Lokesh urges TDP leaders to appreciate efforts of cadre

Vijayawada: Minister for Education and IT and TDP national general secretary Nara Lokesh, while cementing his ties with members at the grassroots level, on Sunday called upon party workers to diligently promote the 'Suparipalana - Tholi Adugu' (The First Step in Good Governance) campaign door-to-door for a month, ensuring its success. He made these remarks during a TDP meeting held at the party's national office here, which focused on the campaign marking a year of the NDA government's rule. While taking the campaign to every household, members should explain the coalition government's developmental and welfare initiatives of the past year and record public feedback via an app, Lokesh explained. He also instructed members to report their work through the 'My TDP' app, ensuring strict adherence to the door-to-door campaign for its success. While seeking to galvanise the party at all levels, Lokesh recounted the overwhelming public mandate given to the party in the 2024 elections. 'The primary reason for this victory was the arrogance and work ethic of the previous rulers,' he stated. He particularly emphasized the immense hard work of the party cadre behind this success. Lokesh recalled that during his Yuva Galam padayatra, party leader Chandrababu Naidu had introduced the CUB (Cluster, Unit, Booth) system. Despite initial skepticism, this system had significantly strengthened the party's booths and enabled numerous activities, he pointed out. Lokesh asserted that the previous ruling party's arrogance was the sole reason for their decline from 151 seats to just 11. He urged all party members to remember this lesson. He advised party members to operate 'as if we are in Opposition, even while in power.' This approach, he explained, involved actively addressing public issues. The TDP national general secretary appealed to everyone not to forget the hardworking cadre who had faced harassment, false cases, and even imprisonment during the previous regime. He mentioned the appointment of observers to ensure the party cadre are not overlooked, while being fully utilised. Describing the party office as a 'sacred temple,' Lokesh stressed the need to build party offices in every district and constituency. He announced efforts to significantly involve women in the party structure by introducing co-convener positions in CUBs. Lokesh underlined the necessity of combining the experience of senior leaders with the energy of the youth. He called for fostering a spirit of competition among party members, noting that Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu had topped the list for organisational building in his constituency, while Mangalagiri stood fifth. Lokesh concluded by observing 'party is supreme' and that continuous victory, as seen in Kuppam due to robust organisational structure, was achievable with focused efforts on party organisation. He mentioned that 90 per cent of KSS (Karyakartha Sadhikaratha Sarathi) registrations, along with 82 per cent of booths, 80 per cent of units, and 80 per cent of clusters, had been completed. He called for strengthening of allied wings and prioritizing those who worked in various committees by July 5th.

Later, the Minister met Union Minister of Food Processing Chirag Paswan and sought cooperation to develop Rayalaseema region as a horticulture hub. He said that horticulture farmers of the Rayalaseema region were suffering losses due to lack of minimum support price (MSP) for the produce. Subsequently, Minister Lokesh met Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghawal seeking cooperation for the establishment of a bench of the AP High Court at Kurnool. Lokesh also met Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and briefed him on the reforms being undertaken by the new coalition government to enhance educational standards in the state. He said that, as part of this initiative, the government was introducing the Learning Excellence in Andhra Pradesh (LEAP) programme to transform the education ecosystem. A total of 9,600 model primary schools were being established across the state, following a 'One Class – One Teacher' policy. Additionally, 175 LEAP schools - one in each Assembly constituency - were being developed with world-class infrastructure. Around 700 upper primary schools had been upgraded to high schools. Schools were now being awarded ratings based on academic and infrastructural standards, he said. Lokesh invited Pradhan to attend the mega parent-teacher event on July 5. Will Nara Lokesh be crowned TDP's king-in-waiting at Mahanadu?

As the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) kicked off its three-day annual conclave, Mahanadu, on Tuesday, the spotlight turned towards Nara Lokesh, the son of party president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. Reports suggest that in the 2025 Mahanadu, the first since the TDP's resounding victory in the 2024 Andhra Pradesh Assembly and Lok Sabha elections, Nara Lokesh might officially be declared the party's number two. Lokesh played a key role in the TDP's electoral success by taking the party's message to the three-day TDP Mahanadu in Rayalaseema's region's (southwestern Andhra Pradesh) Kadapa carries added significance, as the region has long been a YSRCP stronghold. Nara Lokesh's potential elevation to the party's number two spot holds weight here, given his role in helping the NDA and the TDP make crucial inroads in Rayalaseema during the 2024 dual general secretary Nara Lokesh, who is also a minister in Naidu's Cabinet, may be elevated to the post of the party's working president during the Mahanadu in Kadapa, reported The Indian Express. "Chandrababu Naidu will continue to be the national president of the party. Palla Srinivasa Rao will remain the party's state unit chief. A new role, the party working president, is being created for Nara Lokesh now," a TDP source told the NARA LOKESH HELPED IN TDP'S RESSURGENCE IN 2024advertisementAn MBA from Stanford University, the tech-savy Nara Lokesh has been hailed as the architect of TDP's comeback in 2024, having successfully marketed the party's vision to the youth through his 4,000-kilometre state-wide padyatra "Yuva Galam".Seen as the force behind the TDP's resurgence, Lokesh was credited for the TDP-JSP-BJP combine's sweeping 2024 polls after five years out of power. In the 2019 polls, the TDP was decimated by the Jagan Mohan Reddy-led 2024 elections saw the TDP, in alliance with the BJP and JSP, clinch 135 of 175 Assembly seats and 16 of 25 Lok Sabha seats, making it the second-largest NDA constituent next to the BJP. The YSRCP could manage just 11 of 175 Assembly seats and 4 of 25 Lok Sabha seats in Andhra Pradesh, marking a dramatic fall from its 2019 Lokesh, who was a key strategist for the TDP, was in fact a strong advocate for the BJP-TDP alliance, confidently predicting their joint return to power in Andhra Pradesh – a prediction that came true in buzz around Lokesh's likely elevation as TDP's working president follows a May 16 report that said Chandrababu Naidu was planning major organisational changes within the party. Among the major changes, a change in position for Nara Lokesh was being considered, sources told India came after a May 15 report in the Hindustan Times, which quoted a senior TDP leader, speaking on condition of anonymity, saying that Nara Lokesh's appointment as the party's working president was under serious LOKESH AND HIS SUPER-SIX SCHEMESForty-two-year-old Lokesh, who oversees the portfolios of Human Resource Development, Information Technology, Electronics, and Communication, played a crucial role in shaping the TDP's strategy and policies ahead of the 2024 dual elections. His initiatives, including a tech-driven membership drive that added five million members and the 400-day padyatra, cemented his position as a central figure in the party's campaign and its eventual role in crafting the "Super Six" welfare schemes also earned him labelled "unprepared and raw" even by TDP leaders, Lokesh's defining moment came in September 2023 when former CM Chandrababu Naidu was arrested by the YSRCP government of former CM Jagan Mohan Reddy. Lokesh paused his padayatra, took charge of the party, and rallied support across Andhra Pradesh and New Delhi to secure his father's release, a crisis that marked his emergence as the TDP's de facto No. 2, a role he is now expected to formalise at Watch

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu vows to punish killers of TDP leader Veeraiah Chowdary

Putting aside all his programmes, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu visited Ammanabrolu village of Naguluppalapadu mandal in Prakasam district on Wednesday evening to pay homage to TDP leader and former MPP Muppavarapu Veeraiah Chowdary (45), who was murdered in Ongole on Tuesday night, and participated in his final rites. Mr. Naidu met Veeraiah's family members and promised them all support from the party and the government. He vowed to punish the killers, who had stabbed the TDP leader 53 times with knives. 'Already, 12 teams have been deployed to trace the accused, and, if needed, more will be constituted,' Mr. Naidu said. 'The police officers are investigating the case in all angles, including political and business. We will not leave those who committed the crime, whether they are criminals, or political leaders, or hired goondas. They will be punished as per the law,' Mr. Naidu said. 'Share information' Sharing a phone number, 9121104784, the Chief Minister urged the public and the media to share any clue about the murderers, and assured to keep their identity confidential. He appealed to the people not to be afraid of criminals and encourage crime. Mr. Naidu said, 'Veeraiah was an able leader. He had actively participated in Nara Lokesh's Yuva Galam. His role was appreciated during the 2024 general elections in Chirala and Ongole. I am unable to digest that such heinous crime happened during our government's term.' 'Veeraiah's wife dosen't know anything in politics. His son is studying in Intermediate. I enquired with his driver and others in his office. They couldn't reveal anything as the assailants entered wearing a veil on their faces. I request all his well-wishers to share any clue. This is the only way to give peace to the departed soul,' Mr. Naidu said. 'Four unidentified armed men attacked Veeraiah Chowdary with knives at his office at around 7.30-7.35 p.m., and escaped from the spot. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but the doctors declared him as brought dead,' Prakasam district Superintendent of Police A.R. Damodar told The Hindu. Cases had been registered under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act, and investigation was on, he said. Meanwhile, Home Minister V. Anitha said, 'The killing of Veeraiah is unfortunate. About 12 special teams have been formed, and a DSP-level officer has been appointed for each team.' The accused would be caught and punished as per the law, she said, and expressed her deepest condolences to the family members of Veeraiah. 'The murder of Veeraiah in his office is shocking. We have directed the police to take strict action against the assailants. The TDP will extend all support to his family,' HRD Minister Nara Lokesh said on X.
