Pittsburgh has noticeably more comfortable weather on Wednesday as humidity dips
I'll let the weather do the talking today and won't take up too much of your time talking about the picture-perfect weather. I will quickly tell you about what has changed and how long it is going to take. Deal? Deal. WEATHER LINKS: Current Conditions | School Closings & Delays | Submit Your Weather Photos My advice for you is to get out and enjoy this weather through Saturday. Dew points will be in the moderate range, but are down from the string of high tropical air mass days we have seen recently. One of the best ways to measure humidity at the surface (where we are) is through the dew point. Dew points over the next few days KDKA Weather Center Dew points had been averaging around 70 degrees over the past 10 days. Today, they have dipped into the mid to low 60s across the region. The 5° difference will be noticeable for those stuck outside today. That means that even on a day like today, where I expect highs to hit the mid-80s, you'll be a lot less sticky and sweaty if stuck outside. Conditions in the Pittsburgh area on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 KDKA Weather Center Speaking of the weather, highs today, Thursday & Friday will hit the mid-80s with humidity levels in the moderate to even low range. July 4th is looking like the pick of the week with humidity levels dipping down to near 60°. Highs will still hit the mid-80s. Temperatures do warm up this weekend with highs near 90 on both Saturday and Sunday. Humidity levels will climb up to the 'high humidity' level on Sunday, with those conditions sticking around through next Tuesday. 7-day forecast: July 2, 2025 KDKA Weather Center Stay up to date with the KDKA Mobile App – which you can download here!

Strong storms and flooding will be possible today in the Pittsburgh area
Strong storms and flooding are possible today for parts of the Pittsburgh area. Any Alert Days Ahead? Today is a First Alert Weather Day due to a flooding risk. Aware: 5.32" of rain has fallen in Pittsburgh this month, making it the wettest June since 2019. Did you enjoy the one-day break from the rain? Rain and storm chances are back today with downpours potentially leading to flash flooding. We have already seen plenty of rain this month, 5.32" of rain at the Pittsburgh airport. This is already the wettest June since 2019. If we see 0.35" of rain today or more, we will end the month as a top twenty wettest June on record for Pittsburgh. I have everyone seeing rain today, but most of your day will be dry. Most folks will see less than an hour total of rain. KDKA Weather Center Storms may be intense though, with rain rates of 1.5" to 2" possible with the most intense. This means it would only take thirty minutes to see more than an inch of rain. With how saturated the ground is already, intense downpours, and topography that is conducive to flash flooding, the risk for flooding is marginal to slight. As always, if you see water on a road, just find another route other issue today is that some of these storms will have a fast-moving forward speed. If wind speeds on the leading edge hit 58mph or higher, severe thunderstorm warnings will be issued. Oddly enough, the fast-moving storms should help to limit flooding. If storms were expected to move through slower than forecast, we would see our flooding risk be much it comes to the forecast, highs today should hit the mid-80s with temperatures near the high of 84 degrees at noon. Morning temperatures, for the 9th day in a row will fail to dip below 70 degrees. Winds will be light and out of the south. It'll be humid with dew points in the upper 60s for the day. Tuesday highs will also be in the mid to low 80s with high humidity levels remaining in place before Tuesday's cool front passes. Tuesday highs will also be in the mid to low 80s. While it doesn't look like the chance will be as high, flooding and strong winds will be possible again on Tuesday. The rest of the work week should see more comfy weather, even as the high temperatures don't change too much. Humidity levels will sink though, and you'll notice the difference. KDKA Weather Center The 4th of July is looking comfy with just an isolated rain chance at this time. WEATHER LINKS: Current Conditions | School Closings & Delays | Submit Your Weather Photos

Pittsburgh in for a calm, but humid weather day on Sunday
We finally get a break from the rain and storms today. You'd think we'd also get a break from humidity and heat as well but that isn't going to be the case. Today will be hotter than yesterday with highs near 88 degrees. WEATHER LINKS: Current Conditions | School Closings & Delays | Submit Your Weather Photos Yesterday's high was 86°. Humidity levels will also remain in the high range with dewpoints in the upper 60s all day long. Temperatures do finally dip below 70 degrees this morning; the first time we've done that since last Saturday. Conditions in Pittsburgh on Sunday, June 29, 2025 KDKA Weather Center As we head through the day, there are a couple of things to talk about. First off, if you're reading this before 10 a.m., there is likely some fairly dense fog out there in spots, with the fog being denser to the north of Pittsburgh, where skies were clear all night. Places south of I-70 probably won't see too much fog due to cloudy skies not allowing sufficient cooling. The other issue is the potential for high ozone levels making their way to the surface. Ozone develops due to a chemical process in the mid-levels due to greenhouse gases and energy from the sun's rays. Most development happens in the afternoon. At least for now, readings remain low, but that may change this afternoon. Estimates from Saturday's rainfall KDKA Weather Center We will monitor things there, but at least this morning, I am not seeing anything too concerning. Looking ahead, there seems to be some uncertainty about Monday when it comes to rain and storm chances. As of this morning, the Storm Prediction Center has us painted in as a marginal level one out of five risk of severe weather on Monday. They do not have us having a severe weather risk on Tuesday. Potential for severe weather on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 KDKA Weather Center I think the data this morning is heavily leaning towards the higher risk of severe weather happening on Tuesday. There is a chance for strong storms as a warm front lifts through late Monday into Tuesday, but this storm chance happens right at midnight. Most storm activity should come on Tuesday. Similar to what we have seen over the past couple of days, strong winds and flooding due to downpours are the main concern. Tuesday is when relief really arrives as a cold front sweeps through, taking the excess moisture with it. Temperatures at that time will return to near normal for this time of the year, with highs hitting the mid-80s for the rest of the week, with morning lows in the mid to low 60s. 7-day forecast: June 29, 2025 KDKA Weather Center Stay up to date with the KDKA Mobile App – which you can download here!

Scattered to numerous storms expected in Pittsburgh on Saturday afternoon
Parts of our area got slammed with strong storms and very heavy rain Friday afternoon and evening. Pittsburgh officially received 1.42" of rain with isolated higher amounts in other portions of our area, which led to localized flash flooding. We expect a similar pattern to result as we head into this afternoon and evening with more storms and locally heavy rain. WEATHER LINKS: Current Conditions | School Closings & Delays | Submit Your Weather Photos A weakening cold front is located to our northwest, moving across the Great Lakes States and the Midwest. High temperatures and rain chances in the region KDKA Weather Center This front will eventually move into our northern counties by late morning to early afternoon, with the air ahead of it warming up and remaining very humid. We are not expecting record-breaking levels of atmospheric moisture like yesterday, but levels will certainly be much higher than usual for this time of year. Once temperatures at the surface hit around 85°F, which will be around 12-1 p.m., we expect storms to start forming around the I-80 to HWY 422 corridor and slowly move east and southeast. Storm threats on Saturday afternoon KDKA Weather Center The most likely timing for Pittsburgh to see storms today will be between 2-7 p.m. As storms pulse up and collapse, there will be a microburst wind potential with gusts upwards of 60mph along with small hail and very heavy rain. Storms should diminish after sunset with a loss of daytime heating. With light and variable winds overnight and high humidity, dense fog will develop during the predawn hours of Sunday morning. Low temperatures and rain chances in the region on Saturday night KDKA Weather Center The fog will mix out after sunrise Sunday morning, then temperatures will heat up well into the upper 80s to near 90°F in the afternoon. It will be quite uncomfortable with high levels of humidity, but the overall rain chances appear much lower. Sunday night into Monday morning, we will watch the approach of our next storm system. A strong southwest wind will transport very deep and high levels of moisture into our region. High temperatures expected on Sunday KDKA Weather Center As a matter of fact, atmospheric moisture levels are projected to break records, which will set us up for an environment of storms to produce heavy rain and flash flooding. Some severe storms are possible as well as we will have stronger winds aloft to help organize storms and allow them to persist longer. The most likely timing for storms will be after 12 p.m. Monday through early Tuesday morning, although some additional storm chances are likely midday and early afternoon Tuesday as the cold front moves through. Slightly drier and cooler air will move in for the middle part of next week. Another cold front will bring a chance of scattered showers and storms by Thursday. As of now, the 4th of July appears to have a low rain chance, but there is high uncertainty in how the specific weather pattern will set up across our region, so changes to this forecast are likely to occur. 7-day forecast: June 28, 2025 KDKA Weather Center Stay up to date with the KDKA Mobile App – which you can download here!

After five straight days of 90-degree weather, Pittsburgh begins to see a slight cool down
Today should look similar to what it looked like yesterday, with a lot of dry time but storm chances returning for the afternoon. WEATHER LINKS: Current Conditions | School Closings & Delays | Submit Your Weather Photos I expect storms to develop off of what are known as "outflow boundaries" once again today. These boundaries are ripples in the atmosphere that lift conditionally stable air just enough to kick off storms. Storms develop due to hot and humid air being "buoyant" and lifting. Sometimes this buoyant air is trapped at the surface by a layer of stable air. These outflow boundaries give this air the 'lift' it needs to break through the stable layer, and that's when storms develop. Back to the outflows, they give the storm every lift or punch to get through the stable layer of air and turn into storms. When that happens, storms develop, and if conditions are there, severe storms and downpours can happen. Excessive rain risk for western Pennsylvania KDKA Weather Center Rain chances both this morning and early in the afternoon should keep highs in the 80s today and not the 90s. Morning temperatures remain in the low 70s, and today will be the sixth day in a row with temperatures remaining above 70° in Pittsburgh. I have noon temperatures in the mid-80s. Winds should be light today, coming in out of the south. Looking ahead, we should see some rain on Saturday too. Rain totals expected through early Saturday morning KDKA Weather Center Right now, model data is showing less rain & storms tomorrow than today, but this has been what model data has done over the past couple of days. Data has consistently underplayed instability coming into each day until the last moment, and then on later runs shows correctly the instability driving storms. Saturday is included under a level one out of four risk of flash flooding. That may get bumped up, depending on what is expected along with what falls today. We finally see temperatures dip below 70 degrees in Pittsburgh late Saturday or Sunday morning. Highs on Sunday should hit the upper 80s. Another round of rain and storms will be around on Monday with highs in the mid-80s. While rain chances appear low Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with highs each day in the mid-80s. 7-day forecast: June 27, 2025 KDKA Weather Center Stay up to date with the KDKA Mobile App – which you can download here!
