India - Pakistan WCL 2025 match called off, organizers issue apology fo hurting sentiments

World Championsip of Legend (WCL) organizers have officially confirmed that the India - Pakistan match in the league has been called off and they have also issued a public apology for hurting sentiment and hope of people. In a statement posted on their X handle, WCL said that the decision to have an India - Pakistan match came after a recent volleyball match between the two countries in order to create happy memories for the fans. The organizers say that this may have ended up hurting the feeling of many people and causing discomfort to the Indian legends. Prior to the official cancellation of the match, several Indian players like Suresh Raina, and Shikhar Dhawan informed the media that they would not be playing the India - Pakistan match. Dhawan also shared an email that he wrote to the organizers sharing that the decison not to play Pakistan had been communicated to them on 11 May. The email read that the decisison to not play Pakistan was related to geo-political situation. "Jo kadam 11 May ko liya, uspe aaj bhi waise hi khada hoon. Mera desh mere liye sab kuch hai, aur desh se badhkar kuch nahi hota. (I standby the decision I took on May 11. My country is everything for me and nothing is bigger than the country)" Dhawan wrote in his post. EasyMyTrip, one of the official sponsors of the tournament, has also issued an official statement on the matter, clarifying that despite entering into a 5 year sponsorship agreement with the WCL, it will not associate or participate in any match involving Pakistan. "Despite entering into a 5-year sponsorship agreement with the World Championship of Legends (WCL) two years ago, our stance has always been clear--EaseMyTrip will not be associated with or participate in any WCL match involving Pakistan. We proudly continue to support the India Champions and stand firmly by our team. However, as a matter of principle, we do not support or promote any match that includes Pakistan. This position was communicated unambiguously to the WCL team from the beginning. EaseMyTrip supports Team India, but will not engage in any match featuring Pakistan. Let's bring the cup home. Bharat First. Always." EaseMyTrip informed in a post on X.
