Police lock down Sunshine Coast street after man's fatal stabbing in Warana
Police have closed the Sunshine Coast street where 57-year-old Zdravko Bilic was found dead for more than 24 hours as they scour the area for evidence. Mr Bilic, better known to friends as "Zed", was found dead in his front yard in Warana by a friend at 7:35pm on Monday. He had been stabbed twice in the stomach. Sunshine Coast Detective Inspector Chris Toohey said Mr Bilic's wife, Gry Tomte, was not home at the time of the attack. She has now returned to the beachside suburb. Police believe there is a 20-hour window in which the attack could have occurred, from 11pm on Sunday to when he was found. Investigators also suspect Mr Bilic may have disturbed someone trying to break into the home. "One of the lines of inquiry is that he has disturbed a break-and-enter, and we will continue follow that," Inspector Toohey said. Police taped off a portion of the street and barred traffic on Tuesday morning as forensic teams began combing the area for evidence and detectives interviewed neighbours. Inspector Toohey said Mr Bilic's death had shaken the usually relaxed neighbourhood. "He is a community-minded person that is well-loved in the area," he said. Police asked anyone with information to come forward.

Wild theory after Zdravko Bilic, 57, found stabbed to death at Sunshine Coast home
The body of a man who was found stabbed to death in front of his Sunshine Coast home may have been lying there for several hours before it was discovered. Zdravko Bilic, 57, was found unresponsive by a neighbour in the front yard of a home in Napalle St in Warana about 7.35pm on Monday. Police said he sustained two stab wounds to his abdomen. Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Detective Inspector Chris Toohey said it was possible Mr Bilic's body was lying there for several hours before he was found by a neighbour. 'At this stage, we're looking at between 11pm on the Sunday night the 13th and the 7pm to 7.30pm was when he was located,' he said. Inspector Toohey said police were investigating several lines of inquiry, including the possibility Mr Bilic 'disturbed' an attempted break and enter. Police understand Mr Bilic was alone at the time of the incident. He said Mr Bilic's wife, Gry Susann Tomte, who was not at home at the time, was concerned she hadn't heard from him and 'inquired with the neighbour who discovered (the body)'. '(Ms Tomte) was concerned because she hadn't heard from him and as a result spoke to the neighbour who made the emergency call,' he said. Inspector Toohey described Mr Bilic as a 'valued member of the community' and his death as 'terrible' that 'shocked the neighbours'. 'He is a community-minded person that was well loved in the area,' Inspector Toohey said. Mr Bilic and Ms Tomte purchased the Sunshine Coast mansion for $2.5m in December 2021 before settling into the home in March the following year. Warana is considered one of the safest areas of the Sunshine Coast, known for its up-market homes and stretches of beaches. 'Sunshine Coast has got a very safe community,' Inspector Toohey said. 'We pride ourselves on having, trying to maintain a safer environment for all our residents and of course being a tourist destination, we also like for people coming to visit to feel safe. 'So it is a shock. It makes us more vigilant to maintain that level of safety and make sure that we hold the offenders to account.' Ms Tomte, who is originally from Norway, is the co-founder of Melbourne-based skincare company HUD Skin and Body, which has clinics in St Kilda and Northcote. She told 9News that Mr Bilic was the 'kindest, gentlest person I've ever known'. 'Loved by everyone who ever had the fortune of meeting him,' she said. Police are urging anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage from the Warana area between 11pm on Sunday, July 13, and 7.35pm on Monday, July 14, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Man found stabbed to death outside Sunshine Coast beachside mansion identified as Zdravko Bilic
The husband of a successful beauty mogul has been identified as the man found stabbed to death outside a multi-million dollar beach mansion. A neighbour found Zdravko Bilic, 57, lying unresponsive outside his Napalle St property on Queensland 's Sunshine Coast, just 200 metres from Warana Beach, just after 7.30pm on Monday. WATCH THE VIDEO ABOVE: Sunshine Coast man found stabbed to death in front yard. He had two stab wounds to his abdomen, Queensland Police said. Bilic's wife Gry Tomte runs a popular skincare clinic in Melbourne's St Kilda and was interstate at the time of the incident. She became concerned when she couldn't reach her husband and asked the neighbour to check in. They then made the grim discovery and alerted police. Bilic was declared dead at the scene. 'His wife hadn't heard from him and asked a neighbour to check,' police said. 'That's when he was found deceased.' The street was shut down as detectives from Operation Xray Elting scoured the scene for evidence. Police believe the fatal stabbing may have occurred as early as 11pm on Sunday night. 'One of the lines of inquiry is that he may have disturbed a break-in,' a homicide investigator said. Bilic is understood to have been home alone when he was killed. 'This is an attack that's happened, and we need to find out why,' police said. The investigation is ongoing. Detectives urge anyone with information or security vision from the area between 11pm on Sunday, July 13 and 7.35pm on Monday, July 14 to contact police.
