I saw singer Diana Ross perform live in Glasgow's Hydro

Music icon. Legendary artist. Superstar. All terms we throw around too easily. But there is one woman who is all of those things and more - and it's Diana Ross. Looking stunning in a ball gown, the Detroit-born star kicked off her Hydro show on Wednesday night with the Nile Rodgers-produced smash I'm Coming Out - and what a way to arrive on stage. (Image: Image of Diana Ross) The magic of Motown was then brought to Glasgow as Ms Ross gave the city the best of The Supremes. Baby Love, You Can't Hurry Love, Come See About Me, and Stop! In The Name of Love exploded out of that Motown vault and sounded magical thanks to the live orchestra on stage. Ensuring she sounded on top form alongside the big band, the 81-year-old admitted: 'I've been struggling every night with this in-ear things.' But the audience certainly didn't notice as they heaped admiration on the singer who sounded incredible. And after a quick wardrobe change - c'mon, it's expected, it's Diana Ross - the star showcased a new look for the 1979 disco hit The Boss and Endless Love, a duet she released with Lionel Ritchie. It's special watching an artist of this calibre perform. Motown was a moment in music history. It was a one off and has never been replicated in the same way. And alongside Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Ms Ross was part of that sound. Seeing her bring that iconic movement alive again was just special. (Image: Image of Diana Ross) A duet with her daughter Rhonda then surprised the audience as the pair performed Count On Me together, which was also written by her eldest child. A third costume change paved the way for Theme from Mahogany (Do You Know Where You're Going To?) and Ain't No Mountain High Enough. The singer then paid tribute to the Royal Scottish National Orchestra saying: 'I want to thank this wonderful, magnificent orchestra.' She added, 'I am so happy to be here with you. I love it when the house lights are up so I can see your faces.' The Gloria Gaynor hit I Will Survive rounded off the evening with a masterclass in musicianship as each backing singer and musician showcased their talent. Showing vulnerability, the star signed off, while signing autographs from the stage, 'I just want to tell you how much I love you. I love doing what I'm doing. 'Being 81, being with you is good for me mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually.'

Kanye West debuts Bully album featuring son Saint amid social media controversy

Kanye West has released his latest album, Bully, alongside multiple versions of a film directed and edited by Hype Williams. The album's debut came amid a series of controversial posts on X (formerly Twitter), where West also previewed different iterations of the film. West initially shared a link to the film soundtracked by Bully, stating that the album was 'not finished and half the vocals AI,' but he wanted to test what listeners enjoyed. Hours later, he posted three different cuts of the film: a 'screening version,' a 'post Hype version,' and a 'post post Hype version.' The 30-minute film stars West's son, Saint, in a wrestling ring, fending off opponents with a mallet—an apparent nod to the album's themes of power and conflict. The wrestlers featured include YOH, Toru Yano, Tiger Mask, and El Desperado from New Japan Pro-Wrestling. Musically, the album incorporates rich soul samples, such as Cortex's Huit Octobre 1971 and The Supremes' You Can't Hurry Love. During a recent interview with Justin Laboy, West shared that Bully was inspired by his son Saint, whom he jokingly called a 'bully' after Saint admitted to kicking another child because he was 'weak.' West also mentioned that he originally planned to release the album on June 15, his daughter North's birthday. West first announced Bully in September 2024 during a performance at Wuyuan River Stadium in Haikou, China, where he premiered the song Beauty and the Beast. That track appears on the test version of the album, which he released amid a series of inflammatory tweets targeting Jay-Z, Beyoncé, and their children. His unconventional release strategy aligns with his recent criticisms of digital streaming platforms. He stated that he may abandon DSPs entirely, claiming, 'Streams are fake, and the French and Jewish record labels treat artists like prostitutes.' He also teased future projects, asking fans whether they would prefer Vultures 3 or Donda 3 to follow next. West's recent online activity has sparked backlash, particularly after he attempted to sell t-shirts featuring a swastika. It remains unclear whether Bully will receive a traditional release, but for now, fans can access it through West's X account.
