Waynesboro students get hands-on look at hospital careers

Seventh grade students from Waynesboro Area Middle School recently visited WellSpan Waynesboro Hospital to explore careers in health care as part of the school's 'Adventures in Careers' program, according to a community announcement. During the visit, students rotated through a variety of stations highlighting roles in diagnostic services, emergency medicine, pulmonary services, nursing, surgical services and physical therapy. "The main goal of Adventures in Careers is to have students experience the real-life ins and outs of a career that they feel most connected to at this point in time in their life,' said Kelsie Weaver, a counselor at Waynesboro Area Middle School. 'We also hope to have students engage in hands-on aspects of the career and have their questions answered by experts who are currently in the profession." The event was designed to give students a hands-on look at potential future careers and connect them with professionals currently working in health care.
