Red Alert: The Dior timepiece with a sporty-meets-couture attitude
Grey and pink, emblematic colours of the house of Dior, represent a powdery, almost pastel vision of elegance. What's perhaps lesser known is that scarlet—a piercing, powerful red—is one of the house's cherished colours too, a hue that Christian Dior once described as the 'colour of life'. Vitality and virility, these ideas fuel the Chiffre Rouge watch by Dior, first introduced in 2004 and revamped in 2024.
This year, the house of Dior is adding to the collection a trio of references with red fumé dials, gradients of scarlet and ebony on its signature quilted cannage pattern. There are two models sized at 38mm, one in full black diamond-like carbon-coated steel and one with an asymmetrical band of rose gold and black diamonds set into the bezel; and a 41mm chronograph powered by the prestigious Zenith El Primero movement. As a symbol of Dior's take on masculine elegance on the wrist, each timepiece naturally comes embellished with house hallmarks: the micro- cannage pattern on interchangeable rubber straps, crown and chronograph pushers accented with a stripe of red, and a date window circled in red with the eighth day of the month—Monsieur Dior's auspicious number—in contrasting red.
