Independence Day Protests Planned By Activist Groups Across U.S.
As Americans prepare to celebrate Independence Day, several activist organizations with progressive and far-left affiliations are planning demonstrations across the country, including in Texas. As previously reported by The Dallas Express, activist groups have held a series of demonstrations in cities such as Los Angeles and Dallas. Organizers now plan to stage protests on July 4 under banners like 'No Kings Day' and 'Free America.' In Austin, near the Texas Capitol, a recent demonstration resulted in nine arrests, including one felony assault of a peace officer and multiple charges of resisting arrest, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. The Women's March organization and other far-left groups, including Indivisible and 50501, have scheduled demonstrations for July 4 in cities across the country, including several in Texas. The Women's March website encourages participants to gather 'on porches, in town squares, backyards, and streets' to 'stand for real freedom' and redefine what they describe as a 'Free America.' A protest planned in Denton, Texas, invites participants to hold up signs spelling 'NO KINGS' on an overpass. 'Signs are provided. Show up and grab a letter… we won't go back to living in tyranny,' the event listing reads. In South Dakota, the Women's March is hosting a pre-picnic demonstration. A flyer reads: 'Bring your friends, family, flags, and protest signs as we raise our voices against the ongoing erosion of our democratic values.' Promotional flyers include slogans like: The planned protests have drawn online criticism. Social media users have voiced opposition to the events. One user wrote, 'Go ahead and protest on America's birthday, and see how far that gets you.' Another user commented, 'These people despise everything that America stands for.' 'Every time there's a patriotic celebration, they try to counter it with protests,' a separate account posted. The Dallas Express reached out to Women's March and Indivisible for comment but did not receive a response by the time of publication.

Texas Leftists' July 4 Protests Go Up in Smoke
While Americans celebrated Independence Day with fireworks and community events, several left-leaning groups held small-scale protests across the country, including in Texas. As previously reported by The Dallas Express, far-left groups such as the Women's March, Indivisible, and 50501 had promoted July 4 demonstrations under banners like 'No Kings Day' and 'Free America.' The events were intended to criticize President Donald Trump and what organizers described as threats to democracy. In Dallas, a small crowd gathered at Main Street Garden Park. The event, which included participation from the Democratic Socialists of America, drew fewer than 100 attendees, as a DX video showed one speaker addressing a dozen people or fewer. Speakers at the Dallas rally referenced self-described Muslim socialist Zohran Mamdani, who recently gained national attention after winning the Democratic primary for mayor in New York City. Attendees staffed booths featuring shirts with slogans such as 'HANDS OFF' and 'BERNIE SANDERS,' as well as banners reading 'GENOCIDE.' A small number of individuals dressed in black clothing and carrying firearms, some of whom identified with ANTIFA, acted as security at the event. Houston saw even fewer participants. A July 4 protest planned in the city was reportedly canceled the night before, but approximately 20 people still arrived at the location unaware of the change. 'The July 4 protest was canceled in an email to police the night before in Houston, Texas. Organizers apparently did not notify the 20 protesters who had signed up,' Joseph Trimmer of Texas Scorecard posted on X. 'Currently singing about removing President Trump for their trans friends,' he added.

Are there Fourth of July protests? What to know about 'Free America' actions in Wisconsin
Alongside parades and fireworks, some Wisconsin cities will see protests, marches or even boycotts on the Fourth of July. As President Donald Trump's administration continues cracking down on immigration, school funding and other programs, local and national organizers are encouraging residents to spend part of their Independence Day in protest. The July 4 actions come after last month's nationwide 'No Kings' protests, which drew tens of thousands of people in more than 50 cities across Wisconsin. Here are the protests and boycotts planned in Wisconsin for Fourth of July: Fourth of July actions are planned in a handful of cities across Wisconsin, including Milwaukee and Madison. On Fourth of July, Women's March is hosting 'Free America' actions across the country, encouraging people to organize marches, rallies, parades, block parties or barbecues in protest. 'Together, we must Free America from the grip of greedy billionaires who rig the system for themselves,' the Women's March website says. Here are the July 4 protests planned in Wisconsin, according to Women's March: Milwaukee (Downtown): The Milwaukee Alliance Against Racist & Political Repression is hosting a 'People's Independence Day' march at 1 p.m. on July 4 at Red Arrow Park, 920 N. Water St. Milwaukee (Bay View): Supporters can join State Rep. Ryan Clancy, D-Milwaukee, as he marches in the Bay View Fourth of July parade. Meet 8:30 a.m. at 2301 S. Kinnickinnic Ave. Green Bay: A 'Free America' action is scheduled from 1 to 2 p.m. on July 4 at 100 E. Walnut St. Madison: The Madison Area Democratic Socialists of America is hosting a 'Solidarity BBQ' from 6 to 10 p.m. on July 4 at Brittingham Park, 829 W. Washington Ave. Oshkosh: A 'Free America' action is scheduled for 11 a.m. on July 4 at Opera House Square, 315 N. Main St. Neenah: Organizers are hosting a 'Sidewalk Chalk for Freedom' event from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on July 4 at Riverside Park, 500 E. Wisconsin Ave. Yes, there is a nationwide boycott planned for the Fourth of July. The action, called the 'July 4 Silent Protest,' was organized by The People's Union USA, the group behind other consumer spending freezes throughout 2025. John Schwarz, the group's leader, told The Arizona Republic in May the boycotts aren't directly related to companies' DEI positions, but rather to "hold corporations and corrupt systems accountable." The group is calling for consumers to not participate in parades or firework shows, as well as not shopping at big retailers, according to an Instagram post. 'If you do anything, support small, local businesses, or stay home with your loved ones,' the caption said. 'Let silence speak louder than fireworks.' Aside from The People's Union USA's 'silent protest' on July 4, the advocacy group has also called for a month-long boycott of these retailers: Amazon Home Depot Starbucks Walmart, McDonald's and Lowes will be the targets of a similar month-long action in August. The Left is celebrating July 4 with protests while the Right sees a patriotic revival
As President Donald Trump is preparing for Independence Day celebrations, some Democrats will be taking to the streets to protest on America's birthday as polls indicate a decreased sense of patriotism from those on the Left. Democrats across the country are organizing protests and boycotts on the 4th of July to make their voices heard that they do not agree with the direction the country is heading. A new Fox News poll showed that only 36% of Democrats say they are proud of the United States today, compared to 85% of Republicans expressing pride in their country. Now, in what some are calling the "No Kings 2.0" protests, Democrats are banding together in several states to lay out their grievances. The Women's March, whose mission is to "transform everyday women into feminists," is calling on protesters to join their "Free America Weekend." "Together, we must 'Free America' from the grip of greedy billionaires who rig the system for themselves," the website states. "Let's stop the rich and powerful from gambling our future away. Free America from poverty and end the rigged system where the wealthy live large while the middle class foots the bill. Everyone should be able to afford food, rent, health care, and a decent life. Free America from arbitrary firings and a flood of unlawful orders. No one should be subjected to authoritarians overwhelming us with policies designed to spread fear and control." "Free America from the grip of hate and the politics of fear," the website statement continues. "Everyone deserves to live safely, love who they love, and be treated with respect. Free America now—to protect our freedoms before they're gone. We need fair elections, the right to vote and protest, and real justice for all." John Schwarz, founder of The People's Union USA, released a video on Instagram calling for a boycott during the month of July to protest ICE arrests, among other policies, of the Trump administration. "This is the most important boycott of the year. It's not about politics, it's about principle," he said, instructing Americans to refrain from attending parades and fireworks shows. "It's about walking away from the illusion they've built and reclaiming what it actually means to be free." Schwarz said "there is no independence to celebrate right now," arguing the Constitution is being "trampled on." The People's Union USA founder has said the boycott must happen because people love America "too much to lie anymore." "Don't wave a flag for a country that no longer waves it for you," he continued. "The fourth of July is supposed to be a celebration of freedom, but what freedom are we actually talking about? The right to be watched? The right to be taxed, lied to, left behind, the right to vote between two corporate puppets? The right to work 60 hours a week and still struggle to pay rent, while billionaires dodge taxes?" The anticipated July 4 protests mark a contrast from the president's "America 250" initiative, which began on Memorial Day and counts down to the celebration of America's 250th birthday on July 4, 2026. "Task Force 250 invites citizens to have a renewed love of American history, experience the beauty of our country, and ignite a spirit of adventure and innovation that will raise our nation to new heights over the next 250 years," the website states. Ambassador Monica Crowley, who is chief of Protocol in the Trump administration, opened up about the year-long celebration for "the greatest nation the world has ever known" on FOX Business' "Kudlow." "The objective of 'America 250' is to bring the country together again," she said. "It's to unite America based on patriotism, shared values, and this renewed sense of pride in our country. That is something that President Trump has done his entire career, but certainly since he has been president over the last 10 years and this is something, a real point of celebration over the next year as we bring this party to all Americans, both here and abroad." President Trump kicked off this year's Independence Day celebration with a visit to Iowa Thursday night.
