Broncos CB Pat Surtain reacts to viral Ja'Marr Chase video: 'That is pretty cool'
Last month, Denver Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton joined a group of receivers from across the league in Miami for Chad Johnson's "Wideout Workshop." A viral video emerged from that camp showing Johnson discussing how to attempt to beat Broncos cornerback Pat Surtain in coverage. Johnson received pushback from Ja'Marr Chase and others debating how to play against PS2. After reporting for training camp earlier this week, Surtain was asked about the viral moment. The reigning Defensive Player of the Year confirmed that he had seen the video. 'I think there's a lot of respect that goes into it," Surtain said Tuesday. "I think the highest honor, highest respect you can get is from your peers. So hearing that is pretty cool to see -- telling "Ocho" it's not that easy. They know us best. It's major respect, so respect to them guys as well. You know in football, you go up against the best of the best each and every week, so to get respect from your peers like that means a lot.' The Cincinnati Bengals beat the Broncos 30-24 last season. Chase finished the game with nine receptions for 102 yards, but only three of those catches (for 27 yards) came with Surtain in coverage, according to NFL Next Gen Stats. Surtain and Chase will get a rematch on Monday Night Football when Denver hosts Cincinnati in Week 4. Social: Follow Broncos Wire on Facebook and Twitter/X! Packers' Jayden Reed training with star WRs at Chad Johnson's wideout workshop
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed was among several top players at the position training at Chad Johnson's first annual "Wideout Workshop" in Miami this week. According to the event's Instagram account, Johnson's "Wideout Workshop" will run July 7-9 and aims to bring together some of the NFL's top wide receivers to work on their craft ahead of the 2025 NFL season. Advertisement Johnson made six Pro Bowls and three All-Pro teams over a decorated 11-year NFL career as a wide receiver. He is now gathering stars from today's NFL to help grow the position into the future. Others attending the first day of the event include Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, Jerry Jeudy, Tyreek Hill, Courtland Sutton, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Elijah Moore, KJ Osborn and rookie Xavier Restrepo. Reed, a second-round pick of the Packers in 2023, led the team in receiving each of his first two NFL seasons. He produced 912 total yards and 10 total touchdowns as a rookie in 2023 and 1,020 yards and seven scores during his second season in 2024. Last season, Reed averaged 15.6 yards per catch and 11.4 yards per target, both career highs and among the best in the NFL. Advertisement Reed is now entering a pivotal third season in which he could be the top threat in the passing game for Jordan Love and the Packers. And it appears he's taking no time off before returning to Green Bay for the start of the 2025 season. Matt LaFleur's team starts training camp with an opening practice on Wednesday, July 23. Commanders' WR attends legendary NFL player's event
Legendary NFL tight ends Travis Kelce, George Kittle and Greg Olsen created "Tight End University" a few years back as a way for all tight ends to meet and learn from one another ahead of training camp every summer. It has been wildly successful, with current tight ends — including stars and young players — as well as retired players, participating. A goal for "Tight End U" was to create a brotherhood, team allegiances aside, for players to help one another. It's worked well, with all NFL teams having players choose to attend each year. Of course, Tight End U wasn't the first positional group to create this type of positional brotherhood. Von Miller created the "Von Miller Pass Rush Summit" in 2017. It's still going strong and is now called the "Sack Summit." Therefore, it would make sense for other legendary players to create something similar for their positions. That's what legendary wide receiver Chad Johnson did, creating the "Wideout Workshop" for NFL wide receivers and holding the first event last week. It was attended by stars such as Ja'Marr Chase, Tyreek Hill, Tee Higgins and Courtland Sutton. The Washington Commanders were represented, too. No, it wasn't Terry McLaurin or Deebo Samuel. Instead, K.J. Osborn, claimed off waivers last December and re-signed to a one-year deal in March, attended. Osborn, 28, is entering his sixth NFL season in 2025, having spent four years with the Vikings before splitting time with the Patriots and Commanders last season. Osborn only appeared in one game for Washington, but has 165 career receptions and 16 touchdowns. Osborn is battling for a roster spot, so it's smart for him to get as many reps as possible before training camp opens next week. McLaurin, Samuel, rookie Jaylin Lane, Luke McCaffrey and Noah Brown figure to have five receiver spots locked up. So, Osborn could be competing for the final receiver spot on Washington's 53-man roster.

Broncos had 1 player attend Chad Johnson's 'Wideout Workshop' in Miami
Former NFL wide receiver Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson hosted the first edition of his new "Wideout Workshop" in Miami earlier this week. It looks like there were at least 11 receivers in attendance, including Denver Broncos WR1 Courtland Sutton. Other receivers at the three-day workshop were Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, Jerry Jeudy, Tyreek Hill, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Elijah Moore, KJ Osborn, Jayden Reed, Robbie Chosen and Xavier Restrepo. Advertisement Johnson, 47, played in the NFL from 2001-2012, earning six Pro Bowl nods, two first-team All-Pro selections and one second-team All-Pro selection. Johnson spent most of his career with the Cincinnati Bengals, eventually hanging up his cleats with 11,059 receiving yards and 67 touchdowns. Johnson's "Wideout Workshop" follows the success of Von Miller's "Sack Summit" and "Tight End University," which was created by George Kittle, Travis Kelce and Greg Olsen. Viral video shows Ja'Marr Chase, Chad Johnson trying to overcome Pat Surtain
Ja'Marr Chase and Tyreek Hill were among a group of wide receivers who attended Chad Johnson's "Wideout Workshop" in Miami earlier this week. Denver Broncos receiver Courtland Sutton also attended the workouts, and his peers were befuddled by the task of trying to beat one of Sutton's teammates: star cornerback Pat Surtain. Advertisement In a video filmed by @2LiveCraig and reshared on social media by @TheHouseCallPod, Chase and Johnson discuss how to try to get off the line against PS2. Chase counters Johnson's suggestions while Sutton and ex-PS2 teammate Jerry Jeudy look on and chime in. The video has gone viral with more than 1.4 million views on Twitter/X alone: "They talking bout PS2 like he Thanos 😭," @MileHighMims commented. @MeinerzMuse added: "PS2 is so good he's got the top guys in the league discussing that he's unbeatable." "PS2 really puts fear in WRs hearts 😂😂," @RespectMyCos wrote. "Surtain will use this video in his next contract negotiations," @HermPhotography quipped. Advertisement It's the ultimate sign of respect for Surtain. At a camp for some of the best wide receivers in the NFL, they were collectively perplexed about how to try to beat PS2. "How many current and former all pro WRs does it take to figure out Pat Surtain? Apparently at least 4," @JasonHodl commented. Surtain was named the Defensive Player of the Year following the 2024 season. PS2 is widely considered the best cornerback in the NFL, and he's still only 25 years old. He figures to continue giving receivers nightmares for years to come. Social: Follow Broncos Wire on Facebook and Twitter/X! Did you know: These 25 celebrities are Broncos fans.
