Jones Road's Just Enough Tinted Moisturiser Has Arrived And It's The Antithesis Of What The Foundation

It was the product that broke the internet – and for all the wrong reasons. Jones Road's What The Foundation went viral after an online debate divided the beauty world, with instant obsessives and vocal sceptics feuding over the formula that has since garnered a legion of loyal fans. Now, Bobbi Brown has launched a new base product that's completely different to its counterpart – lightweight, nourishing and easy-to-apply, the new Just Enough Tinted Moisturiser has all the characteristics the former foundation didn't; making it the perfect solution for anyone who prefers a skin-nourishing formula throughout summer. Below, ELLE UK caught up with Bobbi Brown to discuss summer make-up tips, new beauty launches, and what's next for Jones Road... 'It was really important to me to create this product because I knew that there were customers who felt like something was missing. Something lighter that just felt different on the skin; this gives the appearance that you're not wearing make-up – that's the secret of Just Enough Tinted Moisturiser and I think one of the secrets behind Jones Road, too.' 'What The Foundation provides buildable coverage while the Just Enough Tinted Moisturiser is light coverage for the days where you don't need a lot. If you have oily skin it may not be your go-to but the formula is very hydrating and sits comfortably on the skin. It also doesn't dry down; it's not bouncy and emollient. We worked on this for over a year and tried it on so many people with different skin tones and skin types. I am probably the hardest judge when testing formulas, so when most people say that they love it, I would still say it's not there yet; I wanted to make something that I couldn't imagine making any better.' 'As you get older, your skin gets drier, no matter the season, so it's important to keep your skin moisturised. In the warmer months, you may start to feel like you want less moisture, which is ok, but you just need to make sure that you're still using products that don't dry out your skin.' 'I think you should do whatever makes you feel your best. That could mean something different for everyone. I believe in knowing who you are and owning it. This message puts you in the driver's seat to make decisions in your life, whether it's what make-up to wear or the clothes you go out in the world in; you're the decision maker in your life, and you should do what makes you feel the most confident.' 'My Aunt Alice used to say "If you're unhappy, find out what's causing it and see if you can do something about it. Aside from illness, there's nothing you can't find a way to fix."' 'We have so much coming out this year. I'm really excited for autumn because my tenth book is coming out and we're celebrating Jones Road's fifth anniversary, so you know we're going to plan some new products and exclusive launches for that.' ‘I'm blown away with how good this tinted moisturiser makes my skin feel'

I've tried out lots of tinted moisturisers recently, and I thought I'd found a favourite – but this new launch trumps them all for hydration and a radiant finish With the weather getting warmer, this spring I've been on a mission to find one of the best tinted moisturisers and skin tints to replace my full coverage foundation with. I've already found some brilliant new ones, including Clarins, Hourglass and Laura Mercier, but this newest one I've tried has immediately taken the top spot. Having previously tried Jones Road's viral What The Foundation – which received mixed reviews – I was keen to see how the latest base product by the skincare and make-up brand (which was founded by Bobbi Brown) would fare. Jones Road is known for its natural-looking, easy-to-use products, and Just Enough Tinted Moisturizer is no exception – and I'd go as far as to say that it's the best tinted moisturiser I've ever tried. Priced at £44, Just Enough Tinted Moisturizer comes in 16 shades (a good range for a sheer face base), is non-comedogenic (meaning it won't block pores) and contains sodium hyaluronate, a humectant with molecules even smaller than hyaluronic acid for deep hydration. I picked the shade Ivory, which was the perfect match for me, although the shades are so flexible that you could probably find two or three that would suit you. It goes on like an absolute dream. I normally prefer to use a make-up brush to apply any type of foundation or face base but this goes on so well with fingers, without any smears or patches; it's totally seamless. The coverage is very sheer – lighter, I'd say, than the Clarins one – so it's not one for you if you need to cover prominent redness or marks (or you'll need to use a good concealer over the top), but it leaves the most lovely dewy finish to the skin – really natural, healthy and just subtly perfected. The two things that most impressed me though were, firstly, how well it lasted it lasted. I usually find that even the most expensive skin tints and tinted moisturisers turn patch y on my skin as the day goes on and the 'hydrating' element of the formula wears off. Not this Jones Road one though – it stays feeling fresh all day. I also couldn't believe how soft and smooth it made my skin look and feel; I honestly couldn't stop touching my face all day. Unlike the brand's What The Foundation, however, it's not greasy or slippy at all, and other make-up also sat beautifully on top of it. Of course, there may be other factors at play as to why I like how this looks on my skin. I'm really happy with my skincare routine at the moment – a simple one featuring Teresa Tarmey Cleanser, £42, a brilliant new vitamin C serum that I'm not allowed to reveal yet, and Ultra Violette Future Fluid SPF 50+ Superlight Mineral SKINSCREEN, £38. I've also been diligently using my ZIIP Halo facial toning device most mornings, which I think is really making a difference. If you like the sound of a lightweight, light coverage tinted moisturiser but have never quite found the right one for you, however, I urge you to give this Jones Road one a try.

Louise McSharry: Seven super buys for a gorgeous glossy makeup look

While matte and powder products always have a place, as far as I'm concerned there will always be a place for glossy, glowing skin. It looks fresh and healthy, as well as youthful and, as long as you're careful about application, can look good on any type of skin, no matter your age. I like to start this look with a foundation or complexion product which minimises the effect of natural skin. If my skin is in good nick, I like Jones Road's What The Foundation (€54 via This ultra-nourishing tinted balm is rich and leaves the skin looking beautifully natural and hydrated. However, this guy is not going to cover any major imperfections, so if things in the skin department are not going so well, I favour IT Cosmetics' CC+ Cream (€48 via This product is still rich and hydrating, but also delivers brilliant coverage, which is even effective on redness and rosacea. Even if you prefer a more matte complexion product, though, you can achieve glow through cream and liquid products on targeted areas of the face. There are lots of blush/highlighter hybrid products on the market these days, and this is one of my favourite ways to add gloss to the face. For a fully glossy effect, you need an almost wet-look product rather than a shimmery finish. I like Jones Road's Miracle Balms (€40 via which come in 13 shades and leave the skin looking juicy and hydrated. Saie Beauty's Dew Blush (€23 via is a liquid formula which delivers a little more pigment, but still leaves the cheek with a dewy finish. If you're happy with your current blush and it's a cream or liquid formula, you can add gloss with a dedicated product. Danessa Myricks Beauty's Dew Wet Balm (€29.90 via is a great option. The balm is available in six colour options, which includes a transparent option that adds pure gloss (when I got it, I thought I'd been sent an empty product because it's so transparent) as well as slightly tinted and fully tinted options in coral, pink and bronze. Glossy products are handy to have in your bag as you can tap on some glow whenever you like. Aside from the aforementioned Miracle Balm and Dew Wet Balm, I am a big fan of hydrating sticks. My favourite is Korean brand VT Cosmetics' PDRN Essence Stick Balm, which delivers a beautifully glossy finish, but it's hard to get in Ireland (although if you're willing to pay postage, it's available on Amazon for $14.08). Another solid option is Nudestix Dewy Barrier Hydrating Stick (€33.90 via These products deliver nourishment and hydration as well as a beautiful gloss to the skin. Simply tap on with your fingertips and enjoy the glow. In short, juicy, glossy skin always looks beautiful, and it's achievable as long as you use the right products in the right places. Gloss on the cheekbones and perimeter of your face looks healthy and fresh — to avoid the sweaty look, avoid adding glow to the upper lip, undereye, and between the brows. Lost in translation 'Skin cycling' is a term I'm hearing more and more these days, but the practice has been around for as long as I've been interested in skincare. Essentially, skin cycling just means taking breaks from active ingredients such as retinol. Frequently, these ingredients are too powerful for daily use, so you may find using them every second night, or taking a weekly break for a day or two, works better for your skin. ADVERTISEMENT Something old... Unfortunately for me, my lashes are not what they once were. Sometimes, when I'm going through a phase when I'm on top of things and I'm applying lash serum every single night as part of my skincare routine, they come back to life, but the reality is they're sparser than they've ever been. As a result, it's much harder these days to apply mascara without making a mess. My shorter lashes don't create enough of a barrier, and chunky mascara brushes always result in the product ending up all over my eyelids. However, there is a way to combat this and it's via a slim applicator. For this reason, when my lashes are not in great shape I like MAC's Extended Play Lash Mascara (€24 via The formula is buildable and long-lasting, and the slim brush allows me to apply product to even the shortest lashes without making a mess. This product has been a staple of mine for years, and I will be buying it for as long as it exists. ... Something new I'm a big fan of Lancôme's Lash Idôle mascara, so when I heard they were launching a new version, I was keen to get my hands on it. The new Lash Idôle Flutter Extension Lengthening Mascara (€31 via places more of an emphasis on length than the original formula, which is all about volume, but is still buildable enough to allow you to achieve it if you want to. Its slim brush makes it easy to grab each and every lash and coat them completely from root to tip. This brush and formula also delivers individually fanned-out lashes, beautifully separated and full. Aside from that, it doesn't flake or transfer, and survives even fits of tear-filled emotion (let's not get into how I know that). This mascara has immediately joined my arsenal of favourites, and is ideal for people with thin or thinning lashes.
