Allison Holker Admits She Was an 'Almond Mom' to Daughter Weslie — and Shares Why She's Now 'More Well-Balanced'
Allison Holker is admitting she might be a little bit of an almond mom The professional dancer spoke with her daughter on their podcast 'Between Us' and shared that she was "very strict" with what Weslie ate growing up However, the teenager shared that things aren't the same for her two younger siblingsAllison Holker is opening up about her previous parenting as an "almond mom." On a recent episode of her podcast Between Us with her 16-year-old daughter Weslie, the So You Think You Can Dance professional dancer, 37, admitted that when her teenage daughter was growing up, she was a bit of an "almond mom." "My entire growing up — I say this to her all the time now — she was so almond mom," Weslie said, referring to the parenting style characterized by eating organic foods and healthy snacks. "She was like, 'You have to eat greens, it's chicken every night." Holker, who is also mom to younger kids Maddox, 9, and Zaia, 5, whom she shares with late husband Stephen 'tWitch' Boss, admitted that the allegations were true. "I definitely was one with Weslie," she said. "I was very strict. I was cooking all the time, and her lunches for school were all the organic versions of everything. There were no processed snacks. Everything was different types of nuts. I had a lot of dried fruit options." Although Holker admits she was "strict" with Weslie, the teenager is noticing that her mom is not the same way with her younger siblings. "I love a good chip, she would not let me eat it," Weslie said on the podcast. "Now, she doesn't care!" However, the mom of three shared that she learned from her experience with Weslie and wanted to create more balance in her kids' diet, rather than restricting what they eat. "With Weslie, I was like, 'Ok, we're going to do this. I'm going to be a good mom,' " Holker remembered. "At that moment, I thought that being a good mom meant that everything was healthy. I was researching everything that was in our kitchen, and I was really diligent about it. I think in a lot of ways it helped me, though I was a little extreme in it." "I don't know if it was for the right reasons, but I did want us to have a healthy lifestyle," she explained. "I was like, 'I'm gonna be the best mom if I do this.' It was a really good choice for me because it educated me more, but then I feel everything comes with balance." "There are a lot of healthy options in our home, but I also allow them to be children," said Holker. "I found a little more joy in it, too. I'm just teaching now what I'm trying to do. With Weslie, I was a little strict and now with Maddox and Zaia, I want to be a little more well-balanced." Read the original article on People

Allison Holker Was an ‘Almond Mom' to Daughter Weslie, 17, Throughout Her Childhood: ‘Extreme'
Allison Holker's eldest daughter, Weslie, is getting real about the 'strict' lessons her mom used to impose when it came to eating. 'My entire growing up — I say this to her all the time now — [but] she was so almond mom,' Weslie, 17, said on the Sunday, June 22, episode of their 'Between Us' podcast. 'She was like, 'You have to eat greens [and have] chicken every night.'' While Holker, 37, was unsure about the origins of the slang term 'almond mom,' she does concur that she acted that way when it came to food. 'I definitely was one with Weslie. I was very strict,' Holker said. 'I was cooking all of the time, and her lunches for school were all the organic versions of everything. Like, there were no processed snacks. Everything was, like, different types of nuts [and] I had a lot of dried fruit options.' Allison Holker Admits She and Daughter Weslie, 16, Have Dealt With 'Hard Times': 'We've Beefed' For the uninitiated, an 'almond mom' is defined as a parent who often imposes unhealthy eating habits and body image expectations onto their children. Holker, for her part, primarily raised Weslie as a single mother. (The Dancing With the Stars alum also shared son Maddox, 9, and daughter Zaia, 5, with late husband Stephen 'tWitch' Boss, who died in 2022.) 'I love a good chip [and] she would not let me eat it,' Weslie recalled on Sunday's episode. 'Now, she doesn't care! You're definitely a lot more [laid back now.]' Holker has since recalibrated her parenting when it comes to food and eating since having Maddox and Zaia. 'With Weslie, I was, like, 'OK, we're going to do this. I'm going to be a good mom.' At that moment, I thought that being a good mom meant that everything was healthy,' Holker said. 'I was researching everything that was in our kitchen, and I was really diligent about it. I think in a lot of ways it helped me, though I was a little extreme in it.' Susan Sarandon's Daughter Says She Was a 'True Almond Mom': Cheerios Were 'Junk Food' She added, 'I don't know if it was for the right reasons, but I did want to have a healthy lifestyle. I was like, 'I'm gonna be the best mom if I do this.' It was a really good choice for me because it educated me more, but then I feel everything comes with balance.' To allow for better balance in her kids' diet, Holker lets them have fast food or other snacks in moderation. 'There's a lot of healthy options in our home, but I also allow them to be children,' Holker said. 'I found a little more joy in it, too. I'm just teaching now what I'm trying to do. With Weslie, I was a little strict and now with Maddox and Zaia, I want to be a little more well-balanced.' Allison Holker Says She's ‘Appalled' That Daughter Weslie, 16, Gets ‘Sugar Daddy' DMs Every Day
Allison Holker was completely shocked by daughter Weslie's latest social media confession. 'I get scam texts or those messages every day, like sugar daddy messages,' Weslie, 16, said on the Sunday, May 11, episode of their 'Between Us' podcast. 'My Instagram is full of them. The amount of men asking for feet pics is wild. I'm underage.' Holker, 37, was caught off guard by Weslie's revelations. 'Stop it, no you don't!' Holker quipped. 'I don't feel comfortable at all with that happening to you. I'm glad we're talking about it. Wait, are you serious? You just don't respond, or do you block them? What do you do? This is happening [and] we're having a discussion of what needs to happen next. I was not aware of this.' Allison Holker Is Proud of 'Incredible Woman' Daughter Weslie, 16, Has Become Amid Family Drama According to Weslie, the messages go straight into an 'unfiltered' direct message folder. 'I'll check it every once in a while if I want to laugh or giggle,' the teen said. Holker, who shares Weslie with a past partner before welcoming two younger kids with late husband Stephen 'tWitch' Boss, doesn't want her firstborn to open any more of the scandalous messages. (Weslie claimed that some of the messages offered her a monetary 'weekly allowance' if she sent foot pics or accepted an offer to be a sugar baby.) 'Don't open those. First off, never open them [because] you don't know where it's going to go,' Holker stated. 'Let's just make the rule [and only open messages] from people that you know.' Allison Holker Details How She Makes 'Majority' of Her Money as an Influencer: 'Fortunate' She added, 'Can we turn these people in? … They say allowance 'cause they know you are a child. That is absolutely insane [and] I'm really appalled. I'm really sorry that's happening for real.' Holker further stressed that hearing about Weslie's unprompted DM requests makes her feel worried as a parent. (Holker has been a single mother ever since Boss died by suicide in 2022 at the age of 40.) 'It makes me sad that you would have to navigate that space,' Holker added. 'I never had to deal with some man asking me for feet pics, like, that's really uncomfortable. … I've tried to teach you that other people are going to show they're ugly through social media [and] it's the way you use your social media [is] all you can control. Even you knowing that this is a scam or these are bad things that are happening and making yourself aware, makes me feel like you're going to be OK.' While Holker is proud of Weslie brushing off the messages, she still doesn't 'like hearing that it's happening' in the first place.

Allison Holker feels 'happy' with her boob job
Allison Holker recently got a boob job after wanting one for years. The 37-year-old star has revealed that she feels "so happy" with the results of her boob job. Speaking on an episode of the 'Between Us' podcast, Allison shared: "I recently had a boob job and I'm so happy with it. "I've wanted a boob job since I was in high school but, because of my career and dancing, I never really made time for it." Allison was actually surprised by how straightforward the procedure proved to be, having felt anxious about it beforehand. She said: "I was like, 'OK, I'll have to take a couple months off.' I also thought it was going to be a lot more of a big deal than it really was after getting it done." Allison previously feared going under the knife - but she eventually found the courage to go through with the procedure. The 'So You Think You Can Dance' star explained: "I pushed it off, pushed it off, pushed it off. Three kids later and I'm not dancing like I used to, so I was like, 'OK, maybe this is the right time for me.'" Allison developed a new approach to life after her husband Stephen 'tWitch' Boss died in December 2022, aged 40. The TV star's confidence was hit by her husband's death, but she's now looking to the future with optimism. Allison - who had Weslie, 16, Maddox, nine, and Zaia, five, with her late husband - said: "I think I needed a little bit of encouragement, like, I've gone through a lot the last couple years, and I was really down on myself and my confidence level was all over the place. I was like, 'I think I'm going to do something for me.' It was really nice." Allison actually spoke to Weslie about going under the knife before she committed to the procedure. The dancer - who married Stephen back in 2013 - said: "I think it really helped me, having conversations with Weslie. Her seeing me go through the process of, like, 'No, I'm going to choose me for a second,' and now I'm so happy with that."
