Sreerama Chandra Says Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone Were ‘Hot Couple' In YJHD
Last Updated: Sreerama Chandra, who gave Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani fans the timeless song Subhanallah, recently recalled his thoughts during Subhanallah's recording days. Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone 's starrer Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani remains a fan favourite to date. More than a decade since the release of the romantic comedy, audiences still love the epic love story, heartwarming portrayal of friendship and meaningful life lessons shown in the film. But what resonates deeply with fans are the soulful and foot-tapping soundtracks like Subhanallah, Kabira, Ilahi, Balam Pichkari and Dilliwali Girlfriend. Having said that, singer Sreerama Chandra, who gave YJHD fans the timeless song Subhanallah, recently recalled his thoughts during the song's recording days. He sat for a chat with an entertainment media portal and candidly shared that he wasn't sure whether it would make it to Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani's final cut. In an interview with Zoom, the singer and Indian Idol winner said, 'Back then, Arijit Singh was working with Pritam Dada. He was the one who played the song for me and recorded my voice. A couple of days later, Dada asked me to redub since the lyrics had changed. Dada was there. I wasn't sure whether the song would make it to the film. Two to three months later, the first song, Balam Pichkari's promo, was released. I had recorded the song, but Vishal Dadlani's version made it to the final cut." Elaborating further, Sreerama stated, 'I wasn't confident about Subhanallah's fate. It was the least and last promoted song. Sabhi gaane itne superhit the. After a few years, the song started getting popular. While all other songs were enjoyed back then, Subhanallah found its audience now." 'But I'm proud of Subhanallah and am happy to see the response it has been getting now. A singer desires such feedback from the audience," he added, expressing his happiness for the overwhelming response. During the same chat, he explained why the makers promoted other songs over Subhanallah. Sreeram said, 'Back then, dance numbers were popular. Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone were the hot couple, and songs like 'Dilliwali Girlfriend' were commercial. Subhanallah was a melody of young love. I believe melodies have a better shelf life than dance numbers." Coming to Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, the film released on May 31, 2013. The romantic drama, directed by Ayan Mukerji, also starred Kalki Koechlin and Aditya Roy Kapur in lead roles. Sreerama Chandra's musical journey began in 2006 after renowned music director Mickey J Meyer gave him the opportunity to sing for the movie Notebook. However, his win in Indian Idol season 5 in 2010 proved to be a turning point in his career, paving the way for his appearances in several Telugu and Bollywood films. A year after winning the trophy of Indian Idol, he made his Bollywood debut in 2011 with the movie Mere Brother Ki Dulhan. Sreerama has continued to captivate audiences with his melodious voice over the years, contributing to chartbusters from films like Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, 1920: London, All Is Well, Sanam Teri Kasam, Race 3, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, Raees, Khiladi 786, and, most recently, Chandu Champion. ‘Ranbir Kapoor will always be special to me': Deepika Padukone's honest throwback moment
Who doesn't remember the sizzling romance between Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor ? Once considered Bollywood's most beloved couple, they captured the hearts of fans across the country. Their love story wasn't just tabloid fodder—it felt real, intense, and destined for forever. But fate had other plans. While the two eventually found lasting love elsewhere—Deepika with Ranveer Singh and Ranbir with Alia Bhatt—and both are now proud parents of baby girls, their past relationship still holds a special place in Bollywood's collective memory. A Walk Down Memory Lane Deepika and Ranbir's love story began in 2008 on the sets of Bachna Ae Haseeno . Both were fresh faces in the industry: Deepika had made a dream debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Om Shanti Om (2007), while Ranbir had stepped into the limelight with Saawariya (2007). Their romance blossomed quickly and publicly—they walked red carpets hand in hand, gave joint interviews, and made appearances at every major Bollywood event. It was a young, vibrant love that fans couldn't get enough of. But in 2009, just a year after going public, their relationship came to an end. The breakup made headlines, and Deepika later hinted that infidelity on Ranbir's part had contributed to their split. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với mức chênh lệch giá thấp nhất IC Markets Đăng ký Undo Despite the emotional upheaval, both stars handled the aftermath with maturity. From Heartbreak to Harmony What stood out was not the breakup, but how gracefully they moved on—not just personally, but professionally. They went on to star together in two iconic films: Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013) and Tamasha (2015). Their electric on-screen chemistry remained untouched, and fans couldn't help but root for them all over again—this time, even if only in fiction. In a 2011 interview with Rediff , Deepika shared her thoughts on their evolved relationship: 'We are in a very friendly and comfortable space. He will always be special to me, not just because of what we shared, but because of who he is as a person.' An Enduring Connection Looking back, the Deepika-Ranbir chapter is one of Bollywood's most cherished throwback tales—a romance that didn't last forever but one that still shines bright in the memories of fans. It's a testament to how love, even when it fades, can transform into mutual respect and lasting friendship. Their story reminds us that not every relationship needs a perfect ending to be meaningful—sometimes, the moments we share are enough.

Jacky Bhagnani and Rakul Preet Singh on growing their own food: 'We grow many herbs, leafy greens and...'
Bhagnani added, 'Chemicals in food can cause multiple health problems and it is advisable to avoid them as much as possible.' read more As we celebrated World Environment Day, Jacky Bhagnani and Rakul Preet Singh opened up about growing their own food when the actor-turned-producer revealed, 'Well, both Rakul and I are deeply interested in health, wellness and clean eating. At some point, we wanted to explore growing our own food. Sometime back, I researched and found that the fertilisers used to get maximum yield in agriculture contain high levels of chemicals.' Bhagnani added, 'Chemicals in food can cause multiple health problems and it is advisable to avoid them as much as possible. Since we firmly believe that we are what we eat, we decided to set up a kitchen garden and grow vegetables on our terrace.' STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD On gardening Gardening is like therapy. There's something very calming about watching something grow — it grounds you. In an industry where your mind is always racing and you're juggling a hundred things, even ten minutes spent watering plants or checking on new sprouts gives you perspective. It also boosts creativity — nature has its own way of inspiring ideas. When asked about his favourite vegetables that he grows, the producer said, 'We grow many herbs, leafy greens, root vegetables and fruits. In the initial stage, it was very exciting to grow brinjal as 'baingan ka bharta' is a family favourite. We also love growing our own mint, coriander, peppers, capsicum, bitter gourd, tomatoes, cucumber, lady's fingers and pumpkin.' When asked if Bollywood characters were plants, Jackky said, 'That's a fun one! I think I'd be like Kabir from 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' — adventurous, always growing, a little unpredictable but rooted deep when it matters. Or maybe 'Bhuvan' from Lagaan — patient, hopeful, and someone who believes that with hard work and a little faith, the clouds can part.'
