State govt to revive six more small rivers in Prayagraj dist
1 2 Prayagraj: The state govt has taken an initiative to identify the small rivers that are on the verge of extinction in the Prayagraj district and revive them. After reviving three small rivers, including Lapri, Karnavati and Loni, district authorities have identified six small rivers, including Belan, Thotha, Bakrahi, Sevarahi, Ghaghar and Varuna. Officials claimed that the revival of these small rivers will not only help to maintain ecology but also create more opportunities for agriculture, groundwater, and rural life. The Yogi-led state govt is making herculean efforts to revive extinct small rivers across the state with the objective of improving the ecosystem as well as the groundwater level. Apart from the three major rivers of Ganga, Yamuna, and Tons, there are more than a dozen small rivers in Prayagraj that are currently struggling for their survival. Once these small rivers are rejuvenated, there will be an abundance of water and other resources to be found in all 23 blocks of the district. Chief development officer (Prayagraj), Harshika Singh says, "On the instructions of the govt, the identification of small rivers on the verge of extinction is being carried out across the district. The list of identified rivers includes Loni, Lapri, Karnavati, Belan, Thotha, Bakrahi, Sevarhi, Ghaghar, and Varuna." by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giá vàng đang tăng mạnh trong năm 2025 — Các nhà giao dịch thông minh đã tham gia IC Markets Tìm hiểu thêm Undo The administration has been successful in reviving the Lapri and Karnavati rivers with a budget of 102.44 lakhs, while the exercise of rejuvenating the Loni river is underway with a budget of Rs 1.50 crores. An inclusive action plan is also being prepared for the remaining rivers. Officials claimed that reviving these small rivers is possible only through a long process and every individual's participation. For this, the govt is connecting gram panchayats, schools, and voluntary organisations with the river conservation campaign to ensure rural participation. By creating river friends in every village, a permanent monitoring system is being developed. Encroachment is being removed on the river banks, and floodplains are being freed. There are plans to revive traditional water sources, which include activating old wells, stepwells and ponds related to the river, as water storage. Experts said, "To revive the vanishing small rivers, the first requirement is to maintain the availability of water reaching the rivers throughout the year. This will be possible only when the condition of the groundwater level in that area remains better so that the pressure of irrigation does not fall much on these small rivers." The state govt has also prepared a backup plan for the rejuvenation of small rivers. Deputy Commissioner (MNREGA) Gulab Chandra said that a total of 583 Amrit Sarovars have been constructed in the district so far at a cost of Rs 28.92 crores to store around 13 lakh cubic rainwater. Apart from this, 106 Amrit Sarovars are under construction in the district in the current financial year. Similarly, the target of digging 50 ponds has been set in the Prayagraj district this year, which is three times more than last year.

Biz class felt most insecureduring SP govt, says Khanna
Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh finance minister Suresh Khanna launched a sharp attack on Akhilesh Yadav , calling the SP chief's allegations that business class was facing "socio-economic emergency" as baseless and asserted that the business community was most insecure under the Samajwadi Party govt. MLAs Neeraj Bora and Rajeshwar Singh supported Khanna's remarks and added that the Yogi govt had ended the era of "recovery brothers". "Yogi-led double engine govt has made UP mafia-free and business-friendly. The very business community Akhilesh Yadav speaks of today felt most threatened and insecure during the SP govt (2012-2017). Extortion, hooliganism, and commission-taking were central to the functioning of the SP govt, which operated on a model of "one district, one recovery brother" to fill party's coffers through trader exploitation," Khanna said. Khanna said that under the current double engine govt, the business community was actively contributing to the state's development by benefiting from transparent policies. He added that the double engine govt had effectively imposed an "emergency" on those who indulged in extortion and hooliganism during SP govt. "No new tax has been imposed in Uttar Pradesh in the last eight years. Diesel-petrol rates are the lowest in the country, and the state is moving towards prosperity by becoming a revenue surplus state," he said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo MLA Neeraj Bora criticised Akhilesh for aligning with those who once imposed the Emergency, adding that in today's mafia-free UP, extortion was no longer possible. MLA Rajeshwar Singh said under the SP govt, UP saw over 25,000 murders and 76,500 crimes daily, forcing traders to flee amid rampant extortion and fear. "Zero-tolerance policy against crime led to action against over 70,000 criminals," he said.

UP govt acquires 600 acres in Gorakhpur for new industrial township
While Gida has acquired 600 acres for the township in the 17 villages, the acquisition process is ongoing to increase the land inventory Virendra Singh Rawat Lucknow The Uttar Pradesh (UP) government has acquired 600 acres in Gorakhpur, the political stronghold of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, to attract investment and accelerate industrial growth in the state's eastern region (Purvanchal). The site has been slated for the development of a modern industrial township under the Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority. The proposed 'Dhuriyapar Industrial Township' or 'Greater Gida' aims to increase investments in Eastern UP, which lags Western UP. Gida Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Anuj Malik said the master plan for the township has been approved, and the land allotment process —spanning two industrial sectors — will begin soon. While Gida has acquired 600 acres for the township in the 17 villages, the acquisition process is ongoing to increase the land inventory. Leading companies, including the Adani group, are interested in setting up their units in the Greater Gida enclave. According to officials, the Adani group was considering setting up a cement factory under the ACC brand. Shree Cement and Keyaan Distillery have also sought parcels for their greenfield projects in the township. The Yogi-led government was also planning to establish an electronic manufacturing cluster within the township, officials added. Once completed, the Dhuriyapar Industrial Township would become one of the largest industrial land banks in Purvanchal. The recently inaugurated 91 km Gorakhpur Link Expressway will also boost the prospects of the upcoming industrial hub. At the UP Global Investors Summit (GIS) in February 2023, the state had secured fresh investment proposals worth ~40 trillion. The state now plans to host the GIS 2.0 in the current financial year. Major private investor, SLMG Beverages, a Coca-Cola bottling partner, was planning a phased investment of ~8,000 crore to expand its supply network, the company's deputy CEO Rahul Kumar said. SLMG holds nearly 50 per cent of the beverage market share in UP, and operates 7 bottling plants across eastern and western regions. The growing network of expressways, airports, proposed logistics and export hubs has contributed to a marked improvement in the 'ease of doing business' perception, thus translating into growing private investment. Besides manufacturing, the Yogi government is also promoting the services sectors, viz. tourism and information technology (IT) sectors, for boosting socioeconomic development and creating jobs.
