Investigation underway into fatal Wellesley collision

Waterloo Regional Police say a 73-year-old man from Brant County was killed in a crash Thursday in Wellesley Township. First responders were called to Moser Young Road, near Weimar Line, around 3:25 p.m. for a collision involving a motorcycle and Ford pickup truck. Police said the man on the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup was not hurt. Police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash, or has dash cam video, to give the Traffic Services Unit a call at 519-570-9777, ext. 8856.

In a social media post at 4:27 p.m. Thursday, police said Moser Young Road was closed between Township Road 3 and Notre Dame Drive due to a crash investigation. Although details about the collision are sparse, police urged drivers to avoid the area and said the closure could last for several hours.

Woman charged after hitting Waterloo building

Police are investigating after a vehicle crashed into a grocery store in a commercial plaza on Laurelwood Drive in Waterloo Saturday afternoon. Waterloo Regional Police have charged a driver from Wellesley Township after a vehicle struck a building in Waterloo. It happened around 2 p.m. Saturday. Emergency services were called to a collision in the area of Laurelwood Drive and Erbsville Road. 'A Toyota RAV4 drove into the side of a business, causing extensive damage to the building,' said police in a media release. 'The driver sustained minor physical injuries.' The driver of the Toyota, a 58-year-old woman, was charged with dangerous operation.
