Penny Lancaster admits Sir Rod Stewart left quite nervous after her surprising career change

Penny Lancaster shared on the We're not getting any younger podcast — hosted by Lisa Snowden and Andy Goldstein — that her husband Sir Rod Stewart was quite nervous when she started as a volunteer member of the police service.
Recounting her experiences to the hosts, the 54-year-old said that Sir Rod, 80, was slightly worried about her night shifts.
During the podcast chat, Loose Women star Penny explained her role as special constable, which she's been doing for around four years, all kicked off after participating in a TV programme.
Eager to expand her involvement, she opted to undergo additional training and dedicate more time to supporting the force.
Penny, used to work as a model, also admitted that she'd made two arrests in her short policing career, reports Glasgow Live.
Describing how it all began, she said: "I'm a special constable. I did a TV show called Famous and Fighting Crime and they had a bunch of household names involved in this TV show that was based in Cambridgeshire and I was located in Peterborough.
"Police officers can only police with the consent of the public, but the public are the police and the police are the public.
"It's very hard to remind the public and to gain their trust because there's so many negative things out there about policing and I always see myself as the positive face of policing."
Penny added: "So, I was on the frontline with regular police officers and specials seeing all the work they do. And even though there were some really scary moments I was just hooked on it. I got such a buzz and I felt like this was my calling."
In her role as a special constable, Penny explained that she volunteers at least 200 hours a year, typically one night shift a week, and is accompanied by a colleague.
Sir Rod Stewart, who is appearing at Glastonbury Festival this weekend, was apparently "absolutely s****** himself" according to Penny.
Penny explained: "He was, he was. I've been doing it for four years now so he's kind of got used to it and he's met a lot of my colleagues and he respects the amount of training I've done."
Regarding her experience with making arrests, Penny shared: "I have, two people, for drink driving and drug driving. Every accident you have to test for drink and drugs. It is an adrenaline rush...I wasn't arresting on live TV."
