Tomos Williams hands Lions huge injury scare as concern heard in commentary box
Tomos Williams hands Lions huge injury scare as concern heard in commentary box The Wales scrum-half pulled up after scoring his second try for the Lions Tomos Williams clutched his left hamstring immediately after scoring (Image: Sky Sports ) Tomos Williams handed the Lions a big scare after the scrum-half pulled up injured in the process of scoring a try against Western Force. The Gloucester star was handed a starting berth by Andy Farrell against the Perth-based side on Saturday after a bright cameo off the bench in Dublin last week. And Farrell was rewarded in his selection, with Williams scoring two tries for the tourists. Unfortunately for Williams and Farrell, the Welshman was injured in the process of scoring his second, dotting down in acrobatic fashion after good combination play with Mack Hansen. The Irishman and Williams exchanged passes to put the latter through in the corner - but Williams immediately pulled up in his celebration, clutching his left hamstring. There will be a collective hope that it is nothing more than a slight strain. Article continues below England international Will Greenwood expressed concern in the commentary box, saying: "I'm just hoping Tom Williams is OK. Rob Howley, 1997, right in amongst it, did his shoulder against the Sharks. "And a hamstring.... ooooh.... fingers crossed for him." Sam Warburton added: "Firstly you take no chances, especially with fast and explosive players like Tomos, get him off straight away. "If he's going to be limping like that, you're looking like he's going to miss next week, the midweek game for certain." He added: "Right call to get Tomos off, take no chances." Williams was replaced by Alex Mitchell just after scoring, which happened in the 49th minute. Article continues below You can follow live updates here.

British and Irish Lions v Western Force live updates
Live updates of the opening British and Irish Lions tour match against the Force in Perth. Lions side to face the Force Ireland hooker Dan Sheehan said Thursday he will be his 'chill' self after being named captain for the British and Irish Lions' opening Australian tour game against Western Force in Perth. The 26-year-old Leinster star was a surprise choice to lead the side on his Lions debut, having skippered his country just once. 'It's obviously a massive privilege and honour,' said Sheehan, who will pack down between countryman Tadhg Furlong and Scotland's Pierre Schoeman in the front row on Saturday. 'I just need to be myself, do what I usually do. I'm quite a chill person. I feel like I've got an understanding on who I am and what sort of excites me. 'With the added role of being captain I don't think it changes that much. I'll just bring the boys with me. I'll just let it happen.' Head coach Andy Farrell retained just two players from the side that started the 28-24 loss to Argentina in Dublin last week -- flanker Tadhg Beirne and centre Sione Tuipulotu. Among those rested is tour captain Maro Itoje, who led the side against the Pumas. Farrell has opted to make full use of his squad in the first of nine tour matches, including Tests against the Wallabies in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney. He was without the bulk of his Leinster players against Argentina and they feature heavily against Simon Cron's Force, with nine in the matchday 23. Five starters will be making their Lions debut, as will four on the bench. 'We have had a good week of training and all of the travel and time-zone changes have been managed really well, so we are good to go,' said Farrell. On Sheehan, Farrell said being captain 'will make him a better player because that's the type of character he is, and he's a calming-type influence who understands what pressured situations really look like'. The Lions back row consists of Beirne, former World Rugby player-of-the-year Josh van der Flier and young star Henry Pollock. Scotland ace Finn Russell starts at flyhalf, partnering Welshman Tomos Williams. English veteran Elliot Daly takes on the fullback duties with Mack Hansen and James Lowe on the wings, and Garry Ringrose and Tuipulotu in the centre. 'We know the quality and experience the Force have and the opportunity to play against the Lions always brings out special performances from the Super Rugby sides, so we expect them to be at their best,' added Farrell. On their 2013 Tour, the Lions ran out 69-17 winners against the Force. British and Irish Lions (15-1): Elliot Daly; Mack Hansen, Garry Ringrose, Sione Tuipulotu, James Lowe; Finn Russell, Tomos Williams; Henry Pollock, Josh van der Flier, Tadhg Beirne; Joe McCarthy, Scott Cummings; Tadhg Furlong, Dan Sheehan, Pierre Schoeman

Western Force v British Lions live updates from opening game of Australian tour
The British & Irish Lions' tour kicks off on Saturday, with the renowned side squaring off against Western Force in the opening match of their Australia tour. Andy Farrell's squad landed Down Under at the beginning of the week, jetting to the southern hemisphere after a 28-24 loss to Argentina in Dublin. The outcome wasn't the best preparation for the men in red, but they will have put that behind them now, focusing solely on today's game in Perth. Farrell has made 13 changes to the team defeated by the Pumas as Dan Sheehan captains the side in the absence of Maro Itoje. Today's match, which starts at 11am Irish time, will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Main Event, but you can also keep up with live updates in our blog below, via Wales Online. There's captain Dan Sheehan, centre Garry Ringrose, second-row Joe McCarthy, wing James Lowe, openside flanker Josh van der Flier and tighthead Tadhg Furlong in the starting XV while Andrew Porter, Ronan Kelleher and Jack Conan is on the bench. Replacements: Ronan Kelleher, Andrew Porter, Will Stuart, Ollie Chessum, Jack Conan, Alex Mitchell, Huw Jones, Marcus Smith Today's opponents, Western Force, are the weakest of the four Australian teams in Super Rugby Pacific. The force finished 9th out of 11 on the table with just four wins to their name but they were competitive in many of their games. But they won't be at full strength against the Lions with second-row Jeremy Williams, openside Carlo Tizzano and wing Harry Potter not getting released from the Wallabies squad while Kurtley Beale is injured. However, there will be a handful of Wallaby squad members on show in the shape of full-back Ben Donaldson, scrum-half Nick White, wing Dylan Piestsch, prop Tom Roberston and lock Nick Champion de Crespigny. In 2013 the Lions smashed the Western Force 69-17. Tanak leads after tough day at the Acropolis Rally
With the sun beating down, the Estonian, world champion in 2019, reached the end of the second day with a slim three second lead over his Hyundai teammate Adrien Fourmaux. Eight-time former champion Sebastien Ogier was placed third at almost 17 seconds. Ogier's Toyota teammate and championship leader Elfyn Evans was in fourth, almost one-and-a-half minutes adrift of Tanak. "It was a typical day in the Acropolis Rally, very difficult," said Welshman Evans. "Seb (Ogier) put in incredible times, but we weren't able to match that," Evans added. World champion Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) was one of the drivers who struggled, ending the day over two minutes off the lead. The Belgian lost a chunk of time due to a brace of punctures. In the overall standings, Evans holds a 19 point lead over Ogier, who is only competing part-time this season.
