Myleene Klass 'inspired' by Rod Stewart wife Penny Lancaster as she shares career update

Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Myleene Klass has revealed that she was "inspired" by Rod Stewart's wife, Penny Lancaster, as she embarks on an important new role. In a recent episode of the We're Not Getting Any Younger podcast, the former Hear'Say star, 47, opened up about a new medical position that's far removed from the glitzy world of showbiz. Myleene is now a trained first aider for St John Ambulance, reportedly taking up the challenge after she had to save her daughters from choking. However, it seems her new position was also inspired by Penny's work. When quizzed on what she enjoys most about her past or current work, Myleene replied that she's "hungry for challenges" and feels like she's "never satisfied." When asked what she's got planned next, she added:"I mean, look, I've just passed as an official first aider for St John, so I'm going to be going out — as inspired by Penny Lancaster — because she works with the police in her free time." (Image:) Myleene continued:"Yeah, she's amazing. She's amazing, and so then I thought, well — my mum's in the NHS — and I was brought up around doctors, and yeah, I really do think that that's a leveller. "Healthcare's a leveller; everyone should have it, and I think that I don't wanna be the person that doesn't know what to do." However, Myleene added that now, if something happens to her, she's the person in the room who's "screwed," so she feels she has to ensure that others know "what to do" as well. In a post announcing the news on Instagram, Myleene shared photos of herself wearing her uniform near an ambulance. She invited fans to "check out" her "new office" before thanking people for their messages of support. Last year, Myleene became an ambassador for St John, revealing that she had been left "overwhelmed" by the support she received and confessing she hadn't realised how tough the training would be, reports The Standard. (Image: Getty Images) Loose Women panellist Penny has been a special constable with the City of London Police since 2021. She felt inspired to join after appearing in Channel 4's Famous and Fighting Crime. Speaking to the same podcast, the model shared details about her crime-fighting career, including that she had arrested two people for drink and drug-driving, something she found "nerve-wracking". Penny explained that she had to perform the caution correctly or risk the arrest being "thrown out." She said: "It was nerve-wracking because to say the caution for the first time, remember the lines, and do it all correctly — there's a necessity for arrest. And back at the station, when you're talking to the custody sergeant — if you don't do those steps correctly, whatever you've arrested the suspect for can be thrown out."

Rod Stewart's 'horrible' complaint about Glastonbury set as he makes 'demand'

Rod Stewart is set to play the Sunday 'legends' slot at Glastonbury this Sunday, with the Maggie May hitmaker recently opening up about his concerns ahead of the performance Iconic singer Sir Rod Stewart has candidly expressed his distaste for one particular aspect of his highly anticipated performance at Glastonbury, while also revealing a specific request he's made. In a special Glastonbury edition of the BBC Sidetracked podcast with Annie Macmanus and Nick Grimshaw, the 'Maggie May' singer discussed his upcoming gig on the festival's renowned Pyramid Stage. ‌ Having previously graced the stage in 2002 with Coldplay and Stereophonics, Rod is set to take on the Sunday 'legends' slot at Worthy Farm, following in the footsteps of music greats like Dolly Parton, Lionel Richie, and Kylie Minogue. ‌ When asked about his thoughts on being labelled a "legend", Rod admitted he's comfortable with the term, saying: "I don't mind. I obviously think I deserve it. I just wish they wouldn't call it the teatime slot." Rod continued to explain why he wasn't keen on the traditional name given to his performance time, which Annie agreed sounded "old", before the musician himself branded the label "horrible". Discussing his preparation for the show, Rod revealed: "We're working on the set list, but not too hard. I wanna try and treat it like any other game, you know, although it's not; it's Glastonbury." He further disclosed his insistence on extending his stage time, explaining: "But I've only got an hour had an hour and 15, and I demanded an hour and a half because I many songs. You know, obviously, this'll be the last time I do it." Rod says he'll have a few drinks prior to his Glastonbury performance to take the edge off. He shared that, instead of trying to be perfect, he'll focus on enjoying himself on stage: "So, I want it to be memorable, but I'm just gonna go in, have a few drinks before I go on and enjoy myself like I've always done all my life." ‌ Meanwhile, Rod's wife Penny Lancaster has spoken candidly about her concerns for her husband, admitting that recent losses in his family have led him to reflect on his own life and consider how long he's got left. However, the famous singer continues to keep her on her toes. During an appearance on the 'We're Not Getting Any Younger' podcast, Penny answered a question about whether Rod still made her feel young, saying: "He does, he does." She also mused: "My thought with Rod, the way I kind of describe him, you know when you get to 80, I guess there's a lot of reflection, there's more to look back on than there is to look forward, and he's wondering to himself, he's lost his two brothers, maybe 'How long have I got?'". Alongside the preparations for his highly anticipated Glastonbury performance, Rod has also vowed to set a new 100m record for over 80-year-olds, sharing in Men's Health that he had already achieved an impressive 19 seconds and hoped to shave it down to 17 seconds, in a bid to top Kenton Brown's October 2024 record of 14.21 seconds.

It's a prestigious position, with Rod joining the ranks of other famous icons who took to the stage in previous years, including Dolly Parton, Lionel Richie, and Kylie Minogue. Besides gearing up for his upcoming performance at Glastonbury this week, Rod has also recently let slip his ambition to smash the 100m record for octogenarians. He shared his progress with Men's Health, speaking about his achievement in shaving down his time to an impressive 19 seconds. In hopes of further improvement, he's aiming to slash that figure to 17 seconds, thus aiming to beat Kenton Brown's smashing 14.21s record set in October 2024.

Tom Kerridge shares relative's realisation after watching hit TV show as he 'understood'

Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Celebrity chef Tom Kerridge has shared his admiration for the television series The Bear, which he believes captures the essence of running a restaurant. In an interview with The Times, Kerridge, 51, expressed his affection for the show. He said: "I fell in love with The Bear right from season one. There's a huge amount of artistic licence in it, obviously, but it is the closest any show has come to showing the energy levels, excitement, stress and anxiety that running and owning a restaurant brings." He praised the way the series encapsulates the long hours and dedication required in the industry. Tom said: "It condenses into 30 minutes what 16-hour days can be like. It gets across the romance of restaurant life but at the same time is not afraid to show the repetitive processes that are essential to any well-run kitchen." Kerridge also revealed that the show resonated with his family, particularly his brother who gained insight into the chef's professional life, reports Gloucestershire Live. (Image: Getty) He recalled: "After that episode my brother, who isn't in the industry, rang me and said it was the first time he understood what my work was all about." The Bear tells the story of chef Carmen 'Carmy' Berzatto (portrayed by Jeremy Allen White), who finds himself back in Chicago to salvage his late brother's floundering restaurant. British chef Tom Kerridge has previously opened up about his personal struggles. Earlier this year he spoke candidly about his concerns regarding his health and lifestyle, particularly fearing he'd not see his 50th birthday if he didn't make significant changes. Delving into his journey on the 'We're Not Getting Any Younger' podcast with Lisa Snowdon and Andy Goldstein, Kerridge talked through his decision to give up alcohol as his 40s approached. He said: "We're like halfway there and you're like... well, it is halfway to death if I live to 80. But where I am at the minute, I ain't going to make 50. "I'm absolutely loving the way that I'm living, but I can't [carry on]. It is going to end and it will all end really really badly, so I just stopped. "On a quiet day, so I would work and I wouldn't have my first drink until we sent the last main course, so say 10pm, but then I'd have a pint of Negroni easily." Fast forward to today, and Kerridge proudly stands as one of Britain's most renowned chefs and food innovators.

Rod Stewart's hilarious 'sex habits' comment and prompt apology ahead of Glastonbury

Sir Rod Stewart apologised for the humorous confession he let slip during a BBC interview ahead of his Glastonbury set this weekend. Sir Rod Stewart has apologised after making a TMI comment during a BBC interview recently, where he talked about his friendship with Ronnie Wood. Preparing for his teatime slot at Glastonbury 2025 on Sunday, where he will reunite with old friend Ronnie, the 80-year-old discussed his upcoming set with BBC Radio 2's Zoe Ball. Rod received a heartwarming pre-recorded surprise from Ronnie during the interview, in which he shared a fond memory from the earlier years of their friendship. Sir Rod was delighted by the surprise, and went on to reminisce about how their close bond formed. ‌ It was their matching hairstyles which first prompted the pair to speak, before they joined The Faces. When asked what has kept their bond so strong over the decades, he explained: "I think we have the same sense of humour." ‌ "It's like, as people that have been around us [have said] when we get together and we start talking to each other, [they go], 'It's like you two are in 1975, you're exactly the same, you still laugh at the same thing'. "I mean we've got the same nose, same haircuts and same sex habits apparently," which was met with a nervous giggle from Zoe. He then quickly apologised for the NSFW comment, before concluding: "We're brothers." Last month, Rod confirmed that Rolling Stones legend Ronnie will be one of three special guests joining him on stage at Glastonbury, reported Edinburgh Live. Sir Rod will entertain festival -goers with a 90-minute set of his greatest tracks, although he admits some crowd-pleasers may need to be cut due to time constraints. Backing the rockstar will be his long-term wife Penny Lancaster, whom he wed in 2007, along with some of his eight children. ‌ Meanwhile, Loose Women's Penny recently offered a glimpse into their home life, revealing that there is one room in their mansion she can only access when accompanied by him. This exclusive space houses a model railway, which reportedly features elements such as skyscrapers, gutters, warehouses, windows, train tracks, and trains. ‌ Penny said Rod has been dedicated to the model trainset for over three decades, and he devotes hours to it daily at times. Speaking to hosts Lisa Snowdon and Andy Goldstein on their We're Not Getting Any Younger podcast, she spilled: "Rod's obsessed with his trains because he's got the railway modelling layout. ‌ "It's about four times the size of this room. He's been working on it for about 35 years. I can't remember the scale, but it's very tiny and he has literally built every single building." During lockdown, Penny revealed, Rod "shipped the whole layout" from their American residence to London. When asked if she's permitted in the room, she continued: "You can go in, but it's within these air‐tight, air‐conditioned containers. It's like museum quality. I am [allowed in], but not by myself."
