The women's rugby world cup trophy will be displayed in York again tomorrow (Image: Alice Kavanagh) A TROPHY celebrating the best in international sport has been displayed in York city centre today (June 1). The Women's Rugby World Cup 2025 trophy has been exhibited on Parliament Street today as part of a nationwide three-week tour, giving rugby fans the chance to look at the trophy up close ahead of the summer's tournament. Advertisement A specially branded Land Rover Defender has been branded to show off the trophy with a pink carpet leading up to the back for those who want to take a closer look. RECOMMENDED READING: Georgie Heath, a member of the team exhibiting the trophy, shared that the reception that they'd had so far had been positive. She said: 'We're showing the whole community what's amazing about women's rugby and that they can go to some the games this summer. 'We've had such a great reception – quite a lot of people already have tickets to see some of the matches. We've had lots of kids, dogs, and it's so nice just seeing how excited everyone is for it to come to York this summer.' Advertisement Residents can see the trophy again between 10am and 3pm tomorrow (June 2) before it is transported to York Rugby Club where it will be available, from 6pm, for local sports teams and organisations to see. After this, it will move to its final stop on its nationwide tour in Sunderland. Councillor Pete Kilbane, executive member for economy and culture, said: "We're thrilled to be hosting several exciting games as part of the Women's Rugby World Cup later this summer. "Supporting this leg of the Trophy Tour is a great way to continue our amazing year of sport." York Community Stadium will host six matches of the Women's Rugby World Cup during August and September, including USA vs Australia, South Africa vs Italy, and New Zealand vs Spain. The newly-revealed Women's Rugby World Cup trophy will be available to view in York this Sunday (June 1) and coming Monday (June 2) as part of a special 'Trophy Tour.' A specially-branded Land Rover Defender will transport the trophy into the city for public viewing over the two days, when it will be displayed in Parliament Square. On the evening of the Monday, the trophy will be transported to York Rugby Club, where it will be available, from 6pm, for local sports teams and organisations to see. Councillor Pete Kilbane, executive member for economy and culture, said: "We're thrilled to be hosting several exciting games as part of the Women's Rugby World Cup later this summer.
