Brit DJ surprises Glastonbury crowd as he performs exclusive secret set with his son after playing his 100th show at the festival
A beloved English DJ performed a secret set with his son for an intimate crowd at Glastonbury over the weekend. Fatboy Slim - who played his 100th set at the epic festival just over the weekend - treated lucky fans to a vibrant B2B act. The music legend, 61 - whose real name Norman Cook - was joined by his son Woody, 24. An Instagram clip shared by the BBC Radio official account, captured the veteran dad doing his moves behind the deck while Woody bounced around a platform. The internet star - who the singer shares with Zoe Ball - beamed to the cheering crowd and waved his arms cheerfully. Meanwhile the British DJ celebrated a unique milestone after playing his 100th set at Glastonbury, continuing to stun crowds with his tunes. The electronic legend was seen taking on an energetic set at the Luna stage as he lifted his arms in the air inciting the masses. Earlier in May, Woody insisted he has 'sweated his way through the industry'. He said that while he has followed in his famous parents' footsteps and become a DJ, he still put in the work rather than relying on his parents too much. He told new! magazine: 'I definitely felt that way [pressure] at the beginning, but my parents have been really good at putting me out on my own and letting me do it myself. 'I've sweated my way through the industry, I think people started to see that.' Although the ' nepo baby ' name tag has been thrown around, Woody argued it doesn't bother him, and credited his parents' support for his success rather than their jobs. He explained: 'I don't mind. I can't tell you who I'd be without my parents. They gave me the best education ever from them. I feel like I owe it all to that.' Woody previously pointed out it's 'not his job to care' what people think about him or his family ties. He told Bang Showbiz: 'Throughout school I was bullied and stuff, sometimes at parties people would say 'Shut up Fatboy's son'. 'It's opened up more doors, people always remember me. 'I'm quite eclectic, I'm quite weird. I share DNA with my parents. I'm always gonna be a bit like them in the end. 'Genetically I'm mildly similar but it's not my job to care. 'I cater to the people who love my music, they f****** love it. My music speaks for itself and I do not have to prove it to anyone.'

Brit music star surprises Glastonbury Festival fans by playing secret set with his son
GLASTONBURY fans were treated to a surprise double act today as a father and son duo performed a secret set. Playing to just a few dozen people, the pair brought plenty of energy to a tiny stage away from the hustle and bustle of the main arenas. 4 4 Glasto regular Fatboy Slim, 61, and son Woody Cook, 24, went B2B in the blazing sunshine and revellers lapped it up. Scene veteran Fatboy - real name Norman Cook - did his thing behind the decks as hype man Woody bounced around a platform. The young Cook, who previously insisted he isn't a nepo baby, beamed as he waved his arms and leapt up and down. Writing on Instagram, one fan wrote: "Well done lads x." Another said: "The best duo." A third shared: "Awesome!!! X." Adding to the family vibes on Worthy Farm this weekend, Woody's mum Zoe Ball, 54, debuted her new man, and he looks very similar to ex-husband Norman. The Radio 2 DJ was seen walking hand in hand with her new bloke in the hospitality area, a month after she hinted she'd met someone. An onlooker said: 'Zoe is down at Glastonbury as a punter and has brought her new boyfriend along for the ride. 'They seemed blissfully happy and were strolling along holding hands. Woody Cook has already started his pilgrimage to Worthy Farm
More than three weeks before the gates to Glastonbury 2025 officially open, Woody Cook had already started his pilgrimage to Worthy Farm. No, he didn't get the dates wrong and yes he's travelling from the UK. Along with the community he's built through his own record label, Truth Tribe, he's walking 192 miles from Dover to Pilton, getting to his destination the day before Glastonbury 2025 officially launches. They're a group of rebels with a cause, hoping to raise £20,000 for struggling grassroots music venues around the UK as well as protecting the natural spaces we inhabit. The trek has already proven to be much tougher than Woody – son of DJ Fatboy Slim and BBC presenter Zoe Ball – anticipated. Initially, they planned to walk 192 miles but immediately it was clear they'd be walking much further. With just over a week left to go, Woody tells Metro: 'Yesterday we had to climb through barbed wire because the footpath on OS Maps hadn't been maintained by the farmer and another time we got chased by horses, which is hilarious. It's quite scary but I think it was just coming over to say hello. '192 miles was a guesstimate but we didn't realise how much more we'd do. Sometimes the fastest route is along the road with no pavements. We've just been walking on the side of motorways so we're trying to avoid that.' The original plan would see Truth Tribe walk to Ibiza but, frustratingly, someone else got their first. Few destinations for a party starter are more exciting than Ibiza but a village next-door to the greatest festival in the world will certainly do. It's been at times relentless. As we talk over the phone, Woody gets to his car and discovers he's got a parking ticket but it's not enough to dampen his spirits. 'Between all the funguses and blisters, it's actually been amazing to wake up with mates and see these sights and places we'd never normally end up. 'I feel like this walk is the most sober I've been in June. Well, I did go sober for an entire summer once, but usually I'm doing a lot of gigs and getting free bottles of alcohol but when I'm walking I can't be arsed. I've been going to bed at 8pm.' Throughout their route, the collective has been stopping off in various towns to play small sets to wandering locals or any fans who make the effort to lend their support. They kicked off with Dover Arts Club, set up a day race at Action Water Sport, Lydd, threw a beach party in Camber Sands, fed ravers burgers and beats at in Hastings and rounded out their gigs at The Tempest bar on Brighton's seafront. Over the last decade, a third of UK grassroots venues in the UK closed. In 2023 alone, a grassroots venue shut its doors for good every two weeks, leaving communities without essential cultural spaces and depriving artists with the potential to be the next Adele or Ed Sheeran – as in, one of the UK's biggest financial exports. Despite our position as one of the most successful creators of music in the world, music venues are rarely given the same support as spaces such as theatres or galleries. In the pandemic, grassroots venues we relatively neglected and now so many that could have been saved are gone. 'We've got the highest beer tax in Europe, there's so much going against clubs. People say Gen Z and Gen Alpha are going clubbing less but the prices clubs are having to charge to stay afloat is incentivising us,' says Woody. 'We need the government to support these venues and grassroots venues the same way Berlin treats music venues as cultural hotspots that are protected spaces. We're constantly knocking out clubs down to build carparks and houses when some of them have been cultural standpoints for 35 years.' 'Some people might see clubbing as a nuisance but it brings together people from around the world and it brings in tourism. It's been shown in so many studies to relieve stress, help with mental health, and strengthen community.' Of course, club culture is literally in Woody's DNA. His mum Zoe Ball is woven in the fabric of the British music industry as one of the BBC's most trusted music broadcasters and his dad is the single most successful DJ of the 90s and early 00s, Norman Cook – aka Fatboy Slim. Both are Glastonbury regulars, Norman will be playing Glastonbury again this year on the Arcadia stage while his son is still climbing the ranks to play on the same podium as a headliner. As you'd expect, Woody's Glastonbury veteran. His first time at Worthy Farm he was carried there in his mum's womb. 'I think that somehow coded me,' he says. 'I also went the same year Michael Jackson died, but my parents swore never to take me until I was an adult. They couldn't go to any loud music because I said it was too loud and wanted to go to the kid's field.' More Trending 25 years later, he's bringing the noise – and lots of it. 'I've got 10 DJ sets at the festival so my marathon is only just beginning when I get there. I'm playing at Car Henge, on the Arcadia bug, a secret venue called Gorilla bar, and Scissors, an LGBTQ+ hairdressers-come-club. 'I love it, it's going to be a mainstay of the summer.' Zoe Ball set for new TV role just weeks after returning to BBC Radio 2
BBC Radio 2 presenter Zoe Ball is set to make a return to TV alongside her dad Johnny Ball and son Woody Cook. Ball returned to BBC Radio 2 in May after stepping down from her breakfast show in December 2024. She also hosted TV special VE Day 80: A Celebration to Remember on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on May 8. The 54-year-old could be set to star on a new factual series about maths, created by her father Johnny Ball, according The Sun. The new show would tell the story behind 'the history of maths' and is based on the first six chapters of his book - Wonders Beyond Numbers. Zoe and Johnny Ball would team up to host the show along with Zoe's son Woody Cook. Johnny Ball, speaking to The Sun, said: 'The material can be honed down to the essentials, so that anyone could present it in a light and transparent way. 'This is why I believe myself, Zoe and my grandson Woody could add all what each age group requires to make it a fascinating and revealing series.' A channel for this untitled show is yet to be decided, with Johnny hoping to convince TV bosses to commission the series, admitting having Zoe on board is a 'big pull'. Zoe and son Woody have appeared on Celebrity Gogglebox before, but this would be the first time three generations of Ball have appeared on air together. Zoe Ball announced she was quitting her BBC Radio 2 breakfast show role in December last year, and was eventually replaced early in 2025 by Scott Mills. She had been in the role for six years, but said it was time to step away so she could "focus on family". Ball, at the time, added: "It's been a privilege. I think the world of you listeners and I'm grateful to my bosses here for their support, especially this year." It came after a tough 2024 for the radio presenter who was forced to take time away from BBC Radio 2 after her mother, Julia, was "heartbreakingly" diagnosed with cancer before succumbing to the disease in April. Zoe Ball is set to 'share a rare insight into her life in surprise new TV gig featuring three generations of her family'
Zoe Ball has reportedly been eyeing up a return to TV and the surprise gig could be a family affair. The Radio 2 DJ's famous presenter father Johnny Ball, 87, is said to have created a new educational series - and he wants his daughter to front it. Johnny is known for popularising mathematics and The Sun has reported his new show will focus on the history of the subject. The show will feature Johnny, 87, his daughter Zoe, 54, and his DJ grandson Woody Cook, 24, and to complement the family hosting it will look at the history of maths across three generations. Johnny is said to be so invested in the series, he rejected the opportunity for him, Zoe and Woody to compete as a trio on Celebrity Race Across The World. It will be the second time Zoe appears on screen with her son Woody, who she shares with her ex-husband Fat Boy Slim, after they did Gogglebox together. It comes after last week Zoe revealed she was suffering from a new health condition, shortly after after making her Radio 2 comeback. She gave her listeners an update on her wellbeing as she spoke on her show and revealed she has been diagnosed with bursitis. Bursitis is when the fluid-filled sacs (bursa) that cushion the joints have become painful and swollen. It comes after last year she revealed she had been battling another painful health condition - TMJ (temporomandibular joint) - after announcing her departure from her Breakfast Show host role. At the time she said she was quitting her breakfast show to 'focus on family' and then also had to face the health condition which causes bad headaches. Speaking about her bursitis this weekend on her show she said: 'Yes, it's come to that. Fifty-four and I got bursitis.' Despite the pain she has still been training with her personal coach, Seth, in a bid to improve her strength. 'Thank you to Seth,' she said on the show. 'I found out I've got a… what is it? A rating of… was it a four or five on the fitness level? 'I was quite impressed with myself - out of, I think it's nine or ten. You've gotta start somewhere, haven't you?'. Zoe returned to her new Saturday afternoon show on BBC Radio 2 in early May after previously taking a step back to focus on time with her family. The star stepped down from her breakfast show in December to 'focus on her family,' bidding farewell to her £950,000 salary. Reconnecting with her listeners she announced: 'Hello it's me, oh it's lovely to be back on a Saturday. 'This is where it all began for me back when I used to sweep up and make the teas.' Happy to see the star's return, a viewer wrote: 'Great to have you back, Saturday afternoon is much better than having to wake up early.' She proceeded to read out some other well wishes she then added: 'It is lovely to be here thanks for all your messages'. After six years at the helm, Zoe handed her BBC Radio 2 breakfast show over to Scott Mills after stepping down to 'focus on family' just months after her mother Julia's death in April. Then in February, Radio 2 officially announced programme changes, including a new weekly show with Zoe (1-3pm on Saturdays). She will also be hosting two specials, including a BBC TV show celebrating Elaine Paige's 60-year career in showbusiness. Helen Thomas, Head of Radio 2, said at the time: 'Zoe is one of the UK's most loved presenters, so I'm thrilled to announce that she has a new home on Radio 2 on Saturday lunchtimes.
