Petlibro's new smart camera uses AI to describe your pet's movements, and it's adorable
Petlibro, the pet tech startup known for its automatic feeders and filtered water fountains, has just launched its latest product, the AI-powered Scout Smart Camera, designed to provide pet owners with real-time insights into their furbabies' activities and behaviors. Scout is similar to other pet cameras on the market; it monitors your pet in real-time and features two-way audio, allowing you to communicate with them if they're getting into mischief. The companion mobile app allows users to control the camera's movements, although the camera is also designed to detect and automatically follow their pet as they move past it. It can also make a chirping noise to grab their attention if you can't find them. What sets this device apart, however, is its AI capabilities. Scout uses pet recognition technology to track various activities, such as when your pet eats (which is helpful if they chew on things they shouldn't), drinks water, uses the litter box, or simply walks across the screen. It also captures surprise selfies of your pet when they are detected and provides daily highlights, storing clips in the cloud with up to a 30-day history. Additionally, Scout can recognize multiple pets, allowing it to track their activities separately. Users can currently set individual profiles for two pets in the app. 'Early on, our models struggled to tell similar-looking pets apart, which we knew was needed in many multi-pet pet households. Traditional facial recognition failed when pets moved quickly or shared features. This led us to develop a dynamic, first-of-its-kind (for an AI pet cam), feedback-driven system that improves through real-world use over time,' York Wu, founder and CEO, told TechCrunch. A standout feature I appreciated as a pet owner is that the device doesn't just notify you of your pet's activities; it also provides cute descriptions. One of my favorites during testing was, 'Zelda is calmly strolling across the shiny floor, her nose pointed forward as she explores her surroundings with gentle curiosity.' How adorable is that? Another way Petlibro's Scout camera stands out is its ability to share devices with up to five other family members and friends. If you're interested in trying the device, it's priced at $100. There are multiple subscription plans available; however, to access the AI features, you can opt for either the standard tier, which costs $12 per month, or the premium tier, priced at $17 per month. Another pet camera company, Furbo, offers a similar device that includes an AI 'Nanny' assistant for $7 per month. The camera itself is priced at $210. While Petlibro's Scout camera is priced lower than Furbo's, it currently lacks a key feature found in Furbo's offering: the ability to detect and alert owners to barking sounds. Petlibro is actively working on adding this, along with meowing detection, which may broaden its appeal, as Furbo is primarily marketed to dog owners. Additionally, the Scout device doesn't have a food dispenser, but Petlibro plans to integrate AI capabilities with select feeders and fountains, aiming to differentiate its growing product line from competitors. It should be noted that the company's privacy policy indicates that its system collects image and video data captured by the camera for use in improving the device, including its AI features. Other smart cameras, such as Google Nest and Amazon Ring, also state in their privacy policies that they collect user data to improve their services. According to Petlibro, the data is handled in accordance with cybersecurity standards. The device doesn't use audio for AI data collection. 3 cats at North Wales rescue centre hoping for adoption
North Clwyd Animal Rescue (NCAR) have cats, dogs, horses and some smaller animals, all hoping to find their forever home. The staff and volunteers at the Trelogan-based charity know the animals as individuals, and therefore know what kind of home they are more likely to thrive in. Whether it's a dog, cat, rabbit or horse, staff are on hand to advise on the character and suitability of each. They also make sure potential new owners are aware of the ongoing costs of a pet, including food and vet bills, which can often be for unexpected treatment. But thankfully there are plenty of responsible, loving people and families looking to give an animal a loving new home. And there are always animals of all types, ages and needs that will be the perfect match. Here we meet just some of the cats at NCAR looking for a new home... • For more details, please visit or if you would like to support the charity without adopting, you can visit their cafe, open from 10.30am to 3.30pm. They also accept donations at the centre between 10am and 4pm. Lenny waiting for adoption at NCAR. • Lenny is almost four-years-old, came into care due to his owner being allergic. He is very nervous in the cattery environment and has taken a while to settle in. He is making some progress but we feel he will come along much quicker in a home environment. He is looking for a quiet home as this is what he has been used to previously. In his previous home he was used to going in and out so is looking for a home with a good outdoor space for him to explore once he has settled in. His previous owners have said he is affectionate when he knows you but is quite a shy cat in general. His previous owners have said once he trusts you he is fine being stroked and picked up and likes human interaction and sitting on your lap in the evenings. Lenny is looking for an adult only, pet free home and needs someone that will be patient with him whilst he settles and adjusts to his new home. Zelda waiting for adoption at NCAR. • Four-year-old Zelda is a nice girl who has come into care for rehoming due to her owners ill health. She has been used to a quiet home, so is looking for a quiet home this time around too. Zelda is used to going outside previously so is looking for a home away from busy roads, where she can venture safely once she has settled into her new home. She can be a bit timid at times but is affectionate and loving once she is familiar with you. Leo waiting for adoption at NCAR. • Six-year-old Leo is a lovely girl who has been signed over to care for rehoming due to a change of circumstances for her owners. She had been in the same home since being a kitten, so she was understandably quite bewildered when she arrived here but she has settled more now and we are seeing her lovely personality. She is looking for a home as the only pet as she has never lived with other animals before. Leo is looking for a home with a safe outdoor area for her to venture and explore once she has settled in, as she has previously been used to going in and out throughout the day.

Sabrina Carpenter fans crack Espresso 'meaning' before Man's Best Friend launch
Sabrina Carpenter fans have been left convinced the singer has a hidden message in her hit song Espresso that only fans of a certain video game franchise will be able to decipher Sabrina Carpenter fans are all talking about a new theory that the songstress has hidden a nod to a legendary video game within her smash hit Espresso that only the biggest gamers would be able to crack. Sabrina has been showered with praise for her 2024 anthem, which secured her debut atop the Billboard Global 200 chart and earned her two Grammys for Best Pop Solo Performance and Best Remixed Recording. Now, TikTok users are speculating about the existence of an Easter egg in the award-winning tune. A woman named Nicolette posted a clip where her partner Austin John, a well-known gaming YouTuber, suggests there's a tune from The Legend of Zelda subtly woven into Espresso's intro. In a stirring reveal, the video titled "Sabrina Carpenter is a Zelda fan?!" features Austin matching the initial notes of Espresso with the iconic melody of Zelda's Lullaby from the timeless instalment, Ocarina of Time, which was first released in 1998 for Nintendo's N64. By syncing the two melodies, he made the declaration: "Zelda's Lullaby is in Sabrina Carpenter's Espresso." He quipped in the caption: "Sabrina Carpenter definitely played Breath of the Wild." Fans were left scratching their heads after noticing striking similarities between two songs. This sparked theories about Sabrina Carpenter's fondness for the classic video game Legend of Zelda, and some fans spotted her potential as a frontrunner to star in the anticipated live-action film version of the gaming franchise. The revelation led many to speculate that Sabrina's adoration for the game might see her snagging the role of Princess Zelda in the forthcoming movie adaptation, which is set to be released in 2027. Casting suggestions flooded in, with one user commenting: "Then make Sabrina Carpenter play Princess Zelda. She has the acting chops, who says no?" A third wrote: "How are people only just noticing this? I recognised it after my first time listening to Espresso." But some fans weren't so quick to jump on the bandwagon, suggesting that it might be a bit ambitious to claim that Zelda's Lullaby featured in Espresso based solely on a few identical introductory notes. Still, this wouldn't mark the first time Sabrina has tipped her hat to the gaming universe. A clever lyric in the chorus of Espresso states, "Switch it up like Nintendo", an obvious nod to the popular Nintendo Switch console. Whether or not Espresso intentionally echoes Zelda's Lullaby, we're sure to see more witty lyrics and interesting crossovers when Sabrina drops her new album, Man's Best Friend, on August 29.

Nintendo Switch 2 Exclusive Mario Kart World Is Selling Faster Than OG Switch Launch Title Zelda: Breath of the Wild in Japan
In Japan, Nintendo Switch 2 launch title Mario Kart World has sold more physical copies in the first three days on sale than Switch 1 launch title The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild managed in its first three days. According to Famitsu, Mario Kart World has sold a huge 782,566 copies in Japan already, making it the top-selling game for the week from June 2 to June 8. It is worth noting, however, that Famitsu's figures only cover physical, preinstalled-on-console, and Game-Key Card sales from retail outlets. They do not include digital downloads direct from My Nintendo Store, so the total number of Mario Kart World sales is likely far higher. In contrast, the Switch edition of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild sold an estimated 193,060 copies in Japan over the first three days after the original Switch's launch back in 2017, according to Famitsu's figures. This means that in Japanese retail sales alone, Mario Kart World has sold around four times more copies than Breath of the Wild initially did on Switch 1. This is hardly surprising, considering the Switch 2 is Nintendo's fastest selling hardware to date, shifting over 3.5 million units worldwide in the first four days. In fact, Nintendo's latest console is outselling the original Switch 2-to-1 (no pun intended). The supply-constrained Switch 1 got off to a much slower start, selling 2.74 million units globally in just under a month. Over the first three days post-launch, physical Switch 2 games saw strong sales in Japan. Switch 2 titles accounted for half of Famitsu's top 10, with Switch 2 editions of Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma (No. 6, 10,877 copies), Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (No. 7, 7,992 copies), Zelda: Breath of the Wild (No. 8, 7,529 copies) and Yakuza 0 (No. 9, 7,486 copies) entering the charts. Elden Ring: Nightreign (PS5) was the only non-Switch title at No. Mario Kart World may be racing ahead of Breath of the Wilds' initial launch figures in Japan, it remains to be seen if it will eventually catch up with the critically acclaimed Zelda game's total sales. Especially considering that BOTW just got a Switch 2 HD rerelease, which may prompt fans to purchase the game all over again. Check out our Mario Kart World guide and learn how to unlock every hidden Mario Kart World character, plus how Kamek Unlocks work — you'll need them to unlock NPC Drivers. We've also got a guide to all the Mario Kart World food scattered across the open world and where to find it, which will help you get all the Mario Kart World outfits and costumes permanently.
