Animesh Kujur breaks National Record in men's 100m

Animesh Kujur broke the National Record in the men's 100m during the second heat at the Dromia International Sprint & Relays Meeting in Greece on Saturday. The 200m National Record-holder clocked 10.18s — the first Indian to go below the 10.20s mark — to win Heat 2 at the World Athletics Continental Tour Silver event. He broke the previous NR of 10.20s set by Gurindervir Singh in March earlier this year at the Indian Grand Prix 2025 in Benglauru. The final for the men's 100m will take place tomorrow. The event is crucial for the youngster to gain important ranking points towards Worlds Qualifying. Other Indian athletes, including Manikanta Hoblidar, the men's 100m relay team and Moumita Mondal, will be in action on Sunday.

Mohammed Afsal breaks National Record in men's 800m again

Mohammed Afsal broke the 800m National Record while finishing sixth at the Czesław Cybulski Memorial 2025, a World Athletics Continental Tour Silver, in Poznan, Poland, on Saturday. The 29-year-old Afsal clocked 1 minute 44.93 seconds, becoming the first Indian to go below the 1:45 mark. Afsal bettered his previous NR of 1 minute and 45.61 seconds, which he had set in May 2025 at the UAE Athletics Grand Prix — he broke the seven-year-old record set by Jinsen Johnson in 2018. Afsal made headlines in 2023, when he won the silver medal in teh men's 800m event at the Hangzhou Asian Games. Meanwhile, It was a successful day for the home athletes as Maciej Wyderka, Filip Ostrowski and Patryk Sieradzki finished first, second and third respectively. Justin Davies of Great Britain finished fourth while his compatriot Tiarnan Crorken finished fifth.

Zoe Hobbs And Olivia McTaggart Win In Nancy

Zoe Hobbs has taken out the top spot over 100m at Meeting Stanislas in Nancy France on Friday evening local time. Hobbs returning to the track after her New Zealand record run in Ostrava, put down another quality 11.08s performance to finish clear of the field. Hobbs has continued with her strong form out of the blocks, and lead from gun to tape at the World Athletics Continental Tour Silver meeting. Hobbs will now turn her attention to the Meeting Herculis / The Monaco Diamond League on the 11th of July. Olivia McTaggart has also earned the top spot in Nancy. Clearing 4.53 in the pole vault to beat Angelica Moser of Switzerland on count back. McTaggart had a clean score card all the way to 4.63, clearing 4.33, 4.43, and 4.53 before missing three attempts at 4.63. Moser had a first time miss at 4.53 before clearing on her second attempt, allowing McTaggart in for the win. McTaggart will have a quick turn around for her next competition at Sotteville, France on 7 July.
