(Photo by ADEK BERRY/AFP via Getty Images) Faith Kipyegon fell short of becoming the first woman to record a sub-four-minute mile time during Thursday's Nike Breaking4 event at Stade Sébastien Charléty in Paris, France. The Kenya native completed the four laps in a time of 4:06.42, besting her world record time of 4:07.64 set during a 2023 Diamond League meet in Monaco. While Kipyegon broke her own record, the Nike Breaking4 event is considered an exhibition, so her Thursday time is not eligible for record consideration. 'I want this attempt to say to women, 'You can dream and make your dreams valid,'' Kipyegon said ahead of her attempt. 'This is the way to go as women, to push boundaries and dream big.' Her running résumé includes three Olympic gold medals, four World Championships golds, five Diamond League titles and two world records. The Stade Sébastien Charléty is a special venue for Kipyegon as it is the place she broke both the 1500m and 5000m world records.
