Let's make one thing clear right away: there is currently no such thing as Yellowstone season 6, nor will there be a season 6 release date here. The blockbuster series concluded in December 2024 with the 14th episode of its fifth and final season. However, the story of the Dutton family and its surviving members will live on. Through various spinoffs, at least one of which remains untitled, fans will get an upcoming prequel series and additional franchise entries, complete with brand-new characters and high-profile cast members. Here's everything we know so far. Kevin Costner in 'Yellowstone' season 5 (2022) | Image: Paramount Network Is There a Yellowstone Season 6? The modern Western series Yellowstone garnered a massive following over its five-season run. Behind the scenes, however, creator Taylor Sheridan and star Kevin Costner waged a battle more epic than one of the show's fictional storylines. As a direct result (SPOILER ALERT), rancher John Dutton (played by Costner) was killed off in Season 5, making it the final season. Hence, there is no Yellowstone season 6, and there probably never will be. But one shouldn't take that to mean the adventures of Beth Dutton and the other main characters won't continue. Rather than develop an official Yellowstone season 6, Sheridan has instead created a variety of spin-offs. Some will follow the Duttons while others will introduce new characters and storylines. 'Yellowstone' Season 5 Part 2 | Image: Stan Australia Yellowstone New Season Potential Casting & Plot While there's no indication that Yellowstone will continue as a mothership series, its assorted spinoffs may collectively or respectively constitute a new season. So the question is: where did the story leave off? And for anyone who hasn't yet watched season 5, there are more SPOILERS AHEAD. Well, John Dutton is dead and buried, for one, and his ranch has been sold off to the Broken Rock tribe by his son, Kayce (Luke Grimes). John's daughter, Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly), killed her adopted brother, Jamie (Wes Bentley), and then moved to a small ranch in the town of Dillon. There, she plans to start a new life with her husband, Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser), and with the young boy she's taken under her wing, Carter (Finn Little). Regarding the upcoming spinoffs, we have an idea of where the story goes from here for Kayce Dutton, who was given back a piece of the ranch by the Broken Rock tribe. In the new series Y: Marshals, Kayce joins an elite unit of the U.S. Marshals and takes on dangerous domestic crimes. The future of Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler remains less clear. Cole Hauser in 'Yellowstone' season 5 (2022) | Image: Paramount Network What's Next for Yellowstone? Here's where things get downright muddy, so bear with us. In the fall of 2023, it was announced that the Yellowstone franchise was developing a sequel series under the working title 2024, with Matthew McConaughey attached. It was then reported that McConaughey dropped out, and that Kurt Russell was cast in either the same role or in a different role for the same series. Additional rumours suggested that existing characters such as Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler would make guest appearances. In the time since, Kurt Russell has likewise left the Yellowstone universe (for now), and the series in which he was attached to star has become The Madison. Starring Michelle Pfeiffer and Patrick J. Adams, it will follow a New York City family to central Montana. Meanwhile, characters Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler are slated to appear in their own untitled spin-off, which will arguably be the closest one can get to Yellowstone season 6. There's no release date as of yet, and it's not even clear whether the series has started filming. In addition to The Madison, Y: Marshals, and the untitled Yellowstone spinoff, we're getting 1944, a prequel series that follows in the vein of 1883 and 1923 by exploring the Dutton family history. There's also 6666, a long-awaited spinoff set on Taylor Sheridan's enormous Texas ranch. And to think you just came here looking for the Yellowstone season 6 release date! Cole Hauser in 'Yellowstone' season 5 (2022) | Image: Paramount Network Here's a brief rundown of all the upcoming franchise instalments. The Madison (Release Date: 2026) This is the series that was supposed to star Kurt Russell, who's since left the project. Michelle Pfeiffer plays Stacy Clyburn, a wealthy New Yorker whose husband and brother-in-law are killed in a plane crash. Looking for a fresh start, she and her family move to the heart of Montana. Y: Marshals (Release Date: 2026) This upcoming series will continue the adventures of Yellowstone character Kayce Dutton. A former NAVY SEAL and modern cowboy, Dutton joins an elite unit of the U.S. Marshals. While protecting the region against violent threats, he struggles to balance his personal and professional life. It will air on CBS as part of the network's midseason lineup. 6666 Taylor Sheridan spent a fortune on the real-life Four Sixes Ranch in Texas, and what better way to recoup some of the cost than this long-gestating drama series? The sprawling property previously appeared in Yellowstone but now takes centre stage for an exploration of man vs nature. There's a chance that characters Jimmy (Jefferson White) and Emily (Kathryn Kelly) – who met on the ranch in Yellowstone season 4 – will appear, but nothing has been confirmed. Details are scarce, and so are release dates. 1944 Fans adore the Yellowstone prequels 1883 and 1923, which respectively chronicle the history of the Dutton family and their Montana ranch. The historical action will continue with this brand-new prequel series set in 1944. There's no information about the cast or plot available just yet, but many suspect that the series will incorporate WWII and maybe even follow characters into battle. Untitled Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler Spinoff Series Just before Yellowstone concluded, it was announced that characters Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler would get their own spinoff series. Previous reports called it Dutton Ranch, but that name has since been disputed, and the series remains untitled. What we do know is that it will take place in the present day and centre around the married couple. If you're looking for Yellowstone season 6, this is presumably as close as you can get. That said, we don't have specific plot details to share at this time. The Yellowstone Phenomenon Yellowstone debuted in 2018 and steadily gained viewership over five seasons. Between the mothership series and its assorted prequels, the franchise has become nothing short of a cultural phenomenon. We primarily have compelling characters, lavish production values, historically rich settings, and gripping storylines to thank, though the series also offers an escape from the standard progressive fare (that said, dubbing the show 'political' tends to oversimplify its intentions). Behind the scenes, creator Taylor Sheridan has reportedly butted heads with former star Kevin Costner and Paramount Network alike, but that hasn't stopped millions of viewers from tuning in to Yellowstone and its assorted spinoffs. Other Sheridan creations such as Landman and Tulsa King have likewise garnered high ratings and loyal followings. Where Can I Watch Yellowstone? Yellowstone is produced by Paramount Network, but due to a licensing deal with NBCUniversal Peacock, the series isn't available to stream on Paramount+. Instead, episodes are available for streaming to subscribers on Peacock and Philo in the US, and premium subscribers on Hulu and fuboTV. One can also rent episodes or entire seasons on platforms like Prime Video and YouTube. To make matters slightly more confusing (a recurring theme, as you'll notice), Paramount+ does have the streaming rights to the prequels 1883 and 1923. Paramount Global also owns CBS, which will air Y: Marshals, meaning the spinoff series will likely stream on Paramount+. So too will the upcoming prequel series 1944, as it's being produced directly by Paramount+. Here in Australia, though, you can watch all five seasons of Yellowstone on Stan, both spin-offs 1883 and 1923 on Amazon Prime via a Paramount+ subscription. 1883 | Image: CBS How to Watch the Yellowstone Franchise in Order The Yellowstone universe is expanding across space and time alike, with 6666 heading to Texas while 1944 journeys back to WWII. As you gear up for all these reported sequels and prequels, why not take the ultimate history course in the meantime? Here's how to watch the current Yellowstone franchise in order. 1883 – This limited series follows the early Dutton family out of Texas as they look for a better life in Montana. – This limited series follows the early Dutton family out of Texas as they look for a better life in Montana. 1923 – Over the course of two seasons, patriarch Jacob Dutton (Harrison Ford) and his wife Cara (Helen Mirren) contend with Prohibition, Westward expansion, drought, the Great Depression, and other challenges. – Over the course of two seasons, patriarch Jacob Dutton (Harrison Ford) and his wife Cara (Helen Mirren) contend with Prohibition, Westward expansion, drought, the Great Depression, and other challenges. Yellowstone's Luke Grimes teases return of 'fan-favourites' in major spin-off update
Yellowstone is set to expand its universe with the upcoming spin-off Y: Marshals starring Luke Grimes Yellowstone official trailer Yellowstone enthusiasts can eagerly anticipate a plethora of spin-offs and sequels following the conclusion of the fifth and final season of the main drama late last year. Initially starring Kevin Costner as the formidable ranch owner John Dutton, the Paramount series experienced a significant delay when the Hollywood star departed midway through the final season. Shifting its focus to John's children, Beth (played by Kelly Reilly), Kayce (Grimes), and Jamie (Wes Bentley), the Taylor Sheridan-helmed franchise will perpetuate the Dutton narrative through numerous planned offshoots. Among these is the forthcoming CBS series Y: Marshals, which will see Kayce's return as he joins "an elite unit of US Marshals". The synopsis elaborates that he will be "combining his skills as a cowboy and Navy SEAL to bring range justice to Montana, where he and his teammates must balance family, duty and the high psychological cost that comes with serving as the last line of defense in the region's war on violence", reports the Mirror US. As of now, Grimes is the sole primary cast member from the original Yellowstone series confirmed to be participating in the new endeavour. However, in a significant update for the spin-off, the actor hinted that some familiar faces might make sporadic appearances. "You will see some familiar faces," he confirmed during an interview with TooFab while promoting his new film, Ari Aster's Eddington. "I'm excited to do it. It's going to be year eight for me, playing the same character, which is, who would have thought that I would ever play a character for eight years?" While it remains a mystery as to whom Grimes might be alluding, there's a strong possibility that both Beth and her spouse Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) could grace the screen with cameos, especially since they're set to lead their own spin-off series. It's also a reasonable bet to expect Kayce's partner Monica (Kelsey Asbille) and their offspring Tate (Brecken Merrill) to feature prominently. "[Kayce's] really close to my heart," Grimes continued. "He feels like a family member, and it would be weird to fully let him go anyway, so I'm glad we get to reconnect." Besides Y: Marshals and the series centred on Beth and Rip, another spin-off in the works, titled The Madison, will introduce viewers to a fresh clan within the Yellowstone world, headed by Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell. Rumours suggest this new chapter could debut towards the end of 2025 or at the start of 2026, so fans should keep their diaries open for an influx of Yellowstone-related material in the forthcoming months.

From ‘Dutton Ranch' to ‘Y: Marshals' and beyond: Everything to know about the upcoming ‘Yellowstone' spinoffs
Yellowstone, the mega-hit neo-Western series from superproducer Taylor Sheridan, came to an end after five seasons in 2024, but the show's universe continues to expand. There are five publicly announced sequels, prequels, and spinoffs in various stages of development. They'll follow the prequels that have already aired, 1883 and 1923, as well as Sheridan's collection of non-Yellowstone shows on Paramount+, Mayor of Kingstown, Tulsa King, Lawmen, Lioness, and Landman. Here's everything we know so far about each of Sheridan's various Yellowstone expansions, from the forthcoming to the off in the distance. The most direct successor to Yellowstone is the sequel series focused on Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly), John Dutton's (Kevin Costner) hell-raising daughter, and her husband, tough ranch foreman Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser). While an official title has not been announced, Bloomberg reports that the project is tentatively titled Dutton Ranch, and is expected to premiere this fall on Paramount Network and stream on Paramount+. Paramount has not officially confirmed that the series is happening, so no plot details are available. Other characters from Yellowstone are expected to appear on the series, which Sheridan is developing. More from GoldDerby 'The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power' star Charlie Vickers breaks down Sauron's emotional reaction to killing Celebrimbor Netflix renews 'The Four Seasons,' 'The Diplomat,' and 'Bridgerton' for new seasons Jeremy Allen White and Austin Butler team up for 'Enemies,' Maya Hawke joins 'Hunger Games' prequel, 'Smurfs' trailer drops, and more top news In the Yellowstone series finale, Beth and Rip killed her adoptive brother, Jamie (Wes Bentley), for the crime of going against the family. With the ranch sold, they moved to Dillon, Mont., a town that tourists haven't discovered yet, to start their own ranch. Y: Marshals was officially announced in May 2025. It will likely be the spinoff that differs the most from Yellowstone. Luke Grimes will star as Kayce Dutton, John's youngest son, a Navy SEAL and a cowboy. He'll put all of his skills to work as he joins an elite unit of the U.S. Marshal Service tasked with 'bringing range justice to Montana, where he and his teammates must balance family, duty and the high psychological cost that comes with serving as the last line of defense in the region's war on violence.' Unlike the other shows in the franchise, which debut on Paramount Network or Paramount+, Y: Marshals will air on CBS on Sunday nights at 9 p.m. ET/PT in spring 2026, with episodes streaming on Paramount+ after that. And Sheridan is not the showrunner; that job will go to executive producer Spencer Hudnut, who developed the show. Hudnut previously worked as showrunner for CBS/Paramount+'s military drama SEAL Team. Sheridan's level of involvement in the series is to be determined. The budget will align with other broadcast series, not other Yellowstone shows, which can approach $20 million an episode. So far, Grimes is the only actor officially cast, and it remains to be seen if Kayce's family from Yellowstone, wife Monica (Kelsey Asbille), and son Tate (Brecken Merrill) will come with him. In the series finale of Yellowstone, Kayce engineered a deal to sell the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch to Thomas Rainwater (Gil Birmingham) and his tribe for $1.25 an acre, unwittingly fulfilling a promise his ancestor James Dutton (Tim McGraw) made to return the land to the tribe after seven generations when he bought it in 1883. As a condition of the deal, the land could never be developed, and Kayce and his family kept a small parcel of land to live on. The most enigmatic spinoff is The Madison. In 2023, during the standoff between producers and Costner that shut production on Yellowstone down for almost two years, Paramount greenlit a hazily defined present-day spinoff with Matthew McConaughey in talks to star. At one point the show was given the working title 2024, and McConaughey never signed on. Eventually, the idea evolved into The Madison, which was formally announced in 2024. The Madison is described as 'a heartfelt study of grief and human connection following a New York City family in the Madison River valley of central Montana.' Academy Award nominee Michelle Pfeiffer leads the cast as family matriarch Stacy Clyburn, and the show also features Patrick J. Adams, Matthew Fox, Elle Chapman, Beau Garrett, Amiah Miller, Ben Schnetzer, Kevin Zegers, Rebecca Spence, Alaina Pollack, and Danielle Vasinova. It's created by Sheridan and directed by Yellowstone's cinematographer-turned-director Christina Alexandra Voros. The season was filmed from September to December 2024 in Montana and Texas. Since then, news about The Madison has been scarce. A premiere date has not been set. The series will stream on Paramount+, but it's unclear if it will also air on Paramount Network. It's unknown how The Madison relates to Yellowstone, or if a connection to Yellowstone is still part of the show's concept. Sheridan tends to keep this information close to the vest, so we'll find out when he's ready to tell us. After 1883 and 1923 comes 1944. Like the other prequel series, Paramount+'s 1944 will tell the story of what happened in the Dutton family in the titular year. The series was ordered in 2023 and officially announced as the next prequel coming to air during the series finale of 1923. While no plot details for 1944 have been announced, the show will surely deal with the effects of World War II on the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch, and could potentially feature an older version of 1923's Spencer Dutton, who Brandon Sklenar played on that series. 6666 — pronounced 'four sixes' — is the longest-simmering spinoff. It was announced as being in development in February 2021, around the same time that 1883, the first spinoff, was announced. 6666 is to be set at the 6666 Ranch, a historic real-life ranch in Texas that Sheridan partially owns. Portions of Yellowstone Seasons 4 and 5 took place at the ranch. Ranch hand Jimmy Hurdstrom (Jefferson White) went there to work and learned that everything is bigger in Texas. Jimmy seemed to be the way into the spinoff, but nothing has panned out so far. It remains to be seen if 6666 ever comes to fruition. The official series description was released in 2021: 'Founded when Comanches still ruled West Texas, no ranch in America is more steeped in the history of the West than the 6666. Still operating as it did two centuries before, and encompassing an entire county, the 6666 is where the rule of law and the laws of nature merge in a place where the most dangerous thing one does is the next thing. … The 6666 is synonymous with the merciless endeavor to raise the finest horses and livestock in the world, and ultimately where world class cowboys are born and made.' Everything known about 'Watson' season 2: Schedule, returning cast, and story developments after season finale
Following its two-part finale that aired on May 11, Watson has entered a new chapter, with CBS outlining plans for the series to return in its 2025-2026 broadcast lineup. The show, which stars Morris Chestnut as Dr. John Watson, wrapped its debut season with a dramatic confrontation involving James Moriarty, portrayed by Randall Park. Set in present-day Pittsburgh, Watson reimagines the classic literary figure as the head of the Holmes Clinic of Diagnostic Medicine, where he and his team investigate complex medical mysteries. Described by Chestnut as 'doc-detectives,' the characters work both inside and outside the hospital to uncover causes of rare illnesses. The season's final episodes introduced Moriarty as the figure behind Sherlock Holmes' presumed death, a storyline that added intensity and lasting consequences for the clinic's staff. 'By the end, every member of Watson's team is permanently changed,' said executive producer Craig Sweeny. 'And not all the doctors make it to Season 2 as part of the group.' Although a specific premiere date has not been announced, CBS has placed Watson in its upcoming Sunday night slot at 10 p.m., following the new Yellowstone spinoff Y: Marshals. Speculation continues around which cast members will return, though Chestnut is expected to reprise his lead role. Season one also featured performances from Eve Harlow, Rochelle Aytes, Inga Schlingmann, Peter Mark Kendall, Ritchie Coster, Riley Orr, and Randall Park. Despite ongoing questions about Sherlock Holmes' fate, Sweeny has expressed no current plans to introduce him as a recurring figure. 'My belief is that Holmes is gone,' he said. 'But I don't want to be held to that if there's some great story.' Watson is available to watch on CBS, with streaming options on Paramount+ and Pluto.
