Samsung Galaxy Fold 7 and Flip 7 leak before Unpacked — and they're super slim
We expect Samsung to debut the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 in just a few weeks at its Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event on July 9. But in the meantime, some new leaked renderings have confirmed how stunningly slim Samsung's upcoming flagship foldables will be. They're the latest from noted tipster Evan Blass, who also leaked several Fold 7 and Flip 7 renders last week. Previous reports suggest the Fold 7's design will see the biggest generational leap between the two, measuring just 4.5mm thick when unfolded, compared to the Galaxy Fold 6's 5.6mm. When folded, Samsung has reportedly shaved down the Fold 7's width to just under 9mm. In a recent hands-on video with a Galaxy Z Fold 7 dummy unit, the Galaxy Z Fold 6, at 12.1mm thick when folded, looked like a brick by comparison. Blass's latest renders provide an even clearer picture of the Fold 7's slimmer side profile. It's also tipped to get a larger 8.2-inch foldable display, up from the Z Fold 6's 7.6-inch panel, that makes the Z Fold 7 look closer to something like the premium Galaxy S25 Ultra than its predecessor. Samsung's not sacrificing performance with that slimmer profile, though. Rumor has it that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will upgrade to a 200MP main camera and Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. Samsung's also teased that the Z Fold 7 will boast "cutting-edge performance and seamless AI integration optimized for the foldable format." As for the Galaxy Z Flip 7, Samsung's tipped to keep the same dimensions as its predecessor. Though we can't see it in these renders, the Flip 7 is thought to be getting larger displays inside and out. Under the hood, it's said to pack a larger battery as well as either an Exynos 2500 chip or a Snapdragon 8 Elite, depending on which market you buy it in. We've also heard that Samsung will announce its long-rumored, entry-level foldable, the Galaxy Z Flip FE, alongside its flagship phones at next month's event. This model will supposedly sport an older design and scaled-back specs compared to the Galaxy Z Flip 7, but for a sub-$1,000 price tag. Though this all remains the subject of rumors for now, we don't have long to wait to learn more. Samsung announced a Galaxy Unpacked event for July 9, and if history serves, we should see the new Galaxy foldables launch alongside other products like the Galaxy Watch 8, Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, and revamped Galaxy Buds. I was worried about the rumored prices for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 — but this new pricing leak makes a lot more sense
We're not expecting the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 to be particularly cheap. But these two phones could cost less than expected going by the latest pricing rumor. We've seen reporting of rumored higher prices for Samsung's new foldables. But the reliable WinFuture and Roland Quandt have made their own claims about the cost of the Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, and fortunately these are less alarming. The site doesn't mention the Z Fold 7 or Z Flip 7 by name, but all signs point to this being what gets announced on July 9. It says that these smartwatches will be €40-50 more expensive than the Galaxy Watch 7 models they will replace. WinFuture suggests this is because of Samsung doubling the default internal storage to 64GB. Fortunately, the new Galaxy Watch Ultra model will apparently stay at the same price as the original — €699. I wasn't sure how different the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 would really be — but then I saw these leaked renders
We're hoping to see the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 launch in just a couple of weeks. But while we wait, we can see the design in clear detail thanks to renders published by Evan "Evleaks" Blass. Enough detail to help me finally understand how big a difference this generational leap will be. The renders come in three colors — silver, blue and black, and show the alleged Z Fold 7 from a variety of angles. While the new phone naturally has a similar design to the Galaxy Z Fold 6, we can still see a few differences. For one, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 appears to be quite a bit thinner, as rumored. We can also see the internal screen has a camera punch-hole rather than a concealed under-display camera like previous models. There appears to be slightly different texture to the rear cameras' surrounds too, to help differentiate the new Z Fold further from the older models. If you need further proof of the Galaxy Z Fold 7's colors, a leak via Samsung's local Irish website (via Android Authority) has seemingly accidentally revealed the names of the hues we see above. The screenshot from this page claims the official names for the colors are Jet Black, Blue Shadow, and Silver Shadow. Interestingly, it also reveals a previously unknown Green Mint color exclusive to Samsung's online store. This leak also tells us the colors for the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will be Coral Red, Jet Black and Blue Shadow, again with Green Mint as a Samsung exclusive. Fitting with last year's model, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 should come with either 256GB, 512GB or 1TB of storage, with a pre-order bonus of doubling a buyer's storage for free. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 meanwhile is offered with 256GB or 512GB, ditching the previous standard storage of 128GB apparently without increasing the basic price. Samsung announced a Galaxy Unpacked event for July 9, and precedent suggests this will be the time and place we see the new Galaxy foldables launch.
