Qatar spikers make winning start at West Asian C'ship in Bahrain
The Qatar national volleyball team secured a 25-18, 25-19, 25-14 win over Saudi Arabia in the inaugural edition of the West Asian Men's Volleyball Championship, which is being hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain with the participation of 8 teams. Qatar will take on Oman on Sunday, before concluding the first round with a game against Kuwait on Monday. Group A features host nation Bahrain, along with the UAE, Jordan, and Lebanon, while Group B includes Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Kuwait. The tournament is part of the West Asia Volleyball Association's vision to develop the sport and foster regional competition. The initiative aims to create a regular continental tournament platform and offer national teams increased opportunities for high-level match experience and talent development.

The prestigious regional tournament brings together eight national teams from across West Asia to compete at the highest level. Qatar have been drawn in Group B alongside Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, while Group A includes Bahrain, Jordan, the UAE, and Lebanon. Qatar's second clash will be against Oman on July 20 before facing Kuwait in the final group stage match the following day. Qatar's preparations have intensified with daily training sessions at the Qatar Volleyball Association Hall under the supervision of Argentine coach Camilo Soto. The players have been showing strong commitment as they aim to deliver a performance worthy of the national team. Coach Soto emphasized that the championship is a key milestone in the team's preparation, praising the players' performance in the recent Asian Nations Championship, also hosted by Bahrain, where Qatar claimed the bronze medal. Qatar player Dhahi Mubarak stressed the importance of maintaining high focus throughout the tournament. Hosts Bahrain, in coordination with the West Asia Volleyball Association, are ensuring that all logistical, organizational, and technical aspects are aligned with international standards. The organizing committee is working diligently on venue readiness, team accommodations, transportation, and event protocols to guarantee a successful and smooth championship.

Kuwait names 14-player squad for the West Asian Volleyball Championship
KUWAIT CITY, July 6: The technical staff of the Kuwait men's volleyball team, led by Argentine head coach Julian Al-Fayez and his Zaid Al-Kazemi, has officially selected 14 players to represent the team at the inaugural West Asian Men's Volleyball Championship, set to take place in Bahrain from July 17 to 27. The selected squad includes: Abdulaziz Najm, Mahmoud, Yousef Mandeel, Fahad Saad Yaqoub, Abdul Nasser Al-Enezi, Abdullah Fares Al-Enezi, Abdulrahman Al-Mutawa, Saud Al-Duwaisan, Ahmed Al-Munais, Rashid Anbar, Adhbi Malik Al-Enezi, Fares Suleiman, Talal Ahmed Abdul Razzaq, Ibrahim Mandeel, and Abdulrahman Mohammed Kamel. In preparation for the tournament, the team departed at dawn today for a 10-day training camp in Tunisia, where it will play four friendly matches. Naif Al-Khamili, Assistant Secretary-General of the Kuwait Volleyball Association, heads the team's delegation. It includes team administrator Mohammed Al-Balushi, fitness trainer Kozak Lux, statistician and physiotherapist Mohammed Al-Yamam, and the 14 selected players. According to the tournament draw, Kuwait has been placed in Group B alongside Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Oman. Group A comprises the host nation, Bahrain, Jordan, the UAE, and Lebanon. Speaking before the team's departure, Al-Khamili encouraged the players to make the most of the Tunisia camp and emphasized the importance of a strong showing at the tournament, viewing it as both a competitive opportunity and a chance to build a new generation of players capable of long-term success.

KUWAIT CITY, July 5: The Kuwait national men's volleyball team has been drawn into the highly competitive Group B—dubbed the 'Fiery Group'—for the first West Asian Men's Volleyball Championship, alongside regional powerhouses Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Oman. Group A features Bahrain, Jordan, the UAE, and Lebanon. The draw took place via video conference and was attended by Nayef Al-Khamili, Assistant Secretary-General of the Kuwait Volleyball Association, who extended his best wishes to the team. He emphasized the importance of this regional competition in showcasing the development of Kuwait's volleyball talent. The team will depart for Tunisia tomorrow (Monday) for a training camp running through July 17, ahead of the championship's kickoff in Manama, Bahrain, on July 19. The camp will include four friendly matches, providing valuable experience, particularly for younger squad members. KUWAIT CITY, June 12: Nayef Al-Khamili, Assistant Secretary-General of the Bahrain Volleyball Federation, has revealed Kuwait's detailed preparation plan ahead of the inaugural West Asian Men's Volleyball Championship, set to take place in Manama, Bahrain, from July 17 to 27. Al-Khamili confirmed that following the domestic training phase, the Board of Directors of the Kuwait Volleyball Federation approved an external training camp in Tunisia, scheduled from July 4 to 16. The 'Blue Volleyball Team' will head directly from Tunisia to Bahrain to compete in the regional tournament. Al-Khamili praised the Federation's efforts in supporting the national team, stating: 'All available resources have been allocated to ensure the Blue Team is fully prepared to compete strongly in the first edition of the championship.' He emphasized the role of the national team's technical staff, led by Argentinian head coach Julian and assistant coach Zaid Al-Kazemi, who have laid out an intensive training program aimed at enhancing players' physical and tactical readiness. This program will continue up to the team's departure for Tunisia and will focus heavily on game strategies and friendly matches during the camp.
