Koppal: To address safety concerns on National Highway-50, four flyovers are being built at Rs 11.9 crore at Hosalingapur Cross, Hosalli Cross, Hitnal Cross and Methgal Cross, Koppal MP K Rajasekhar Hitnal said on Friday. Construction tenders were issued for the flyovers on NH-50, which is witnessing accidents from the toll gate to the tunnel, where around 100 deaths occur annually, he said. At a press conference held at his office on Friday, MP Hitnal discussed development initiatives undertaken in Koppal Lok Sabha constituency. Also, a proposal was presented to Union transport minister Nitin Gadkari for implementing a security system and CCTV surveillance to monitor speed and Rs 2 crore was allocated for this project. The MP detailed plans for improving postal infrastructure through CSR funding. With 182 post offices in the district, several companies pledged support. X India and Mukand companies will construct two post office buildings each, while Kirloskar and Kalyani companies agreed to build 15 post offices each. Around 35 post office buildings are expected to be completed this year. He announced that a detailed project report worth Rs 169 crore was submitted to the central govt for developing Sri Huligemma Devi Temple in Huligi under the Prasad-2 scheme. The central govt's budget for 2025-26 approved a new Kendriya Vidyalaya in Sindhanur City, along with the construction of a railway line between Bagalkot and Gangavati, Hitnal said.
