Censor Board clears Fahadh Faasil, Vadivelu's travel thriller 'Mareesan' for release with U/A certificate
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has now cleared director Sudeesh Shankar's eagerly awaited travel thriller, 'Mareesan', featuring Fahadh Faasil and Vadivelu in the lead, for release with a U/A certificate. The film has triggered huge expectations as this is the second film that both actors, who are highly rated for their acting skills, are working together. The first film that they worked on together was Mari Selvaraj's socio-political drama 'Maamanan', which was not only a superhit but was also critically acclaimed. One other reason why 'Mareesan' has raised expectations-- not just among fans and film buffs but also industry insiders -- is that this film will be the 98th film of Super Good Films, a production house that is known for having produced several quality films and for having introduced several iconic directors of the Tamil film industry. Samantha Ruth Prabhu's 'Yashoda' gets U/A certification from CBFC A trailer of the film that was released recently by the makers has only gone on to add to the excitement of fans. The trailer gives away the fact that Fahadh Faasil plays a thief who is looking for his next victim. He happens to notice Vadivelu, an Alzheimer's patient, withdrawing a lump sum of cash. Vadivelu, who knows his memory is failing, decides he will go to a friend's place in Thiruvannamalai. Fahadh, seeing an opportunity to steal the money that Vadivelu has, offers to drop him there on his motorcycle. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Offer Valid for the First 100 Bookings Only Birla Estates Learn More Undo As the two begin to undertake the long journey, things change. (Image for representation) The woman was found dumped in a garbage pile in Mumbai's Aarey Colony. (Hindustan Times) Yashoda Gaikwad, 60, who reportedly has skin cancer and mental health issues, was found lying among piles of rotting garbage last week. Her pictures were circulated online, and her family was traced in Kandivali, police said. Her family initially said Yashoda went out of the house on her own, and claimed she had done so in the past as well. However, fresh CCTV footage has now countered these claims. According to an NDTV report, the clip from a hospital showed Yashoda's grandson Sagar Shewale and his uncle Babasaheb Gaikwad bringing the elderly woman in, but also taking her out. They reportedly wanted to hospitalise her but she was denied admission. The CCTV clip did not align with earlier statements by Yashoda's family, and upon further questioning, Sagar Shewale admitted to dumping his grandmother in a garbage pile. The uncle and nephew got home from the hospital at around 3:30 am, later took help from a rickshaw driver, and abandoned Yashoda. The Mumbai Police found Yashoda Gaikwad in unit number 32 of Aarey Colony last week. She was admitted to civic-run Cooper Hospital in Vile Parle according to news agency PTI. "The woman told us her name was Yashoda Gaikwad and that she used to live with her grandson in Malad. She claimed he brought her to Aarey and dumped her. The two addresses she provided were of no use as no one was staying there," a police official said. Sagar Shewale and his uncle have not been arrested yet, but have been charged under section 125 of BNS (negligence), and under Section 24 of the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007 for abandoning Yashoda.

Case registered against Kalpika Ganesh for misconduct at Hyderabad pub over dessert
Telugu actor Kalpika Ganesh, known for her roles in films like Yashoda and Sita on the Road, has been booked by the Gachibowli police in connection with an alleged altercation at a prominent Hyderabad restaurant, Odeum by Prism. The incident, which took place on 29 May, came to public attention after videos capturing the episode went viral on social media platforms. (Also Read: Kalpika Ganesh posts video of altercation with pub management; internet blames her for demanding 'free cake') As per the First Information Report (FIR), a formal complaint was submitted by Deepak Bajaj (38), Managing Partner of Prism Club & Kitchen, on 6 June 2025, outlining a series of disruptive actions allegedly committed by Ganesh during her visit to the venue. According to the complaint, Kalpika, accompanied by a male guest, dined at the restaurant and consumed ₹2,200 worth of food and beverages. At the time of billing, around 11:30 PM, she allegedly demanded that the dessert, a cheesecake, be offered complimentary. Though the management extended a gesture of goodwill by offering a brownie instead, the complainant alleged that Kalpika refused to settle the bill, became aggressive, and verbally abused the Deputy General Manager and General Manager, including derogatory and body-shaming remarks. The situation reportedly escalated when she threw the brownie plate, causing disturbances on the premises. The FIR further states that she went live on Instagram, declaring she was doing it for her followers, and subsequently made false accusations of rape and molestation on social media. Kalpika Ganesh has also shared a video of the incident on her Instagram handle. The complaint also noted that even in the presence of police officers, the actor allegedly continued her disruptive behaviour, refused to cooperate, and verbally abused the personnel. A post shared by iamkalpika (@iamkalpika27) Management claimed that the episode led to reputational harm to both the establishment and its staff, as well as property damage, verbal and physical abuse, false public narratives, and personal defamation involving staff families. Supporting evidence cited includes CCTV footage, videos recorded by staff and guests, and witness testimonies. While the management initially delayed complaining to avoid escalation, the persistent nature of the alleged online provocations prompted legal action. The matter was entered into the General Diary on 6 June, and a request was made before the Honourable Court for permission to register a case formally. Upon receiving approval, a case was registered on 10 June 2025, under sections 324(4), 352, and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The investigation has been assigned to WSI Akshitha, under the supervision of Inspector Anil Kumar, Gachibowli Police Station.
