're going to be like the Wayans family, you know?' Rocky joked, referencing the Hollywood family of 10 kids. 'I mean, love is beautiful, and it's just spreading it.' In a 2024 interview with Interview magazine, Rihanna spoke about her desire to have a girl. 'I don't know what God wants, but I would go for more than two,' RiRi said at the time. 'I would try for my girl. But of course, if it's another boy, it's another boy.' Rocky joined Rihanna at the 'Smurfs' premiere in Brussels as the 'Umbrella' singer produced the live-action animated reboot and voices Smurfette in the summer film. She also contributed new song ' Friend of Mine' to the soundtrack. The pop star walked the blue carpet showing off her growing baby bump in a sheer baby blue top and skirt as she chatted and snapped photos with fans. The movie will hit theaters on July 18. -----------

A$AP Rocky says he wants a family ‘like the Wayans'—teases gender of he and Rihanna's third child

A$AP Rocky and Rihanna announced they were expecting their third child together in May 2025. A$AP Rocky may have given a major clue into the gender of the third child he is expecting with Rihanna. The 36-year-old rapper shared what he wants for his growing family while on the 'blue' carpet with the 37-year-old singer for the global premiere of the 'Smurfs' film in Belgium. When asked by Entertainment Tonight, 'How big is this family gonna get?' Rocky chuckled before he responded, 'We're gonna be like the Wayans family, you know.' The infamous and hilarious Wayans family famously includes 10 children (Dwayne, Keenan, Diedra, Damon, Kim, Elvira, Nadia, Vonnie, Shawn, and Marlon), many of whom have gone on to have fruitful careers in various lanes of the entertainment industry. While at the premiere, Rocky added, 'Love is beautiful and [growing his family is] just spreading it.' The 'Praise the Lord' rapper was then asked if Rihanna was carrying the girl they've been waiting for to which he began to say 'it is' before holding up a Smurfette doll and gesturing that the iconic character whom Rihanna voices in the film, is the 'girl' he's referring to. Rihanna was also coy when the gender question came up. 'Let's see if it's a Smurfette … it could be a Papa Smurf,' she teased. 'Who knows?' However, she did reveal that no matter what they have, they will continue the family tradition of R names. 'It's always going to be an R name,' she declared. 'That's the one thing me and Rocky don't fight over.' Rihanna and A$AP Rocky, who began dating in 2019, announced they were expecting their first child together in January 2022 before welcoming RZA in May of that year. In February 2023, Rihanna announced she was expecting her second child, another son, Riot, with A$AP during a since-gone-viral moment from her Super Bowl halftime performance. The couple welcomed Riot in August 2023. In May, after much speculation, Rihanna revealed she was expecting their third child during a showstopping rainy photo shoot in New York City hours before she debuted her baby bump on the 2025 Met Gala's red carpet in a stunning Marc Jacobs skirt suit look. 'I feel a lot better now that I don't have to suck my stomach in anymore,' she joked to Access Hollywood's Scott Evans while on the red carpet for the Met Gala that Rocky also co-chaired. She later told Entertainment Tonight, 'I'm shockingly feeling okay and not too overwhelmed at the moment. I mean, at first it was kind of like, 'Ahhh.'' She also reassured fans that while her third pregnancy may affect 'maybe a couple videos,' it shouldn't get in the way of her long-awaited next album. She added, 'I can sing!' More must-reads: Who should take over Vogue after Anna Wintour?
