Ulaanbaatar Grand Slam Ends with Heavyweight Glory and Home Triumphs
It's the third and final day of the Ulaanbaatar Grand Slam and the heavyweights are ready to make their mark. At -90kg, Riku OKADA faced Umar BOZOROV. OKADA took the lead with a yuko score and managed to transition into a hold down - scoring ippon and securing his first gold medal on the World Judo Tour in confident style. IJF Head Referee Director Mr Armen BAGDASAROV awarded the medals. In the -78kg, European Champion Patricia SAMPAIO faced off against Mami UMEKI. SAMPAIO was looking good all day and the final was no different. Within the first minute she claimed the top spot on the podium - wasting no time. After a dominant day, she made her mark in Ulaanbaatar. Jenco Tour Bureau CEO Mrs Namuun BATTULGA awarded the medals. Anton SAVYTSKIY faced Zsombor VEG at -100kg. SAVYTSKIY earned his second Grand Slam gold medal after dominating the contest. He scored a waza-ari and a yuko and held off VEG for the victory. Mongolia Member of Parliament Mr Tsogtbaatar DAMDIN awarded the medals. At +78kg, Lea FONTAINE faced Jinesinuer AYIMAN. In Golden Score, FONTAINE had the edge and secured a decisive yuko - enough to add another gold medal to her growing collection. Former President of Mongolia His Excellency Mr Enkhbayar NAMBAR awarded the medals. Gonchigsuren BATKHUYAG faced Artem ZOLOTUKHIN at +100kg. A yuko on the board was enough for the home hero to claim his gold medal. Mongolian State Commissioner of Physical Culture & Sports Mr Bilegt ERDENESAIKHAN awarded the medals. The home athletes shone bright in Ulaanbaatar, treating fans to a thrilling display of world-class judo. That wraps up an incredible Grand Slam here in Ulaanbaatar.

IJF World Judo Tour: Rising Stars Shine in Mongolia
The IJF World Judo Tour has arrived in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. In the -48kg, Mitsuki KONDO faced Marina VOROBEVA. KONDO claimed her second Grand Slam gold medal after holding VOROBEVA down for ippon. A dominant display from the Japanese judoka. IJF Education & Coaching Director Mr Mohammed MERIDJA awarded the medals. Hiroto SHIRAKANE faced teammate Hayato KONDO at -60kg. A waza-ari in golden score took SHIRAKANE to the top of the podium in his first ever World Judo Tour event. It was a dream debut for the young Japanese judoka on the world stage. IJF Sport Director Mr Kosei INOUE awarded the medals. At -52kg, Kokoro FUJISHIRO faced Nandin-Erdene MYAGMARSUREN. A huge ippon from FUJISHIRO won her the contest and the gold medal. Her first on the World Judo Tour. A breakout performance! Ulaanbaatar Energy LLC CEO Mr Khurelsukh SODNOMDORJ awarded the medals. Abdurakhim NUTFULLOEV bested Denis VIERU with a tactical win In the -66kg, claiming Grand Slam gold. IJF Referee Director Mr Raul CAMACHO PEREZ awarded the medals. AIA faced Ana Viktorija PULJIZ at -57kg. A waza-ari score was enough for her to claim gold and earn her first Grand Slam title. Erdenet Province Judo Federation Head Mr Ariuna-Erdene BATTSEREN awarded the medals. BUDAPEST - Canada's Catherine Beauchemin-Pinard took the silver medal in the under-63-kilogram weight class at the world judo championships Monday after losing the final bout in extra time. Japan's Haruka Kaju, unbeaten since her World Judo Tour debut last year, withstood Beauchemin-Pinard's ground game and scored a pin for ippon — or full point — in 'golden score' sudden death. It was the second world championship silver for Beauchemin-Pinard, who also finished runner-up in 2022. The 30-year-old from Montreal also won bronze in the weight class at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 and gold at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and the 2019 and 2020 Pan American championships. Beauchemin-Pinard, who had a bye in the first round, beat South Africa's Jasmine Martin, Slovenia's Kaja Kajzer, Mongolia's Enkhriilen Lkhagvatogoo and Brazil's Rafaela Silva en route to the final. Three of her four wins came by ippon, but she couldn't continue her dominance against the Japanese rising star. 'It's still really fresh and I think it's going to take me a few more days to digest this defeat, because I felt I could have beaten (Kaju),' Beauchemin-Pinard said. Still, Beauchemin-Pinard said she was proud to reach the podium. 'I'm thrilled with my result,' she said. 'Obviously, immediately after the fight, I was disappointed because the gold medal was well within reach. I felt like I'd lost the gold rather than won silver, but as the day went on, I realized that I had put in a great day's fighting.' In other action, François Gauthier-Drapeau of Alma, Que., lost his first bout in the under-81 kg category to Zaur Dvalashvili of Georgia.
