The film's production involved grand war sequences choreographed by national and international experts, shot on a sprawling 25-acre set in Karnataka's mountains, with nearly 3,000 cast and crew members involved. Rishab Shetty underwent extensive training in horse riding, Kalaripayattu, and sword fighting to bring authenticity to his role. Latest reports suggest that the actor-director has landed a staggering deal for the upcoming project. As per a Koimoi report, Rishab Shetty has reportedly been given a massive pay hike, which will be nearly 25 times what he earned for the original film. 'Kantara' earned Shetty a National Award and also went on to rake in over Rs 400 crore at the global box office. For that project, Rishab had reportedly taken home around Rs 4 crore. But for the upcoming prequel, 'Kantara: Chapter 1', he is said to be earning a whopping Rs 100 crore overall, making it one of the biggest compensation packages in South Indian cinema. The actor was jailed for several months before being granted bail in December 2024, along with 16 others, including actress Pavithra Gowda , who is Darshan 's partner. Since his release on bail, Darshan has resumed his acting career and is currently shooting for the Kannada action film 'The Devil', directed and produced by Prakash. As per a Pinkvilla report, Darshan has recently filed a petition in a Bengaluru trial court seeking permission for foreign travel. He requested approval to visit Dubai and Europe from June 1 to June 25, 2025. However, the special public prosecutor has objected to this plea, expressing concerns that if Darshan leaves the country, the likelihood of his return is minimal. The court was expected to deliver its verdict on this matter by the end of May 29, 2025. For the unversed, Renukaswamy, a resident of Chitradurga, was allegedly abducted and brutally tortured before being killed, with reports implicating Darshan and his associates in the crime. As per the reports, Renukaswamy was lured to a shed in Bengaluru.
