The shake-up at Hotel Ivy continues, as its multi-million-dollar renovation approaches the final stages.
The downtown Minneapolis hotel has opened Bar Edera, a new bar adjacent to the hotel's lobby. It's open throughout the day with breakfast and coffee in the morning, followed by cocktails, bar snacks, and casual dinner options in the evenings.
Then, at an unspecified date in August, the hotel will open the Thor Cigar Lounge, a patio space for cigar lovers that will also offer cocktails.
The open-air lounge features fire pits and cocktail tables. However, it's not just a lounge, it's also retail-oriented. Guests can buy cigars, including "a selection of rare limited releases and vintage collections," according to the hotel's announcement.
It'll also sell branded merch and "high-end accessories."
"Bar Edera and Thor Cigar Lounge bring a new level of energy and elegance to Hotel Ivy," Mark Maggiotto, general manager of Hotel Ivy, says in a statement. "We're thrilled to share these new experiences with locals and our guests and delight them with two new places to gather and celebrate."
The bar's breakfast menu includes Smoke Salmon Tartine and Skirt Steak & Eggs. Later in the day, the menu touts Turkey & Bacon on Brioche and Walleye Po'Boy on Baguette, among other items.
The new spaces were designed by the Chicago and New Orleans-based Whitespace Interiors, with parquet floors, distressed leather, and natural brass accents, per the announcement. There will also be two large TVs that will primarily show sporting events.
The final steps of the Hotel Ivy renovation also include an updated lobby and new suite designs.
