Shaftesbury Capital signs Charlotte Tilbury in latest addition to Carnaby Street

High-end beauty brand Charlotte Tilbury is set to join London Soho's latest line-up of newcomers later this year, opening an anchor gateway unit on globally-renowned Carnaby Street. Spanning 4,200 sq ft, the unit will be located at one of the busiest entrance points to Carnaby Street, giving the brand 'a huge presence at the top of the iconic shopping destination', says operator Shaftesbury Capital. And continuing the location's fresh appeal, it joins recent arrivals PureSeoul, Tala, and Farm Rio and pop-ups for emerging brands De La Vali and Speltham. Charlotte Tilbury has already made a significant impact on Shaftesbury Capital's West End portfolio, with the recent opening of its upsized flagship store in Covent Garden, which tripled in size at the end of last year. Founder Charlotte Tilbury herself, who's also its president, chairwoman and chief creative officer, said: 'London's limitless spirit of creativity and self-expression is so inspiring! From the early days of my career as a make-up artist setting beauty trends at the seminal shows of London Fashion Week through to launching my first ever counter at Selfridges -- the city has played such an integral part in my career. It's the city where I opened my first ever Beauty Wonderland, and Covent Garden is now home to my biggest flagship store – it's an innovative, immersive hub of beauty education, expertise and artistry, a re-imagining of the customer experience.' William Oliver, director of Retail & Restaurant Leasing at Shaftesbury Capital, added: 'Charlotte Tilbury is theatrical and immersive, something that mirrors the foundation and heritage of Carnaby Street, and its global appeal and innovative approach are the qualities we look for, to ensure we deliver the elevated retail experience people have come to expect here.'

Pureseoul Carnaby opening will be its biggest store yet

Korean beauty brand Pureseoul has become the latest retailer set to open a flagship store on Soho's popular Carnaby Street, marking its largest UK location to date. It will be joining the Shaftesbury Capital-owned street in June, with the 3,000 sq ft, two-floor store, stocking over 2,000 curated products. Among those will be 30+ exclusive brands such as Torriden, Amuse, and Romand, 'making this store one of Europe's largest K-Beauty collections', the retailer said. 'Nodding to Korean retail trends and Carnaby Street's playful heritage', the flagship has been designed as a 'cultural hub for discovery, education, and celebration'. It promises to deliver 'a range of new, experiential features', including a multi-use area on the ground floor with a fully flexible fit-out. This means it can be transformed into an activity space for rotating pop-ups and workshops focused on skincare, as well as additional retail, it said. Leslie Tang, CEO of Pureseoul, added: 'What began as a small dream is now a platform shaping the future of Korean beauty. It's been amazing to see how much impact we have had on the industry in the last few years, and our plans are more ambitious than ever.' William Oliver, director of Retail Leasing at Shaftesbury Capital, also said: 'Selecting Carnaby Street as the home of its flagship and largest store to date speaks volumes about the appeal of our neighbourhood, and how we resonate with next-generation, culturally-driven brands.' It joins Soho's growing beauty and wellness offer, complementing the likes of Grown Alchemist, Malin + Goetz, Sculpted by Aimee, and luxury cosmetics/fragrance brands such as Aesop and Byredo.
