New Lidl store in Wexford to bring jobs boost to area as special guest lined up to cut the ribbon

Doing the honours and cutting the ribbon of the new store at 8 a.m. will be local ladies' Gaelic football star Aisling Halligan. The second Lidl store in the town, after Whitemill Road, this will bring the number of stores that the supermarket chain has across the county to five. Lidl have promised a 'premium shopping experience', with two deposit return scheme machines, self-service checkouts, customer restrooms and baby-changing facilities, as well as an in-store bakery and off-licence. Externally, the store benefits from regenerative landscaping with native wildflower areas, bicycle storage, a locally sourced Wexford stone entrance wall, and a large car park. The Rocksborough store also promises to be ultra energy efficient with features such as a certified Energy Management System, energy efficient tech and solar panels. Early bird shoppers are invited to come along on opening day and enjoy instore entertainment and opening day offers. The first ten customers will also receive a €20 gift voucher to spend on their shopping. Alongside this, Lidl will donate €1,000 in Lidl vouchers to Wexford Women's Refuge. Speaking about the honour of cutting the ribbon, Aisling Halligan praised the supermarket chain for their long-standing support of ladies' football. 'Through its longstanding partnership with the LGFA, Lidl has been hugely supportive of its communities and it's great to see them further investing in the Wexford area by bringing a state-of-the-art store and creating employment for local people.' Aisling said. "I'm honoured to be asked to cut the ribbon on the new store and I'm excited to get the chance to meet with Lidl shoppers and celebrate the opening with everyone. It's great news for Wexford and a very positive boost for the area.' Regional Managing Director at Lidl Ireland Niall Murray said excitement is building to welcome shoppers to the new store. 'Wexford has recently enjoyed significant growth in population, both in terms of residents and workers, and this new store is conveniently located to serve a thriving local community,' he said. 'Throughout the construction and development phases, feedback from the community and support for the new store has been incredibly positive and I'm looking forward to throwing open the doors and welcoming everyone into store later this month.'
