Gunther defeating a legend like Goldberg is a major push for his career Gunther appeared on the June 16th edition of Monday Night RAW to celebrate his World Championship win over Jey Uso last week. His moment of glory was interrupted by the return of Goldberg. At first, the WWE Hall of Famer congratulated The Ring General on becoming a two-time World Champion. However, the mood quickly changed as he reminded Gunther of their altercation at the 2024 Bad Blood PLE. On that night, Gunther dragged Goldberg's entire family into the mix in his hometown of Atlanta, Georgia. Having said that, Goldberg announced that he would conclude his business with Gunther in the same city, with a match against him at the July edition of WWE Saturday Night's Main Event. The match will be contested for the World Heavyweight Championship. Despite having the home field advantage, Goldberg walking out as the victor would not be a good booking for the company's future. Gunther is the future of the business and is amidst a massive heel run. A win over a legend like Goldberg would elevate his status further in WWE and garner more heat for him, beating the icon in his own hometown. For Goldberg, it could be his last chance for the business to showcase him as an in-ring competitor by putting over Gunther. Moreover, this could fetch The Ring General matches against more marquee names like Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, and even John Cena on his farewell tour, which could be highly beneficial for his WWE run. With the stage set for a huge collision at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event in Atlanta, it remains to be seen who will reign supreme when the bell rings. Also read:

WWE RAW: What is the real reason behind Gunther's win against Jey Uso?

(Image via WWE) WWE RAW witnessed a massive change on the June 9 edition, as Gunther reclaimed the World Heavyweight Championship from Jey Uso . Uso's world title reign ended with this bout as The Ring General regained the title, after delivering a power-packed in-ring action. The title change marks Gunther's second reign as World Heavyweight Champion after SummerSlam 2024. Some fans have expressed doubts about the choice to have Jey Uso lose the title back to the man he originally defeated, thereby ending Main Event Jey's 51-day reign. This led the fans to wonder why Gunther won in the first place, and now the real reason behind his win has been revealed. Let's find out the real reason behind The Ring General's big win at the recently held WWE RAW in Phoenix. The real reason behind Gunther's title win is revealed After Gunther's World Heavyweight Championship, the real reason seemed to have been revealed. Reports suggest that his win against Jey Uso was nothing but based on WWE's creative decisions. According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter , Gunther defeating Jey Uso was a decision made by Triple H, who wanted Gunther vs. Goldberg on the July 12 edition of Saturday Night's Main Event to be a title match. Meltzer specifically wrote the following about WWE: 'It was confirmed to us the reason this happened is because Paul Levesque made the call to make Gunther vs. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với sàn môi giới tin cậy IC Markets Tìm hiểu thêm Undo Bill Goldberg on 7/12's Saturday Night's Main Event a title match, likely since it was going on the same day as All In Texas.' He further added, 'Gunther vs. Goldberg was always going to be the retirement match, and it was always going against All in Texas and on NBC, with the idea of maximizing that day with the big match not on Netflix but on free network TV.' Though Dave Meltzer added that the company was planning for a Gunther vs. Goldberg bout to serve as Goldberg's final match, airing on NBC rather than Netflix, so that it would get the most attention possible on that big day. However, regarding Goldberg's retirement match, nothing has been officially declared yet by the WWE creative team. WWE crowns new World Heavyweight Champion as Jey Uso loses his belt after just 52 DAYS following shock defeat on Monday Night Raw

Jey Uso reign as WWE 's World Heavyweight Champion has ended after just 52 days, with Gunther reclaiming the title during a thrilling main event on Monday Night Raw. Gunther, who lost the belt to Uso at WrestleMania 41 in April, took his revenge by forcing the American to tap out with a brutal chokehold in the centre of the ring during the red brand's main event on Monday. The fact that Gunther used a sleeper hold to take back the belt was poetically ironic, given that the same move was used by Uso to beat him at WrestleMania 41. Their rivalry has been bubbling towards boiling point ever since Uso ended the Ring General's 259-day reign with a stunning 16-minute victory in Vegas. The 39-year-old wrestler twice defended the World Heavyweight Championship over his seven-week reign, first against Seth Rollins via disqualification on May 5 and then against Logan Paul 19 days later. Before Gunther's decisive chokehold, the two fighters traded blows both inside and outside the ring before the American landed multiple spears and an Uso Splash. On his second attempt from the top rope, Gunther took evasive action by rolling out of the way and quickly capitalised by using the submission move on Uso. Visibly shaken after regaining consciousness, Uso did not demand a rematch - and instead reflected on the defeat with an emotional speech to the Phoenix crowd. Capped off a huge weekend for @WWE with a 🔥🔥🔥main event on #WWERaw. Respect to Main Event (truly) Jey @WWEUsos and congratulations to our NEW World Heavyweight Champion @Gunther_AUT. — Triple H (@TripleH) June 10, 2025 'I'm sorry to my son. I'm sorry to everybody here. I fought my a** off,' Uso told the WWE fans. He also labelled Gunther one of 'the best pros he's ever faced'. Shortly after Raw's main event, WWE chief Triple H posted on social media to congratulate the Australian on retaining his title. 'Capped off a huge weekend for WWE with a main event on #WWERaw. Respect to Main Event (truly) Jey Uso and congratulations to our NEW World Heavyweight Champion Gunther,' Triple H said on X. Gunther is now the first wrestler to hold the championship twice, given the belt was first introduced back in May 2023.
