On Friday night, the Alabama Crimson Tide landed a commitment from a local product, as in-state standout Zay Hall announced that he had committed to the program. Hall is the sixth different player to commit to Alabama so far this week, as well as the third within the past two days alongside the four-star duo of Ezavier Crowell and Mack Sutter. Advertisement At the moment, Hall is currently considered as the nation's No. 1,148 overall prospect in the 2026 recruiting class, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. A three-star prospect, Hall is also ranked as the nation's No. 127 overall linebacker, as well as the No. 55 player in the state of Alabama where he attends Hillcrest High School in Tuscaloosa. The three-star prospect is the first linebacker commit in Alabama's class, as well as the fourth from in-state where he is joined by the aforementioned Crowell (Jackson), Zyan Gibson (Gadsden City), and Kamhariyan Johnson (Muscle Shoals). Alabama's class has now cracked the Top 10 of the 247Sports Team Rankings as well, sitting at No. 10 with a total of 13 commitments. SEC Powerhouse Lands 6th Commitment of the Week

SEC Powerhouse Lands 6th Commitment of the Week originally appeared on Athlon Sports. If it wasn't official, it is now: the Alabama Crimson Tide are red hot on the recruiting trail. On Thursday, Alabama landed hard commitments from two elite prospects, four-star running back Ezavier Crowell and elite athlete Mack Sutter. Advertisement On Friday, Alabama secured another pledge from a superstar recruit. According to Hayes Fawcett of On3, the Tide have landed a verbal commitment from linebacker Zay Hall. A four-star recruit, according to 247Sports, Hall did not take an official visit to Tuscaloosa, with his lone trip occurring to Virginia Tech in early June. Alongside Alabama and VT, he holds offers from the Arkansas State Red Wolves, Austin Peay Governors, Jacksonville State Gamecocks, James Madison Dukes, Memphis Tigers, Arkansas Razorbacks, Maryland Terrapins, and the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Kalen DeBoer© Matt Pendleton-Imagn Images Hall is a Tuscaloosa native, playing at Hill Crest High School. The Patriots posted a 6-4 record last season, with Hall leading the team with 39 total tackles. He also added a pair of tackles for loss per his MaxPreps page. The 2026 group sits at ten commits, with superstar cornerback Jorden Edmonds headlining the pack of high schoolers. Next season, Alabama will try to build on its 9-4 season, its first under DeBoer. The Tide failed to win double-digit games for just the first time since 2007, while missing the College Football Playoff for consecutive times for the first time in program history. Alabama football beats out Virginia Tech, Memphis for 2026 linebacker

The post Alabama football beats out Virginia Tech, Memphis for 2026 linebacker appeared first on ClutchPoints. Alabama football made a big splash earlier in the week, securing commitments from five-star running back Ezavier 'EJ' Crowell and four-star tight end Mack Sutter to bolster their 2026 recruiting class. Crimson Tide head coach Kalen DeBoer is lauded for his offensive ingenuity, so it is no surprise he wanted to focus on that side of the ball during this pivotal time on the calendar. But the 2023 AP Coach of the Year is shifting his focus back to the defense. Advertisement Three-star linebacker Zay Hall is committing to Alabama, according to On3's Hayes Fawcett. The Tuscaloosa native considered Virginia Tech, Memphis and James Madison, but he is staying home. Despite the pressure facing DeBoer, and questions surrounding the program's prestige, the Crimson Tide have enjoyed an active recruiting period this year. They rank inside the top-10 in On3's rankings and could be poised to jump up a couple spots if they stay aggressive this summer. Although Bama is expected to compete for all the blue-chip prospects in their area, it must also shrewdly fill out its roster by snagging a three-star and potential hidden gem like Hall. Time will tell how the Hillcrest High School standout fares at the next level, but it would have been brutal for the Tide to let a player who lives right in their backyard slip through and land on another squad. Kalen DeBoer and his defensive coaching staff will now get to see what the 6-foot-3, 215-pound LB is truly capable of accomplishing on the gridiron. Alabama football has long been defined by national championships, conference titles and Playoff appearances, but in order for the current regime to have a realistic chance at attaining such a sky-high standard, it must first stockpile talent. Zay Hall will prepare for his senior season before driving about 20 minutes to his new home.
