Nate's debuts new spot in Scott's Addition with espresso and pizza bagels
The second location of Nate's Bagels opens Monday at 7am in Scott's Addition.
Why it matters: The new spot will be open daily with an espresso machine and slightly expanded menu, Sara Wignall, Nate's director of operations tells Axios.
State of play: Nate's Bagels announced their second location in 2023, landing at 1219 Highpoint Ave. in Scott's Addition in a building they bought earlier that year for $975,000, per BizSense.
The new spot boasts a takeout counter, the same stellar sandwich menu Richmonders have come to love at its Fan spot and three types of pizza bagels (cheese, pepperoni and pesto).
While there's no seating for now, they might add some in the coming months, Wignall says.
Zoom in: Nate's wanted to expand the menu and offerings in part because they have more room and in part as a thank you to their loyal fans from the beginning.
Flashback: Nate's got its start in Richmond in 2016, regularly selling out at pop-up shops and farmer's markets before launching a bagel subscription service later that year.
It opened its brick and mortar in 2018 in the Fan at the corners of Cary and Allen.
The new Nate's joins Baltik's Bagels in Stratford Hills, Chewy's Bagels in Carytown, Julio's Bagels on Brookland Park Boulevard and Nate's OG location in the Fan, bring the city's independent bagel shops tally to five, not counting pop-ups.
